I know that among holidaymakers in Bali there are many lovers of outdoor activities and water activities, so I also organize diving and snorkeling activities. If you have arrived on the island with the aim of spending your holiday actively or exploring the underwater world, or maybe you just want to add some diving to Bali to your excursions, then feel free to contact me.

  • Tour cost: negotiated individually.
  • Tour time: to be determined individually.

During the tour we will visit the following places:

  • Tulamben Beach.
  • Nusa Lembongan Island.
  • Nusa Penida Island.

What can I offer you during this tour?

1. Low prices in stores.

In Bali you can buy all the necessary equipment for diving and snorkeling. Unfortunately, many sellers inflate prices for tourists, taking advantage of their ignorance. You can avoid this if you use my services as a private guide.

2. Tips for choosing a set of equipment.

I myself love active recreation, so I know where and what equipment to buy. In addition, I speak Russian well, so I can really give you clear recommendations.

3. Selection of suitable dive sites.

From a safety point of view, it is better to plan diving in Bali with a guide, since conditions here are not always favorable for this.

Diving is not easy to learn for beginners, so you should definitely take lessons from an instructor first. I myself will not be able to provide training, because you will need to obtain a diver certificate. But I will advise you the best schools where vocational training is provided.

5. Own car.

Whether you want to snorkel in Bali with or without a guide, you can hire me as a driver in any case. You won't need to rack your brains about how to get to this or that place.

6. Individual approach.

This means you can create your own itinerary if you have any specific preferred spots. Maybe you'd like to add some fun to your water activities with a visit to Mount Batur? Or did you like my other tour, but would you like to combine a trip to excursions in Bali with snorkeling on the island of Nusa Penida? Contact me and you will receive a tour tailored to your wishes.

If you have already decided that you want to choose this particular tour or you have any questions, for your convenience there is a “Contacts” tab on the left, where I have provided contact information to contact me if you are interested in other excursions to Bali. I have many different routes.

How is snorkeling different from diving?

Both of these involve immersion in water. So what's the difference?

Now I will tell you about the fundamental differences between snorkeling and diving:

1. Immersion depth.

Since snorkeling uses only your own lung capacity, diving to a depth of more than 5-6 meters will be difficult even for a physically fit person.

Diving uses special equipment, including scuba gear, which allows you to dive to depths of up to 30 meters. However, to do this you will need to undergo mandatory certification, which I will talk about a little later.

2. Equipment.

For snorkeling, a breathing tube, underwater mask and fins will be sufficient. If you have a wetsuit, it will be more comfortable to swim in it. Although, regular comfortable clothes will do just fine.

When diving, a breathing tube will, of course, not be enough. Here you need more professional and expensive equipment, including scuba gear, diving mask, wetsuit and fins. In addition, since diving occurs to extreme depths, pressure regulators, buoyancy compensators, dive computers and other equipment may also be needed.

3. Necessary preparation.

In principle, snorkeling can be done by anyone who can swim – even children. If you want to get a better look at the underwater world, you will have to dive deep. That is, you need to be able to hold your breath.

In diving, everything is much more serious. More professional skills are needed here. The diver must be resilient enough to withstand pressure at depth, must be able to handle equipment and be prepared to act in extreme situations. Theoretical and practical knowledge can be obtained by completing training. But at the same time, you still need to be in good physical shape.

Diving Certification

As promised, now I will tell you about what training you need to undergo in order to receive a certificate. It should be noted that diving without it is strictly prohibited, so if you have never scuba dived before, you will have to learn first. Luckily, there are schools in Bali that make this easy. If you want, I will take you there.

In fact, there are no international agreements or uniform provisions on what a “diver certificate” is. At the moment, there are more than a dozen different diving training systems with their own certification. The most recognized training system is considered to be the PADI association, whose schools operate all over the world, including Bali.

PADI certification is divided into three main stages:

1. OWD (Open Water Diver)

This is a basic level of training that can be mastered by any healthy person, including a child over 10 years old (a special Junior Open Water Diver certificate is issued for children).

What does the training consist of:

  • Theoretical course.
  • 5 dives in confined waters.
  • 4 dives in the open sea.
  • Possibility of diving in general.
  • Ability to dive to a depth of 18 meters.
  • Possibility to dive with a partner of the same qualification.

Thus, an OWD certificate will allow you to master the basics of diving. And, most likely, this will be enough, unless you decide to become a real professional.

