I continue my story about yesterday at the Saratov airport. More precisely, I already wrote what happened at the airfield (), and focused on how they left me inside the plane :) I was warned that due to fog it was possible to go to an alternate airfield, and having taken off in Saratov, I might have to get home by by train from Samara :)
As you understand, I agreed :)

I was sitting, not touching anyone, looking out the window, when suddenly...

This aircraft is being treated with anti-icing fluid.

Then we taxi out. We reach the end of the runway.

Let's turn around.

And we take off!

Crew flight tests continue - today another 5 pilots are practicing. To obtain permission you need to fly a certain number of hours with an instructor. It's serious. These are the requirements of the Federal Air Transport Agency. Instructors from Brazil and Ukraine will fly with our pilots for another six months (!).
As the pilots themselves admit, and they are experienced Yak-42 pilots, retraining for a new type of aircraft is not difficult. The principles are the same. They have already completed practice on flight simulators and are now flying in real conditions. While someone is in control, the rest are standing and watching :-) The situation is just like an exam. Can't get close.

The cabin is also cramped. The plane has a crew of 2 people, so the cabin is small. But instead of two today there are always three.

Flying an airplane is not like driving a car. Everything is becoming stricter - all kinds of logs are filled out, fuel consumption is noted, and pilots' flight hours are kept track of.

Every 5 crews trained by making circles over the airfield according to the following scheme: takeoff - 2 missed approaches - landing. Corrections were also made to allow other aircraft to enter the airfield. Once we flew somewhere very far from Saratov. It’s a strange feeling: in just over 3 hours you can fly from Agricultural Institute 15 times to Solnechny, visit Raskovo, fly over the Volga through Shumeika, Engels, and return through Sokolovaya Gora.
The most impressive thing is the missed approach. The plane lands, lands, suddenly the engines switch to takeoff mode and with sharp acceleration and a roar you begin to soar into the sky again! The feeling is unforgettable.

The entire airfield is at your fingertips.

After the third circle we sit down. Below, bloggers and airport staff are watching.

Then the crew changes, the pilots share their impressions.

Those who have spent their hours at the helm sit down and watch the flight from the side, evaluate the plane as passengers, and compare.

Another landing, and a Moscow flight is already waiting for us on the taxiway.

We reach the turning pocket of the runway, turn around and go back to the beginning of the runway to take off. Passengers flying to Moscow are waiting for us and looking through the windows at an unusual plane.

All pilots are happy with the new machine. And in general, the fact that the airport and the airline are developing. But if a new investor had not bought it from Aeroflot, we would have mourned it, just like our aircraft plant. We would go to Russian Railways and dream about a new airport. Now, in addition to Moscow, a number of other directions are being developed. Already next year, flights to Egypt and Greece are planned, and there are plans for flights to Bulgaria and Barcelona. And right now it will be possible to fly to Prague and the UAE on Embraers.

By the way, at the same time I noticed some useful little things. This is if you buy a ticket to Embraer. The noisiest places in the cabin are located slightly further than the middle. The most space to sit is in seats 2AC (this is in the so-called comfort class, or more correctly Eurobusiness). It rocks more in the tail. The best views out the window are in the first rows, but the very last ones are also good.
But let's still get into the cockpit.

The sun begins to set.

It's time for us to land.

That's how I became the first passenger on the new plane.

Photo of Saratov from the flight ahead...

The Brazilian company Embraer is currently one of the world leaders in the market of regional passenger airliners. The most modern aircraft from this manufacturer is the Embraer ERJ-190 model. Today it is operated by many airlines from all over the world. According to most passengers, the airliner is highly comfortable, as well as easy takeoff and landing. It will be discussed in more detail later in this article.

general description

The aircraft belongs to the E-Jet line of medium-haul passenger airliners. It was created on the basis of the E-170/175 modification. To improve flight characteristics, the developers equipped it with a longer wing and improved the elevator. More modern engines have become a key innovation in the model Embraer ERJ-190. Interior layout provides for the arrangement of passengers in two rows (two seats on each side). Features of the interior include spacious shelves for hand luggage, as well as the use of non-rectilinear lighting. The crew consists of a pilot and his assistant.

Most people who have flown at least once on this modification of the aircraft share positive emotions about their trip. First of all, they note the spacious interior, in which even tall passengers can comfortably fit, as well as the fact that there is practically no pressure difference when climbing and landing.

