  • Bulgaria, Sunny Beach resort, Chaika Beach hotel 4*
The flight is very fast, only two and a half hours, and the bus ride to the hotel is also pretty quick, about an hour. In total, we were already at the hotel at 21:00 and checked in instantly. The unpleasant thing is that our suitcase was opened, the lock was broken, the suitcase was opened, our clothes were turned over, nothing was stolen. There was nothing to steal there, swimsuits and dresses, apparently the size didn’t fit. I am sure that the lock was torn off deliberately, and that it was not by chance that it broke on its own due to the impact, since it is clear that the suitcase was opened, the internal zipper was unzipped and the clothes were turned over. Well, since the suitcase didn’t close, I had to take a safe, it costs 7 levs per day. And I saw this trouble already at the hotel, i.e. When I picked up my suitcase at the airport, I didn’t even notice. It was too late to do anything.
There were 20 minutes left before the end of dinner, we were hungry, so we ran to dinner. We had breakfast and dinner. No lunch and no alcohol. Beer and wine could be purchased in the hotel restaurant for some money, but it cost 4 times more than in regular restaurants. I liked the food at the hotel, there was a lot of meat and everything was delicious. There was a lot of fruit: nectarines, peaches, plums, grapes, grapefruit, apples. It’s better, of course, to take only breakfast and go somewhere for dinner, it’s more interesting. A lot is said and written about Bulgarian cuisine, but since I am rather indifferent to food, I have nothing to add. Very cheap wine there, for the price of a bottle of beer. There are, of course, more expensive ones. There was always bacon for breakfast, like in American films. But there was no omelette, which I loved in Turkey. More precisely, it was, but there was just a bunch of eggs already fried and dumped in one basin. And in Turkey (and in Tunisia, and in Egypt) they fry a portion for your loved one in front of you. More beautiful somehow. Well, and probably tastier.
The hotel has two pools. One external, closer to the sea, and internal. There are fewer people near the indoor pool; in the morning there is shade from one building, and in the evening from the opposite one. And it's funny to watch people crawling after the sun. Sun loungers and umbrellas are free by the pool; they belong to the hotel. The beach is city, there are also sunbeds and umbrellas, they cost 7 levs for a sunbed and 7 levs for an umbrella, you can rent them for the whole day. Those. you pay in the morning and use it until the evening, even if you leave for lunch you can still come back later. You can lie for free on your towel on a narrow strip of sand in front of the very sea or behind paid sun loungers, i.e. far from the sea. Both there and there are not comfortable, because you lie on the sand, people walk by all the time and splash sand, although not on purpose, but the wind throws grains of sand. The beach is sandy. And the beach itself is sand, and the entrance to the sea is only sand, there are no pebbles, no shells, it’s very pleasant for the legs. The hotel is on the first line, i.e. very close to the sea, between the hotel and the beach there is only a sidewalk path, no restaurants, no shopping tents (but other hotels have the sea further away). Therefore, we lay by the pool and went to the sea to swim, then returned from the sea, took a shower to wash off the salt and lay on the sun loungers by the pool. You need to occupy a place early in the morning, otherwise you won’t be able to lie down later. We took turns getting up early, since everything was already busy at 7:10. And you can’t borrow it in the evening, because late in the evening the employees put everything left by the pool and on the sun loungers (including towels) in a common pile in the corner.
The sea was colder than the Mediterranean and our pool was cold, even colder than the sea, I could only stay in it for 2 minutes. Once there was a storm at sea, and the entire shore was covered with green algae. There were waves and these algae washed to the shore, they washed ashore and 15 meters from the shore the sea was covered in algae. It was disgusting to go into the sea. But there were no jellyfish and there were never any “biters” or “tweezers.” All reviews are filled with comments that supposedly all vacationers are bitten by some small creatures in the sea. There was no one.
The sun is very gentle, not like, for example, in Turkey, there after 12 I tried to hide in the shade, but I still got burned. And in Bulgaria from 9:00 to 17:00 in the sun, I never used sunscreen. The tan is very, very beautiful and even. And dark. And no burns. Even on the shoulders everything is fine. I don’t know what’s causing it, maybe it’s already August, or that my skin is prepared by Turkey, or that the place is different, the climate is different. The sun and weather were great.
There is a tradition in Bulgaria that shocks me. They hang leaflets on the doors of houses, on them there is a photo of a person and it is written that so-and-so died so many years ago and we are sad for him. And there is literally such a leaf on every gate. And even at the entrance to our hotel there were two of these. It's kind of creepy.
The Bulgarian language is very funny. You understand him directly. The words are very similar. For example, if someone speaks Bulgarian, then you can understand. You can’t speak Bulgarian, but you can speak Russian and they also understand. No problems with communication. In words, most of the word is similar. For example, pig-pig, open-open, godin-let, know-know, well, etc. Those. it was easy to understand each other. Especially if the conversation is not about philosophical topics, but just to order in a restaurant, or with a maid. It's even interesting to "chat". On TV the film was in Bulgarian, we laughed so much, it was a little clear where from the picture, where intuitively, where the English subtitles helped.
A short story of the first morning. I woke up early this morning to the screams of seagulls. It turns out that I had never seen seagulls so close before, since I didn’t know that they were screaming so terribly. And they scream really terribly. When I woke up, it seemed to me that it was a child howling, and not just crying, but even squealing and choking, I woke up in fright and panic, half asleep it seemed that something bad was happening, and I had to run somewhere and save someone. Then I listened and realized that it was a seagull. I calmed down, but I really wanted to drink. The refrigerator in the room is empty, but since I woke up I need to go buy some. I got up, got dressed, took 100 euros and went to look for an exchange office and a store. It was 5-6 in the morning, there were already people on the beach, some were even swimming, but the exchange offices were still closed, and I didn’t even try to make purchases with a 100 euro bill. I walked a couple of circles around the hotel, noticed three exchange offices (still closed), found a store and, with a strong feeling of thirst and an unmeasured 100 euros, returned to my room. And I seem to have money, but I still want to drink.