2. AOWD (Advanced Open Water Diver)

An advanced course that will allow you to learn the intricacies of diving (for example, diving in strong currents or at night). This course is also available for children, but the minimum age is 12 years.

What does the training consist of:

  • Theoretical course.
  • 5 dives in non-standard conditions (at night, etc.).

What does having a certificate provide:

  • Ability to dive to depths of up to 30 meters.
  • Ability to dive in challenging environments.

To obtain the AOWD certificate, you must have a basic certificate. Once you have mastered the advanced level of training, you will be able to dive on your own. However, it is still recommended to have a partner.

3.Rescue Diver

This is a specialized course for rescue divers and is unlikely to be necessary for the average person to take. But, since we are talking about the certification system, I will tell you about this level.

What does the training consist of:

  • Theoretical course.
  • Practical training on preventing accidents on water and responding to extreme situations.

What does having a certificate provide:

  • Opportunity to work as a rescue diver on any beach in the world.

To earn this certification, you must complete basic and advanced training. Even children over 12 years old can receive a certificate.

Places in Bali for diving and snorkeling

East of the island in the town of Tulamben

The east coast of Bali, particularly the region called Amed, is ideal for both types of diving. It is here that the beaches are located in small bays, where the sea is quiet and calm, and there are practically no waves, unlike the south, beloved by surfers. Corals can be seen here already 5-10 meters from the shore, along with colorful fish swimming among them, so this place is suitable for any dives, even the shallowest ones. The village of Tulamben is located just 20 minutes north of Amed.

Why Tulamben?

On the local beach, just 30 meters from the shore, lies the real wreck of the Liberty ship. This ship was torpedoed during World War II near the island of Lombok, and then found itself towed to the coast of Bali - just to the beach of the village of Tulamben. After the eruption of the Gunug Agung volcano in 1963, the ship sank at a depth of a couple of meters from the surface of the water. This means that you can see it even if you are armed with a snorkel and mask.

During the entire time that the ship was under water, living organisms managed to populate it, which fish come to feast on. So even if you are more interested in the underwater world than the ship, you will still have something to see.

Nusa Lembongan Island

The small island of Nusa Lembongan is one of three islands in the southeast of Bali, along with Nusa Keningan and Nusa Penida. You can get to the islands in about 1 hour from the ports of Sanur and Padangbai across a small strait (20 km from Bali).

What you need to know about the beaches of Nusa Lembongan?

  • There is snow-white sand here.
  • There is clear azure water here.
  • Beautiful fish live here, and you can also see coral reefs underwater.
  • water depth ranges from 5 to 40 meters.
  • Suitable for both types of diving.

Nusa Lembongan.

If you are interested in information about dive sites in the vicinity of Lembongan Island, then read the following articles:

Nusa Penida Island

The largest of the three islands on the east coast of Bali attracts divers with one of its features. The fact is that ocean currents from the north, going towards the island of Penida, raise large masses of cold water from the depths. They carry sharks, the largest manta ray, giant horse mackerel, and also rare fish with the interesting appearance of the mola-mola to the upper layers of the ocean.

What else is remarkable about the beaches of Nusa Penida?

  • coral reefs.
  • underwater grottoes.
  • clusters of ball fish.
  • populations of giant tortoises.

So, if your plans do not include lying idle on a sandy beach, and you are looking for a real active holiday, then this tour is ideal for you. Snorkeling is available to everyone - both adults and children. And if you want something more memorable, then diving in Bali would probably be your best choice. And I will help you purchase the necessary equipment, recommend schools for training, and also become your personal taxi driver, translator and just a good conversationalist.

Read a detailed article about the island of Nusa Penida.

Why should you contact me?

1. Security.

I know which places are suitable for diving and snorkeling and which are not. In Bali this plays a big role: there are many places with steep waves that are suitable exclusively for surfing.

2. Language.

I have been working as a Russian-speaking guide since 2008 and during this time I have mastered the language quite well. In a foreign country, where you cannot be understood even in English, it is much more comfortable to be next to a guide who can also serve as a translator for you.

3. Car.

For diving and snorkeling you will need certain equipment. And, if in the first case it can somehow be carried in your hands (although this is also inconvenient), then the diving equipment will need to be carried by transport. I can offer you my services as a chauffeur with a personal car. At your disposal is a spacious trunk that can accommodate all your gear, as well as a comfortable interior with air conditioning.

4. License.

I have a guide's license, which means that I am acting officially. For you, this means a guarantee of the reliability of my services. Many people work here as guides, but not everyone has a license.