Brief history of creation

Engineers from the Brazilian company began developing the Embraer ERJ-190 aircraft in early 1998. With a new model with a narrow fuselage, they intended to surpass their main competitors - Airbus and Boeing. For the first time, the new product debuted to the general public in 1999 during the Paris International Exhibition. In 2004, the ship received all the necessary permits and certificates, after which its mass production and commercial operation began.

Main characteristics

The length of the Embraer ERJ-190 aircraft is 36.24 meters and the wingspan is 28.72 meters. The model is equipped with a pair of modern turbojet engines, each of which develops a power of 8400 kgf. The airliner is designed to transport passengers over a distance of up to 4,260 kilometers. At the same time, its cruising speed is 890 km/h, and its operational ceiling is 12 thousand meters. Representatives of the development company say that an important feature of this aircraft is the use of technology for remote control of the rudders through the use of electric drives.

Exploitation

The Embraer ERJ-190 airliner is currently available in two modifications - ERJ-190-100 and ERJ-190-200. There are no technological differences between them. The only difference is the length of the run before takeoff. This is due to the fact that the first version of the aircraft is designed for 98 passengers, and the second - for 108. Due to its efficiency and capacity, the model immediately after its official debut attracted the attention of potential buyers engaged in both scheduled and charter flights.

The first customer of the model was JetBlue from the USA, which entered into an agreement with the Brazilian manufacturer for the supply of hundreds of units of the airliner. Currently, the main users of the model are airlines from the USA, China, Canada, Mexico, Kazakhstan and Colombia. Domestic carriers do not yet operate this aircraft. At the same time, over the entire existence of the model, as of the end of last year, the manufacturing company received orders for a total of almost 600 copies.

Price

The cost of one new airliner, depending on the configuration, varies from 32 to 45 million dollars, and on the secondary market a potential buyer will have to pay about 20 million dollars for it.

The Embraer ERJ 190 aircraft belongs to the class of the latest aircraft that were invented by Brazilian craftsmen in the mid-2000s. In 2004, this aircraft was at the testing stage, and two years later mass production of these aircraft began. Over 11 years, about 1000 copies were created. Today, this model has impeccable technical characteristics, which allows us to consider it one of the best among modern aircraft. It accommodates almost 100 passengers and is capable of covering distances of over 3,000 km.

Embraer 190 aircraft

You can see a photo of the Embraer 190 inside below. Anyone planning to fly on this aircraft should know at least approximately how the seats in the cabin are located. Thus, you can choose the most convenient ones for yourself in order to get to your destination in comfort. To begin with, this airliner has an extended wing and non-rectilinear lighting. The arrangement of passenger seats is made according to the proportion 2+2. On average, an Embraer 190 aircraft seats 100 people. Today it boldly competes with such well-known models as the Airbus A318, Boeing 737-600 and others.

In total, this airliner has 98-106 seats in economy class and 94-100 in business class. The width of the cabin is 2.74 m, which allows you to move freely around it without affecting resting passengers. As for choosing the most suitable place, everyone decides for themselves where it will be convenient for them. For example, many people prefer aisle chairs because they are comfortable to sit in due to the lack of other seats in front, and it is also convenient to go to the toilet from there. But these places have several negative aspects, because of which some passengers have a bad attitude towards them:

  • constant movement of passengers and flight attendants with trolleys;
  • the need to get up when other passengers want to go to the toilet or another place.

On this plane, it is best to sit in the middle. It's much quieter there than near the passage. In addition, there is no need to get up at the request of other passengers. If you choose a place near the emergency exit, then you can stretch your legs and relax with greater comfort. However, such chairs should not be chosen by those traveling with pets or small children. Those planning to fly on this airliner should know the following:

  1. For flights with children, it is better to give preference to seats in the 18th row on the left or right.
  2. The best places are 1 and 11.
  3. Many passengers feel most comfortable in the front part of the cabin.
  4. Toilets are located forward and aft.
  5. If you fly business class, you'll have access to charging outlets for electronic devices, wardrobes, a TV and more.

Technical capabilities of the ERJ 190

Let's start by clarifying the dimensions of this aircraft. So, its length is 36.2 m, its height reaches 10.6 m, and its wingspan is 28.7 m. The empty weight of the aircraft reaches 28080 kg. The small size of the aircraft allows it to easily pick up speed and land without problems.

Now about the technical capabilities:

  • fuel tank capacity – 16250 l;
  • flight range – 3200-4000 km;
  • highest flight altitude – 11900 m;
  • the run length is 1890 m, and the run length is 1250 m;
  • maximum take-off weight is 47.8 kg;
  • maximum cruising speed – 880 km/h;
  • The aircraft is equipped with GE CF34-10E engines and 2 x 8400 kgf.