In the evenings, vacationers walk along the embankment. You can leave the hotel and walk along the shore, along the main embankment, so to speak - the Promenade, where all the entertainment is concentrated. And if there are a lot of people there during the day, then in the evening there are just crowds. Everyone goes back and forth, strolls, shows off themselves and admires others. There are many souvenir shops, cafes and restaurants along the embankment. Artists sit there, draw both from life and from photographs, and their works are presented. The portraits are sometimes of ordinary people (did it really be that someone ordered their portrait and then didn’t buy it because they didn’t like it?), often of Hollywood stars (well, that’s understandable, they were painted on purpose to show off their skills). They sell a wild amount of costume jewelry, Chinese, for sure. On the second line, a train travels along the road. It seems like it costs 3 leva, we never took a ride, we wanted everything “tomorrow-tomorrow”, but we didn’t have time. You can also rent an electric car and also ride around the resort, or an electric moped; we also saw bicycle rentals.
Mini golf is popular at the resort. There are a lot of different mini-golf courses there, almost everywhere costs 10 levs, but we found them for 7 and even 5. Fee per person. You can play for as long as you want (it still gets boring for more than two hours).
In restaurants, pigs or chickens are roasted on a spit. It all looks very appetizing, especially before dinner. Also on the main Promenade, grandmothers sit and crochet, immediately selling their products. Mainly napkins and tablecloths. And there are a lot of these napkins. And it's relatively cheap. A large tablecloth costs about 350-500 rubles.
One evening we went to a restaurant, "Melnichka". It is located quite far from the sea (on the third line, probably), on the right if your back is to the sea, I can’t explain it more precisely. The restaurant is located on a mountain, visible from afar, thanks to the windmill that adorns its façade. The mill spins and begins to light up in the evening. In the evening, a performance begins in this restaurant, young women and men dance in Bulgarian folk costumes and sing Bulgarian songs. They even hold competitions with spectators. And at the very end, the spectators are gathered into a round dance, taken aside, to where the fire had been lit in advance, the man takes away the coals and then runs on them with his bare heels. For entertainment purposes, the lights are turned off and only the embers burn. Before stepping on the coals, the man squealed, then ran over the coals, stomped on something that was not hot, and again, squealed, ran across the coals. Whether he really ran barefoot or whether he had his trousers pulled over his heels is unknown to us. But we even almost quarreled, because some argued that this was just for show and his heels were firmly protected, and some wanted to believe in good and bright things and argued that this was the concentration of fortitude, and the desire for perfection, that this had been going on for years study, and we are just jealous. There is a show in this restaurant on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Probably, here I will note that the portions in restaurants are quite large. Entire frying pans of food, and that’s just for fragile me. So it’s better to take one hot dish for two. Almost all restaurants have a happy hour, which means that if you order one non-alcoholic cocktail, they bring the second one for free. It may also apply to other things, but we only received second helpings of soft drinks. By the way, this “happy hour” lasts all day.
Once we had dinner at the Tanya restaurant. Our friends had a 10% discount coupon for this restaurant as a gift from their tour operator, so we went. And when they brought the bill, there were extra cakes and mineral water, which we did not order. They called the waiter and said that we didn’t eat this, he apologized and brought a new bill without these fake items. And we realized that we shouldn’t try to save money. We didn’t pay extra, but they were offended for trying to deceive us, and we left very little tip. By the way, in the same restaurant, a friend wanted a melon. I just suddenly wanted a melon and that’s it. But there is no melon on the menu. She called the waiter and said she wanted a melon. He said that he would ask in the kitchen now. Then a boy in a chef's apron ran out of the kitchen and ran somewhere. Then the melon was brought on a plate, cut and peeled. We understood that the boy drove and bought a melon at the nearest fruit stand (50 meters away). By the way, they got it inexpensively, only 150 rubles for a plate of sliced melon pieces.
We didn't go on excursions. Somehow nothing interesting was offered. We went to Old Nessebar. This is a tiny town on a peninsula, it is only 380 by 800 meters. Streets and houses. Along the perimeter of the peninsula there is an asphalt path along which cars can drive. It is located very close to the Sunny Beach resort, we took a regular city bus for 1 lev. The first thing upon arrival was decided to take a swim, which was immediately done. The beach there is bad, or rather there is none at all. This is a small peninsula, from the sea to the road (for cars) about 15 meters. And the beach is two meters away. There was nowhere to lie, so we took a swim, the wind blew over us and went ahead to admire the sights. I read about Old Nessebar on the Internet, that there is silence, comfort, an ancient city, ancient houses, cramped streets, romance and beauty, a city of 40 churches, some of them are destroyed, but the ruins are worth visiting, etc. In fact, there trade. From the photographs it seems like a quiet, cozy, calm place. But in fact, it is very noisy, crowded and somehow stupid there. Since this peninsula attracts a large number of tourists, the locals take the opportunity to peddle goods to them. Thus, everything is in shops there, selling Turkish clothes and local souvenirs. All these streets are lined with stalls with Turkish consumer goods and local souvenirs. Moreover, they are packed so closely that neither houses, nor antiquities, nor destroyed churches are visible. Only trade. And of course, no silence or romance. Bazaar. There are also a lot of cafes and restaurants. Shopping and food. No culture for you. We walked through the streets, ate freshly caught fish in a beautiful restaurant overlooking the sea and returned to the hotel. It turned out to be the most expensive lunch we had in Bulgaria. But there is a view of the sea. Judging by how long we waited for the order, the fish, as promised, was freshly caught.
Our flight was not delayed for long, we arrived without incident :)