5. Saving money.

With me, you won’t be overpriced in stores, and besides, I know where they sell the right equipment for comfortable snorkeling and diving.

We visited 2 sites: Manta Point and Crystal Bay. Great snorkeling! The hotel was located in the Cangu area, so they organized an additional transfer for me (with an additional payment of 422,000 rupees), the manager contacted me via WhatsApp and seemed to resolve all the issues. The car arrived on time and took me to the diving center, where instructor Anna met me. Anna is a cool instructor, very attentive, positive and sociable! She told me everything, asked all the necessary questions regarding motion sickness, how I stay on the water, etc. At the diving center they select all the necessary equipment, but I came with my own, the only thing they suggested was to take another mask (since mine was quite old, and the instructor was afraid that it might leak). At the office, we were immediately divided into groups (2 people each) and each group was provided with an instructor. I had a local instructor, Bobby, who was very attentive (like all instructors). Then we got into 2 cars and were taken to high-speed boats. We got there quite quickly, in less than an hour. At Manta Point the water is deep blue, a very beautiful island. They gave me a wetsuit because there are jellyfish that sting. The instructor is nearby and looks at all the marine life and informs you if manta rays and other interesting inhabitants appear, so that you don’t miss all the most interesting things while admiring the fish. Manta rays were and were always present. As soon as I plunged into the water, there were 2 manta rays above me. they are wonderful and very big. This is my first snorkeling and at first I couldn’t dive, but Bobby coached me, it was very funny, but after 3 tries I succeeded! And I was already diving well, the instructor gave a “5” to the good student and tried to show all the beauty, when I didn’t surface for a long time, he controlled the process. There was garbage, but closer to the rocks and not in such large quantities. The group with divers saw a lot more sea gatherers at the 2 sites up close, so next time I want to try it with scuba diving. The water was calm and clear, there were few boats and no people nearby, no one was bothering us. When we got on the boat, everyone shared their opinion that it was the best dive and the instructor noticed that this time it was really the best. Next we went to the Crystal Bay site. It's no less beautiful there! During the dive, the instructor immediately noticed a turtle and we swam towards it! There are a lot of reefs, corals, anemones and other marine plants of unusual beauty on Crystal Bay, a lot of bright fish, you dive and they swim around you at arm's length, and also swim to the surface of the water. There are deep places, and there are shallows near the shore, where the inhabitants are the same, but you can look at them without diving (for those who don’t know how or are afraid, this is a good option). The instructor showed a crevice in the rock completely covered with bright blue-violet corals that looked like flowers; there were many sea urchins resting in the holes in the rock, although you could pull them out with your hand and you don’t need to dive for this either, but, of course, I didn’t touch them, although I really wanted to) ). Saw a striped sea snake. Crystal Bay is definitely my idol! Next, we were fed lunch on the boat and taken back to the office, and from there to the hotel. This was my best day. By the way, even the “captain” of our boat (boat) was very attentive; while driving back, he slowed down at one boat, which was sailing on one engine, and began to discuss something. Anna said that he is very responsible and always offers to help people, no matter what happens to them. But everything turned out well and we rushed on. I’m already considering the possibility of vacationing there next time so that I can look at these wonderful marine inhabitants every day! So, when I read reviews before buying a ticket that the staff were not attentive and so on... a lie! The next day I flew to Moscow, but the manager contacted me and asked how I liked it and offered an excursion (the group had just arrived) of climbing the Batur volcano, but, unfortunately, I couldn’t. I asked a couple of questions regarding holidays in Bali and recommended places to stay, etc. (my first trip to Bali), the manager was happy to tell interesting points. Thank you all very much for a wonderful day!

If you are looking for a trendy resort with a nice and calm beach then Nusa Dua- this is your place. Nusa Dua Beach is everything you would expect from a tropical beach: beautiful white sandy beaches, trees that provide natural shade, deep blue sea and sunny skies. Artificial breakwaters in the sea break the waves far from the shore, making the sea ideal for swimming. Unlike, there are no algae here so you feel comfortable when you enter the water.

This beach is located in a resort area, so there is no traffic noise. And besides, there are no street vendors. Unlike the beach, vendors will not be able to enter the Nusa Dua beaches area, so you will definitely enjoy your time at the beach. Thus, the authorities have created a secluded enclave for tourists who pay more. For this reason, there are only 4* and 5* resorts in Nusa Dua. The location for this tourism project was carefully selected to ensure that Nusa Dua was sparsely populated, had a pleasant climate and most importantly had beautiful white beaches.