Which airlines use this ship for their flights?

The Embraer ERJ-190 aircraft is one of the most popular and powerful airliners of our time. Many carriers dream of having this particular aircraft in their fleet, but not everyone is lucky. Here is a list of airlines that use this aircraft for their flights:

  • Saratov Airlines.
  • American.
  • British Airways.
  • Air France.
  • Gulf Air Bahrain.
  • China Airlines.

This plane flies in different directions. Today it is one of the most popular. Many passengers will confirm that it is convenient to make long flights.

Embraer 190 modification schemes

There are currently 536 Embraer E-190 (Jet) or Embraer ERJ-190 class aircraft in active service. It is planned to introduce another 55 aircraft of this series and 83 second-generation aircraft of the E-190 E2 class. The embraer 190 aircraft operates in countries such as the USA, China, Kazakhstan, Mexico, Canada, Colombia, Nigeria, Kenya, Moldova, Ukraine, Myanmar, Australia, and Germany. Thus, Ember 190 is quite popular and in demand, especially when it comes to regional airlines. In addition, passengers claim that this plane is quite comfortable and has a smooth takeoff and landing, although some still note that the plane “twitches” a little, especially before landing. One way or another, it is necessary to consider it in more detail.

Manufacturer

The Embraer 190 aircraft is a twin-engine narrow-body medium-range passenger aircraft. Produced by the Brazilian company Embraer (president John Slattery).

Start date of release, modifications

Serial production of the Embraer began in 2002, although the aircraft was first presented at the Le Bourget Air Show in 1999, and development began back in 1998. The developers tried, first of all, to create a model competitive with Boeing and Airbus.

Over the production of aircraft typeEmbraer 190such companies (the best in modern aviation) worked as:

  • Honeywell;
  • General Electric (CF3410E turbofan engines are the main advantage of an aircraft of this class and type);
  • Parker Hannifin.

Currently there are such modificationsEmbraer E-Jet(except 190):

  • E-170 is the very first, basic modification of the aircraft of this series;
  • E-175 – we can say that the E-190 was created on the basis of aircraft of the E170/175 series;
  • E-195 - interestingly, this is the longest aircraft in its class, its capacity is 122 passengers.

In 2018-2020, it is planned to begin production of the second generation of these aircraft, which was announced back in 2013. It is planned to release such improved models as:

  • E175-E2 (to be released in 2020);
  • E190-E2 (to be released in 2018);
  • E195-E2 (to be released in 2019).

In 2014, the start of work on a cargo version of the aircraft was also announced, but a serial production date has not yet been announced.

The E-190 itself is available in two modifications:

  • ERJ-190-100;
  • ERJ-190-200.

They have no global differences from each other. The only thing is that “one hundred” is designed for 98 passengers, and “two hundred” is designed for 108 passengers. Because of this, planes have different lengths and takeoff runs before takeoff.

The price of the aircraft is 32-45 million dollars for a new aircraft. When repurchased, the price drops to approximately $20 million. The E-190 is distinguished from all other aircraft of this class by a longer wing, an improved elevator, and more powerful engines. The developers also thought of a remote control system using electric drives.

In terms of technical characteristics, an aircraft of this type is very similar to the following aircraft:

  • Airbus A318;
  • Boeing 737;
  • An-148.

Layout of seats in the aircraft cabin

The standard E-190 has a fairly spacious interior with 25 rows. The seats are arranged in a 2+2 pattern. The distance between the seats in the cabin is 82 cm (32 inches; only in the 12th row in front of the emergency exits - 38 inches). The seats are designed for a maximum passenger height of 1.90 m. The width between the seats is 18 cm, the width of the armrests is 5 cm. The width of the aisle is 50 cm. All seats are equipped with special pockets for newspapers and small equipment.

The seats are quite comfortable, passengers will be assured that they can get up and sit down without disturbing their neighbors.

There is non-linear lighting and spacious luggage racks located above the seats. There are 2 toilets in the salon. The cabin width is only 2.74 m.

Description of seats by block of rows

In standard E190s there is rarely a division into classes; the entire cabin is economy class (although some aircraft have a division: 88 economy class seats and 9 business class seats). The best seats (according to the carrier itself) are on the right on the 5th row and on the left on the 6th row (next to the flight attendant department and toilets). It is good to sit (especially for parents with small children) on the left and right on the 18th row.