Sunny Beach is seven kilometers of the Bulgarian coastal strip, thirty kilometers north of Burgas. The resort is advantageously located away from highways, railways and industrial centers. That is why its beaches are awarded the Blue Flag every year.

    sunny Beach

Sunny Beach is one of the largest tourist centers for which Bulgaria is famous. Hotels - Chaika Resort, Royal Palace Helena Sands, Tarsis Club & Spa and many others - are always crowded during the season. In total, the resort has about a hundred high-class hotels of different star ratings.

Sunny Beach is a place where many come with children. All conditions have been created here for little travelers: a gentle entrance to the water, numerous playgrounds, and swimming pools. Since 2003, a high-quality water park has been operating here.

Another advantage characteristic of this is that all its hotels are built right by the sea, so there is no need to walk long distances to the beach. Sunny Beach is also great for young people. She is attracted here by modern nightclubs and discos. The “golden” youth “hang out” here all season long.

    Hotels

Since Sunny Beach is considered a seaside destination where tourists from all European countries come to relax during the “high” season, the hotel infrastructure here is quite developed. The best hotels in this north of the Bulgarian Riviera not only offer comfortable rooms, quality services, but also have fairly affordable prices. It can be difficult to navigate such diversity on your own, so many people prefer to use the reviews of those lucky ones who have already been here.

    Prices

Bulgaria has always been considered a fairly inexpensive holiday destination, although today for some reason many people prefer Turkey. There is no such resort chaos here as, for example, in Antalya or Alanya, while nature, beaches, and service in most hotels can give a head start to many other countries with no less developed tourist infrastructure. And Sunny Beach is proof of this.