Hotels range from merely good to world class. Eating out will cost much more than in Kuta. This is a place for honeymooners... If your budget allows it, this is the best place to stay, although it is located too far from the center of Bali. The water is clear and not suitable for surfing. This place is ideal for families with children. The sea here is very spacious and calm, although in some places you can be pulled into the ocean, so be careful. After all, the sea is always unpredictable. Take precautions and everything will be just fine. Don't choose this resort if you are young and alone, this is not the place for you, especially if you want parties and more people.

Beach characteristics:

Type of beach holiday: family vacation (with children)
Beach: light sand
From the airport: 10 km
To Kuta: 10 km
To Nusa Dua: 0 km
Nearest city: Kuta
Coast of Bali: southern
Suitable for diving: No
Suitable for snorkeling: Yes
Suitable for surfing: No
Conditions for swimming: Calm sea, clear water, clean beaches with light sand. In some places it may be pulled into the ocean.
Peculiarities: Expensive resort, home to huge international 5-star hotels, well-developed infrastructure with restaurants, shops and a shopping center.

They have always been on the top list of tourists who come to relax in Bali. And snorkeling is no exception. It is rare that a visitor refuses the opportunity to dive into the underwater world and study it from the inside when it is nearby.

What is snorkeling

Snorkeling is a special type of diving under water to a depth of no more than 5-10 meters, in which oxygen is supplied to a person using a breathing tube. For comfortable swimming, the diver wears additional equipment during the process: a mask and fins. The first allows him to carefully examine all the beauty of the underwater flora and fauna during a dive, the second allows him to develop speed and save some energy during long swims.

Almost the entire coast of Bali is ideal for snorkeling enthusiasts. Here, this type of entertainment does not even require any special preparation or long training; snorkeling on the island is a pleasure! However, when planning this leisure activity, do not forget about basic safety rules:

  • take out travel insurance;
  • always communicate the location of the selected location to other people;
  • choose the right place for snorkeling in Bali;
  • and realistically assess the capabilities of your body, the features of the ocean snorkeling site, as well as possible dangers from sharp reefs or dangerous fish and other underwater animals living in the chosen place.

It is best to go to the selected location together with an experienced partner or a professional instructor who, if necessary, can easily and quickly eliminate any possible danger without panic. Remember, each location can be fraught with a lot of surprises: strong water currents, sudden ebbs, depth changes and bottom irregularities. And it would be better to study it together with the person who knows about all these nuances.

Bali is a paradise for underwater explorers. This Indonesian island is part of the so-called “coral triangle”, which covers 5.7 million square kilometers of ocean waters, which opens up great opportunities for lovers of the underwater world. We present to your attention a list of the best places for snorkeling with their detailed descriptions, most of which are wildly popular with visitors.

Tulamben Beach

This is famous. Many tourists come here specifically to go underwater and take a closer look at the local underwater attractions - the coral garden and the sunken cargo ship Liberty.

The Coral Garden is a magnificent combination of original rocky reefs, soft and hard corals, and artificial structures. It originates almost from the very shore of the beach. Here you can find clown fish, box fish, shrimp, squid, barracuda and octopus. In total, the garden is home to about 400 species of reef fish and about 100 species of large pelagic fish.

The wreck of the USS Liberty is the wreck of an American ship that unsuccessfully attempted to pass through the Lombok Strait during World War II. Today the ship looks like an artificial reef, surrounded on all sides by magnificent corals. It is located near the shore and is submerged in shallow water, to a depth of about 30 meters. During the dry season, when the water becomes crystal clear, you can even see it from the surface without plunging into the water. To be honest, this military boat is nothing special, but against the background of corals it looks very unusual.

You can get to Tulamben Beach in different ways: from anywhere in Bali. Or by taking one of the regular flights of the bus carrier Perama Tour from Densapar or Kuta airport and the resorts of Candidasa, Sanur, Padang Bai or Tirta Gangi. In order to avoid misunderstandings, it is better to check the schedule and cost of the move on the official website of the specified carrier.

These wonderful places are a chain of three islands: Lembongan, Ceningan, Penida. The first island can be reached by boat from the port of Sinur, the second one can be reached by bike or walk across the suspension bridge from Lembongan, the third one can be crossed by ferry from the port of Padang Bai or on a low-speed boat from the port of Sanur.

