Get to the center of Moscow to take part in festive festivities, get to the most interesting sites festival "Journey to Christmas" and visiting loved ones this New Year will be easier: for the convenience of Muscovites, on the first night of 2019, the metro, Moscow Central Circle (MCC), ground transport and commuter trains will operate on a special schedule.

How the metro works on New Year's Eve

The work of the metro and MCC will last throughout New Year's Eve. From December 31 to January 1, all subway stations and passages will operate without interruption. Train intervals will range from 3.5 to 15 minutes.

This is not the first time that round-the-clock operation has been introduced in the capital. So, last year, on New Year’s Eve, more than 500 thousand passengers used ground transport, the metro and the MCC. At the same time, 35 thousand people celebrated the holiday directly in carriages and at metro stations.

Ground transportation

From December 31 to January 1, the operating hours of ground transport will also be extended. This will affect the routes that are most popular among citizens. Buses on 99 of them will run until 03:30, on 60 - around the clock. Passengers will also be able to use 13 night routes.

The bus interval will be from 25 to 30 minutes. You can view the schedule and plan your trip in advance on the Mosgortrans website and the Moscow Transport portal.

In addition, additional routes have been launched for spectators of the New Year's shows, which will be held on the territory of the Luzhniki Olympic complex and at the Megasport Sports Palace. Thus, bus L runs from Luzhniki to the Sportivnaya metro station with an additional stop at the Zapashny Brothers Circus. On December 31 it will be open from 09:00 to 19:40, and on January 1 from 14:00 to 22:40.

Bus E runs from the Megasport Sports Palace arena to the Dynamo metro station. Its opening hours on December 31 are from 11:00 to 17:30. Bus stops are located on Leningradsky Prospekt at the intersection with Teatralnaya Alley and on Khodynsky Boulevard near the CSKA Metro stop.

Electric trains

For the New Year, the operating hours of 22 electric trains in all directions of the Moscow transport hub will be extended. You can find out the schedule on the website of the Central Suburban Passenger Company and the Moscow-Tver Suburban Passenger Company.

In addition, on New Year's Eve, four additional trains will be appointed: No. 6487 Moscow - Nara (departure at 02:35) and No. 6488 Nara - Moscow (departure at 00:42) in the Kiev direction; No. 6792 Lvovskaya - Tsaritsyno (departure at 00:50) and No. 6791 Tsaritsyno - Podolsk (departure at 02:55) in the Kursk direction.

From December 30 to January 8, the train schedule was also changed to Leningrad direction October Railway. All regular trains and Lastochka trains on the Moscow-Tver (Konakovo) section will run according to the weekend schedule. According to the Komsomolskaya Pravda website, shopping centers do not plan to lose revenue, especially since Muscovites themselves will come running at the last minute to buy a dress, shoes, or gifts. And yet, before the New Year, shopping centers will close several hours earlier.

“Until December 30, we are extending our opening hours by an hour - until 23.00. The shopping center will also be open on December 31 - from 10.00 to 19.00, but January 1 is a day off. Starting January 2, we will switch to the usual hours - from 10.00 to 22.00,” said the Okhotny Ryad shopping center.

GUM on Red Square will also be open an hour longer on New Year's Eve - from 10.00 to 23.00. GUM is closed on January 1, and from January 2 it is open from 10.00 to 22.00.

“We will work on December 31 from 10.00 to 19.00, on January 1 we have a day off, and from January 2 as usual - from 10.00 to 22.00,” they say at the Evropeisky shopping center.

On January 1, grocery stores selling essential goods are recommended to open no later than 10.00.

From January 1 to January 8, food and non-food stores operate according to their usual weekend hours. This does not apply to those retail outlets for which the working day is assigned by the store administration. However, the hours of 24-hour stores will not change.

Public service centers

On New Year's Eve, December 31, district MFCs receive visitors from 8.00 to 20.00, flagship offices - from 10.00 to 20.00, the Palace of Public Services at VDNKh - from 10.00 to 22.00;

- from January 2 to January 8 (inclusive) - public service centers are open on duty, where you can register state death (the full list is on the MFC website). Births can be registered only at the public services center of the Matushkino district and at the flagship office of the Central Administrative District in the Afimall shopping center in Moscow City. Public service duty centers are open from 11.00 to 20.00. But on January 7, these MFCs do not work.

Payment of pensions