If we consider various modifications, we can provide information on the interior dimensions in the following table.

Characteristics of aircraft cabins

Facilities

There must be 4 flight attendants on the plane. Two of them are located in the nose of the aircraft, and two in the tail. Passengers can contact them if any problem arises.

There are places for cradles (18th row, 5th row). The best conditions are provided for business class passengers (on an airplane designed for 96 passengers): there are chargers and wardrobes.

Business class is separated from the rest of the plane only by a small curtain, which is retracted during takeoff and landing.

There is a fairly well-thought-out security system on board. There are also certain rules of behavior that passengers are told about.

Embaer's aircraft have many advantages and advantages. On the forums they say that these are comfortable aircraft, where turbulence is almost not felt, there is no shaking during takeoff and landing, and no unnecessary noise is heard. Engineering solutions also ensure the safest takeoff and landing. By the way, accidents with aircraft of this type are extremely rare; in 2017, only 6 such cases were recorded. This is basically a cancellation of takeoff and landing due to minor technical faults.

Airplanes are a real boon for regional aviation, which is why the company has a lot of orders today.

Video

The Embraer aircraft is manufactured by the Brazilian aircraft manufacturing conglomerate. The manufacturer offered carriers 4 main modifications: E 170, 175, 190 and 195. For those who buy a ticket for an Embraer 190/195 aircraft, the cabin layout will help you choose comfortable seats.

Photos of Embraer aircraft

Embraer aircraft cabin layout on Lufthansa flights

The seat arrangement depends on the aircraft model and airline. Common types include the E 190 and E 195, which are operated by Lufthansa.

Embraer 190 seat locations

The airline uses the aircraft on short-haul flights, dividing the cabin into 2 classes of service.

There are 4 rows allocated for business class, with the seats arranged in a 2-2 pattern:

  • The advantage is that there will be only 2 passengers in each row: tickets are not sold for other seats.
  • Considered unsuccessful 1st row, since the proximity to restrooms and refreshments may cause discomfort.

The aircraft's economy class includes rows 5-29; The seats are arranged according to the 2-2 principle.

  • The winning options include 12A, 12C, 12D and 12F. The proximity of the emergency exit gives you extra legroom. But the tables are built into the armrest, which slightly narrows the width of the chair.
  • Avoid places in 11th row, since the seats do not recline. They are also recorded on 29th row, and the proximity of restrooms adds to the inconvenience.

As for service, drinks are served on all flights. The availability of dinner or snacks is determined depending on the length of the flight.

Traveler reviews about flying on the Embraer 190

09/22/2017, the passenger was flying on 29A

The seat backs of the entire row are fixed, so you won’t be able to sleep during the flight. The seats are a little old and shabby, but fine for short-haul flights. There was enough legroom and service was at the usual Lufthansa level. I plan to travel with the company again.

Seat locations on the Embraer 195 aircraft

The Embraer 195 model used by Lufthansa features a large number of rows in the economy compartment. The aircraft cabin accommodates 8 business class seats; 104 seats are allocated for the budget option.

  • All seats in the "business" compartment are considered the best, although 1C and 1D located close to the buffet and restroom.
  • Accommodation in 14th row You will be pleased with the extra legroom.
  • IN 12th and 32nd The seat backs do not recline.

Passenger reviews are positive: a traveler flying on 05/24/2018 on 31F noted the quality of service and seat comfort.

Layout of Embraer aircraft on Finnair airlines

Embraer passenger aircraft operated by the airline are represented by variations of the E 170 and E 190. In the first model, 3 rows are allocated to the “business” compartment: 12 seats are arranged according to the 2-2 principle ( 1st row is considered unsuccessful). The rest is occupied by the economy compartment, and there are no special differences between the seats. Just try not to end up in chairs 1 9A, C, D, E and F, because their backs do not recline.

The capacity of the E 170 aircraft on Finnair routes is 76 passengers; flight speed reaches 854 km/h.

Reviews of the Embraer 170 aircraft

05/23/2018, the passenger did not indicate the seat number

The flight in the E 170 was one of the most terrible in my life. In terms of discomfort, I can only compare it with traveling on the lines of the low-cost airline EasyJet. The chair turned out to be narrow; it was barely possible to squeeze into it. If your weight is more than 60 kg, then get ready that you won’t be able to turn around normally! The backrest added to the inconvenience, since in the middle of it I felt a hard crossbar of the base. The manufacturer spared the padding, so the flight turned into torture. In addition, there was not enough legroom. Next time I'll choose to reschedule my flight or stay home if I can't find an alternative to Embraer.