Nusa Penida is the only place in Bali where you can swim in the upper water layers with manta rays - rays with fin-wings, the span of which reaches 7 meters and twisted blades-horns. These amazing creatures of nature, also called “sea devils,” often emerge in this place from the depths, almost to the very surface of the water, showing great curiosity towards people and allowing divers to swim next to them. However, when you meet them, do not try to touch these creatures with your hands: they are not dangerous, but can still be frightened by such movements in their direction. And then snorkeling will be completely different.

The coastline of Nusa Ceningan Island also hides a lot of interesting things for scuba diving enthusiasts. Here you can admire not only numerous corals, but also get acquainted with the amazing beauties of the rich underwater world. The dive area is similar to the Nusa Lembongan area. However, there are many times fewer people here.

The aforementioned island of Nusa Lembongan is rich in mangroves, which serve as a kind of “nursery” for many fry before they end up on the reef. Mangroves are located mainly in the northern part of the island. The number of fish swimming here is amazing, and each of them stands out for its beauty in its own way. A quiet current prevails here, so beginners feel as safe as possible in these waters.

This wonderful snorkeling location is located in Barat National Park. The island itself is uninhabited, the current is calm, and the underwater world is rich and varied. Here you can even swim with sea turtles - this is the best place in Bali for this.

The most famous place on Mejangan Island is Pos Dua Reef. It adjoins a white sandy beach and, as you dive deeper into the water, opens into a majestic underwater canyon with coral-encrusted walls along which reef fish swim. The depth of the canyon is 40 meters! But despite such a scale, there are not very many tourists here.

The local waters also have their own coral garden. It is located on the northwestern coast of an uninhabited island and originates at a depth of 5 m from the surface. Here you can find octopuses and various fish: moray eels, barracudas, unicorn fish, clown fish and box fish. However, considering the local inhabitants, he does not recommend swimming too close to the reefs: there you can also meet dangerous reef sharks.

You can get to Mejangan Island by boat from hotels located in the Pameturan area. From central, southern or eastern Bali - by bike or taxi.

Amed is a fairly popular place among tourists. And many of them come here not only for diving and snorkeling, but also for an upscale beach holiday. Notable locations on the island are the sunken Japanese patrol boat from World War II and Dzhemeluk Bay, famous for its coral columns.

The boat is underwater at a depth of only 6 meters. And it is clearly visible from the surface of the water on a clear, sunny day. The ship is densely covered with corals. They are home to a large number of diverse representatives of underwater fauna - fish, crabs, octopuses, mollusks, sea worms and other tropical creatures. They should be treated with extreme caution: some of them are poisonous. Dzhemeluk Bay is famous among snorkelers for its transparency, which makes it possible to view the numerous beauties of the underwater world even at a depth of 20-22 meters.

You can get to these locations using a private transfer from the Amed resort, as well as by taxi or public bus from Kuta Airport.

This place is popular both among experienced tourists who choose it because of its location near tourist destinations, and among beginners who prefer this place because they do not have to travel far. Snorkeling here is officially regulated, so you won’t be able to go into the water on your own or rent a boat. You can admire the beauty of the underwater world only by pre-registering for an excursion at a local diving center or hotel. The duration of a standard excursion is 60-90 minutes, of which 15 minutes are dedicated specifically to snorkeling. Of course, this is not much, but it is enough for a novice tourist or a bored vacationer.

You can get to this location from Kuta airport (20 minutes) or Seminyak area (30 minutes). From other parts of Bali you can get there by bus, taxi or rented bike.

In this part of Bali, a particularly noteworthy location for snorkeling enthusiasts is the Blue Lagoon. It is located a five-minute walk from Padang Bai and is closed on both sides by cliffs.

This location is famous for its small reef, with a huge number of all kinds of coral fish, and unusually calm water currents, allowing even beginners who do not have any skills to snorkel. Local inhabitants of the Blue Lagoon, without any fear, swim up to vacationing tourists to get some food. They are so accustomed to human attention. And being in the middle of them in the midst of feeding is a real adventure!

You can get to Padang Bai without any problems from any resort town in Bali. From Denpasar to here, for example, the journey will take 1.5 hours, by bus from Kuta, Sanur or Ubud - the same amount of time, and by ferry from Lombok - almost twice as long.

Of course, the above places are far from the only places in Bali where you can go snorkeling. But knowing about these locations, you can easily plan your tourist route and enjoy snorkeling in Bali.

In addition to those who come to Bali for surfing or a beach holiday, there are also divers. Those who fly to Indonesia and in particular to Bali for diving usually have their own, completely different from other tourists, route and places to stay in Bali.

