Evgeny Likhachev is the last head of the Yalta sea trade port. He devoted his entire life to his native harbor and went from a simple sailor to a port master. We noticed a smart guy when he was still a student: Evgeniy studied in Yalta to become a navigator and worked part-time in the port. He was appointed to the position of dispatcher when he, already having one diploma, entered the correspondence course at the Odessa Institute navy.

Soon Evgeniy “grew up” to deputy head of the port fleet for operation, and then became deputy head of the port. Evgeniy Vasilyevich headed the Yalta harbor in 1986.

Golden era of the port

The “golden” time was when Evgeny Likhachev was deputy chief. Passenger ships then carried up to 6 million passengers per year.

In the 70s - 80s of the last century, the Yalta harbor received brand new motor ships of Project 1430 "Alexander Green" and "Samantha Smith" of Project 10110. In the early 90s, the newest Norwegian catamarans arrived - "Crimean Arrow" and "Blue Arrow" .

First, I calculated the economics, and then I chose the most modern and comfortable models of catamarans for Yalta,” Likhachev said then.

Vessels of this class were not designed or built in the USSR, so they were the pride of port workers.

Evgeniy Vasilyevich achieved strict adherence to the schedule of movement of his ships. The deployment of the fleet was carried out in such a way that each passenger ship could be used profitably and as efficiently as possible.

It was Likhachev who developed the route Odessa - Evpatoria - Sevastopol - Yalta - Alushta - Sudak - Feodosia - Sochi. This route was made by the Comet hydrofoil ships. Those who have ever ridden along this route remember that everything was lined up precisely and worked like a clock. Black Sea maritime shipping company, which included the Yalta trading port, was at the zenith of its power.

Evgeniy Vasilyevich agreed with the excursion bureau and created a system in which anyone could easily and simply purchase a ticket to the Comet,” recalls Yalta port veteran Rem Kalitin. - Under him, the port always exceeded the plan in 1980-1990. The state received additional profit - more than 800 thousand (even those rubles) per year.

Under Likhachev, simultaneously with the passenger fleet, the cargo area of the Yalta sea trade port was developed - 3 river-sea type vessels were quickly working there. In 1985, the last crane was transported to the cargo area. So the resort sector and industry were completely separated, to the delight of local residents and tourists.

Likhachev said that the future of maritime transport on the Black Sea lies with high-speed ships: they can successfully compete with aviation and satisfy the demand of business people for trips around the region.

Anti-crisis boss

Likhachev lived with the port throughout his entire life modern history- from post-war reconstruction to the collapse of the USSR,” seaport veteran Rem Kalitin shares with Komsomolskaya Pravda. Evgeniy Vasilyevich also saw the famous bird ships - small ships that the port employees built themselves. On these “birds” Soviet people in the 50s and 60s got acquainted with Crimea.

After the collapse of the Soviet Union, Evgeny Likhachev kept the port afloat until his retirement in 1998.

Cargo ships began to sail abroad, passenger catamarans - to international flights. One can only imagine how psychologically difficult it was for a man who successfully managed one of the strongest enterprises of the Union. After 1991, in the new realities, we had to solve completely different issues - to fight for the port to survive. Likhachev saved the port clinic and other social facilities from people who wanted to take away their social infrastructure from the sailors. But Evgeny Vasilyevich coped. Veterans of the port say that it was only thanks to him that the enterprise survived.

Evgeniy Vasilyevich has not been with us for a year now. But his work lives on. Recently, a meeting was held in Kerch at which the President and the Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation decided to open the Yalta-Sochi sea route next year.

Bulgaria - Romania "Arrow to Europe"

Every year, sea travel becomes more convenient and varied for tourists and passengers, and everyone can choose a suitable alternative for themselves: train + boom, bus + boom, car + boom. For example, Russian tourists appreciate and prefer the travel option that combines train and sea transportation on a catamaran.

The journey from Odessa to Varna on board the Crimean Strela catamaran takes only nine hours, and all this time is filled with dolphins, seagulls and fresh sea air.

The route started operating back in 2004. The company took a certain risk by introducing summer direction"Odessa-Varna-Odessa". Soon, an additional flight had to be introduced, and now the catamaran sails from South Palmyra towards Golden Sands twice a week. If in 2004 about 5 thousand passengers were transported, then in 2007 - already more than 9.5 thousand - progress is obvious. During the mini-voyage, passengers on board the catamaran can enjoy sea and land views. The ship's premises are air-conditioned, equipped with video and audio equipment, a bar, and an information desk where each passenger can receive any information or order a taxi. For those who cannot do without tobacco, there is a special smoking area. And special tariff plans for sailors, students, pensioners, war veterans and organized groups became another argument for choosing Crimean Arrow.

And the Crimean Strela itself at one time worked on European lines and even as a floating casino for foreigners, which already speaks of its comfort. The ship was built in Norway in 1990, and in 2004 underwent a major reconstruction. Good speed, capacity (298 passengers), comfort and professional crew create ideal conditions for moving to sunny Bulgaria and for the subsequent return to blooming Odessa.

In addition, since 2008, flights Odessa - Constanta (Romania) have been operating. Now this port city is becoming increasingly famous due to the resorts growing around it. Previously, Constanta was known only thanks to the departure of the battleship Potemkin there in 1905. Now, thanks to the infrastructure and competitive prices, Romanian resorts are very popular. The journey to Constanta from Odessa now takes only 6 hours.