Cabin layout of the E 190 on Finnair routes

Look for cheap tickets for any type of transport without leaving your home:

Finnair allocates 12 seats for business travelers (3 rows) and 88 for economy passengers (4-25 rows).

  • Try to book tickets for 11C or 11D, as you will get more legroom. This advantage is 11A and 11F, but the seats themselves are not very comfortable. One of the armrests is attached to the emergency exit door, which causes inconvenience.
  • Do not buy tickets for seats in 11th row, since the seat backs do not recline. There is also a drawback 25th row, which is also located near the toilet.

Please note that even passengers in the business compartment do not have the opportunity to recharge gadgets from an outlet or watch TV. To avoid getting bored on the road, think about your leisure time in advance.

Reviews about the flight

06/05/2018, the passenger was flying on 1C

I flew in the business section, but I didn’t quite understand why I paid more. I've traveled on airlines and didn't notice that the 1C had any extra legroom. I didn't see any difference from 11C.

But otherwise I was no less comfortable than when traveling on the A320. I must also note the service: we were served dinner, alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. The French champagne turned out to be excellent. The crew was friendly and attentive, and the pilot greeted us upon landing. Overall I liked the flight.

Embraer 170-175 aircraft on S7 lines

The Embraer 175 Jet model is used on the lines: the cabin diagram shows that only economy class is available on board. Capacity is 78 passengers, and they are located in 20 rows; The seats are in a 2-2 configuration.

When choosing locations, consider the following:

  • Passengers 1st row get extra legroom. The disadvantages include the fact that it will not be possible to place hand luggage under the seat, but the disadvantage is compensated by spacious shelves.
  • 7th row located near the wing, and the view from the window is partially blocked. Passengers won't enjoy the views either. 8-13 rows.
  • 20th located near the toilets, and the rigid partition does not allow the seat backs to be reclined. Passengers will also feel the inconvenience. 19th row, sitting in the aisles: travelers will scurry past wanting to use the restroom.

For a comfortable flight, try to buy tickets closer to the bow: you will not be disturbed by the noise of the engines, and the turbulence will be less noticeable.

An Embraer aircraft on British Airways

On European flights, the company uses the E 190 model. Rows 1-10 are reserved for the Club Europe cabin: this is the name given to the business section. The best places are considered 2C and 2D, as passengers get extra legroom. The worst are 1A and 1B- the proximity of the buffet and the presence of a table built into the armrest have an effect.

In economy class, called Euro Traveler, the best option is considered 12th row, and the worst - 11th and 25th, since the backs of the chairs will be fixed.

The E 170 model is also featured on the flights, with 13 of the 19 rows dedicated to Club Europe. It is enough to avoid places in 19th row so that the flight is comfortable.

Embraer aircraft: video

Embraer aircraft family

The manufacturer specializes in producing models for medium-range flights. Plans to move to larger capacity aircraft were scrapped because the airline would not be able to compete with Boeing and Airbus. As a result, the manufacturer focused on models for regional flights, and Bombardier with its CSeries became the main competitor in the market.

The Embraer E-Jet family of aircraft includes the following variations:

  • Embraer 170 accommodates 78 passengers, but configurations for transporting 72 or 66 people are more often used. By 2017, the aircraft was practically out of production.
  • Embraer 175 It features an enlarged interior, so the maximum capacity reaches 88 people. For the sake of passenger comfort, airlines use 76-78 seat configurations.
  • Embraer 190 and 195 can accommodate up to 124 passengers. The planes are equipped with wider wings and new GE CF34-10E engines. The first airline to use them on its flights was the British low-cost airline Flybe.

The manufacturer managed to make the aircraft the best-selling among regional models. Perhaps the release of an improved family, planned for 2018, will allow us to reach new horizons.

Companies operating Embraer

Aircraft can be seen on flights of the following companies:

  • Air Canada;
  • Lufthansa;
  • S7;
  • Belavia;
  • Finnair;
  • American Airlines;
  • Air France;
  • Air Moldova, etc.

Technical characteristics of Embraer aircraft

Conclusion

Judging by passenger reviews, the Embraer aircraft is suitable for regional flights. Tall and overweight people may have difficulties, but in general travelers are satisfied with the safety, comfort and design of the cabin. Buy your tickets in advance to select reclining seats to ensure a positive flying experience.