If you are traveling solely for diving, then BaliBlogger recommends that you look beyond the Kuta and Seminyak areas. You are better off going to the east coast of Bali - in the area of Amed and its neighboring areas. This is where Bali's main diving centers are located, and where there are most places for trial, training and advanced dives. In addition to Amed, there are diving centers in Nusa Dua and Sanur, as well as on the neighboring islands - closest to Bali - and Nusa Penida; and on the islands a little further away - on, for example.

Almost all diving centers in Bali provide training and diving according to the PADI system, test dives and organize snorkeling. Also, many of them organize one-day dive trips or multi-day diving safaris to the neighboring islands of Bali and other islands of Indonesia.

You can see approximate prices for snorkeling and diving.

Top diving and snorkeling spots in Bali

These are the places that experienced divers usually come to Bali for, but BaliBlogger recommends going there for those who just like to dive with a mask and fins (especially since in all these places you can rent them for $5-10).

USAT Liberty

The USAT Liberty wreck at Tulamben is one of the most popular diving and snorkeling sites in Bali. This American warship was sunk by Japanese torpedoes during the Second World War, was dragged by rescue expeditions to the shore of the eastern coast of Bali, and after a major earthquake “slipped” from the shore back into the water, but not very far, where it lies now. The ship can be easily reached from the shore and it lies shallow, so it’s interesting to even just snorkel around it. The ship has long been overgrown with corals, in which there are many different fish; if you are lucky, you will find schools of silver tuna or various other fish. If you want a special experience, take some bread with you, you are guaranteed to be surrounded by schools of different fish.

The ship is located in Tulamben, all Balinese diving centers organize dive trips there, but you can come on your own, rent masks and fins or a test dive course on site.

Amed

Amed is the center of the diving scene on Bali's east coast. Amed is quiet and calm, along the shore there are cozy hotels and cafes, and everything around - signs, dive centers, signs - indicates that you have found yourself in a real diving paradise. It's quiet and calm, especially peaceful, and definitely worth staying at least a day or two in Amed and diving at the local dive spots. Again, all this can be done with a mask if you are not a fan of scuba diving.

There are many places to dive around Amed. For example, on Jemeluk beach, or in the village of Lipah, or on the easternmost point of Bali - in a place called Gili Selang.

Lipah shipwreck

The small fishing village of Lipah is famous for the shipwreck located in the northern part of Lipah Bay. The ship can be reached by fishing boat, or by foot from the northernmost tip of the bay. Shipwrecks, corals and various fish will appear before your eyes. The place is suitable for diving and snorkeling, but be careful as there are strong currents in this place.

Gili Tepekong

This very small volcanic island is located near the coast in the Candidasa area. A beautiful underwater world has settled around this island: various corals and other underwater vegetation, as well as schools of large fish such as tuna, sunfish and even a reef shark (not dangerous to humans). The neighboring islands may also be interesting to explore - Gili Mimpang and Gili Biaha.

The Blue Lagoon is not only one of the picturesque and well-hidden beaches on the east coast of Bali, but also an excellent place for diving and snorkeling. The Blue Lagoon is shallow, you can swim to the reef on your own, the reef is clearly visible from the surface of the water, and you can rent masks and fins on the beach. The Blue Lagoon is located very close to the Padang Bai port.

Many dive centers bring students here for test dives, night dives and various photo excursions.

Napoleon Reef

Napoleon Reef is located in one of the most remote places from the usual tourist trails in Bali - this is the northwestern coast of Bali, near the village of Pemuteran.

Menjangan Island

Menjangan Island, like Napoleon Reef, is located in the farthest point of Bali from Kuta, in the most northwestern part of the island within the national park. This uninhabited island is popular among divers. And among those who like to dive with a mask and fins, Menjangan is considered the most interesting place in Bali.

To get to the island you need to rent a boat from Labuan Lalang; in addition to the cost of the boat, you also need to buy a ticket to the park itself. Each boat is accompanied by a guide. All diving centers in Bali organize diving excursions to Menjangan.

Crystal Bay

Near the island of Bali, just a couple of hours away by boat, is the rich underwater world of Nusa Penida. You can rent a boat for the whole day and ride around this island, dive and explore new beaches, or you can go to the island for the night and go diving from there.

Crystal Bay is shallow and the water is usually clear enough that you will be able to spot fish of varying sizes. But beware of the currents, they are very serious there, it is better to go diving only with an experienced guide.

Manta Point

Another famous diving site on Nusa Penida is Manta Point. If you are lucky, in clear and clean water you will be able to see huge, winged manta rays.