Prices for accommodation in hotels on this coast are especially attractive for those tourists who prefer a budget holiday. For example, you can pay only 30 euros per night in a three-star hotel, which is very inexpensive when you consider how much the average European hostel costs.

As for tour operators who offer to visit Sunny Beach, you can purchase a seven-day trip to a 4* hotel with full board for two for forty thousand rubles.

A trend in many European resorts - aparthotels - are perfect for families or large groups. offers a large selection. It is not difficult to remove them, since there are many offers. And therefore this affects their price level, which is very attractive. For example, the average studio room in the Sunny Beach apart-hotel costs fifty euros.

    Chaika Resort

Part of the Bulgarian tourism concern Victoria Group hotels & resorts, this hotel was built right on the first line. It is considered one of the most popular in the Sunny Beach resort. Chaika Resort is a hotel complex that includes three “wings”. These are located fifty meters from the beaches of Metropol and Arkadia. And in front of them, on the very shore of the sea, stands Chaika Beach, built in 2001.

The complex is considered one of the largest on the entire Bulgarian coast. It is located in the very center of Sunny Beach, eight kilometers from Nessebar - the old town. There is a bus stop literally right next to the hotel, with regular buses to Varna, Burgas, Plovdiv and Sofia. Nearby there are supermarkets and souvenir shops, many cafes and bars, discos.

    Infrastructure

The territory of Chaika Resort (Bulgaria) is completely guarded. The snow-white nine-story building with a blue roof and decoration stands out against the azure background of the sea.

On the ground floor, vacationers can use laundry and dry cleaning services, visit a beauty salon, use a storage room and a lobby. There are also souvenir kiosks and a currency exchange office here.

At the 24-hour reception desk you can order a taxi, buy a sightseeing tour, rent a car and arrange a transfer to the nearest airport, which is thirty kilometers away.

The Chaika Resort hotel has convenient guarded parking, which does not need to be reserved in advance. The last major renovation of the building took place in 2006.

    Rooms

There are a total of 908 rooms in the entire hotel complex, 490 of which are located in Chaika Resort. All of them are decorated stylishly and elegantly, with a predominance of blue and white tones, and equipped with comfortable furniture.

Each room has a furnished balcony in front. The rooms have a TV, refrigerator, paid minibar, telephone, large and comfortable bed, coffee table with chairs, large mirror.

Types of rooms - standard (single and double), Suites and studio.

B - new plumbing, shower or bath, bidet. In superior rooms, guests are offered bathrobes and slippers. Hairdryer available. All necessary hygiene supplies are updated daily. Maids change bed linen twice a week, towels - every day. Pets are not allowed at Chaika Resort. There are also no provisions for people using wheelchairs.

The hotel offers its guests an all-inclusive and half-board concept. The tables are set according to the type in the main restaurant called "Antique". There is also a pizzeria with a terrace located on the roof of the building, as well as an Irish pub.

On the territory of Chaika Resort 4, reviews of the food there are mostly positive, there are six bars: in the lobby, snack bar, by the pool, on the beach. One of them - "Caribbean" - is decorated like a medieval ship, and the other - "Dino" - is also intended for children, who can taste delicious cakes, juices and, of course, ice cream here.

The Italian Castle Restaurant, where tables must be reserved in advance at the reception desk, serves European and local cuisine.

    Beach

The Chaika Resort hotel, reviews of which mostly begin with positive impressions of the sea, is built on the first line. In three minutes from the main building you can walk to a wonderful beach covered with golden, clean sand.

The entrance to the sea is gentle, which is very convenient for children. There is no Black Sea coast on this coast. Sun beds and umbrellas on the beach are paid, but for tourists vacationing on the all-inclusive concept, a fifty percent discount is given.

    For children

Chaika Resort 4* offers its little residents a comfortable children's pool, which is always surrounded by special staff. There is also an interestingly organized mini-club. If desired, parents can add an extra cot to the room.

    Entertainment

There is animation on the territory of Chaika Resort; shows and other entertainment programs are organized in the evenings. Those who do not want to go to the beach can sunbathe by the pool or sit in the bar there.

In the mornings, water aerobics classes are organized here. For those who take care of their health while on vacation, the hotel offers a fitness center and a massage room, for which you need to pay extra. Those interested can visit the sauna and jacuzzi.

Those interested in active recreation are invited to play beach volleyball, attend aerobics and water gymnastics classes. There is also the opportunity to play table tennis or billiards. Water activities are widely available on the beach.
