Embraer EJet- a family of twin-engine jet passenger regional airliners. Includes a series of aircraft models E-170, E-175, E-190 and E-195. Produced by the Brazilian conglomerate Embraer since 2002.

Embraer E-Jet History

The E-Jet family has become a logical continuation of the Embraer ERJ line of aircraft. Having upgraded and introduced the ERJ-135 model to the market in 1997 Embraer hinted that she was exploring the possibility of creating an aircraft with a capacity of 70 people. Officially, the E-Jet program was announced at the Paris Air Show in Le Bourget in 1999. The launch customers were the French RCAE (Régional Compagnie Aérienne Européenne) with an order for 10 E-170s and the Swiss Crossair with an order for 60 aircraft (30 E-170s and 30 E-190s).

Aircraft production began in 2002 at Embraer's new factory in Sao José dos Campos, near Sao Paulo. After two years of testing and certification, the Embraer E-170 aircraft received type certificates from the aviation authorities of Brazil, the EU and the USA.

At the Le Bourget Air Show in 2013, Embraer officially announced the launch of a program to create the second generation of the E-Jets family of passenger aircraft. The new family was named E-Jets E2; it will include three new liners: E175-E2, E190-E2 and E195-E2. The entry into service of the first E190-E2 aircraft is scheduled for the first half of 2018, the E195-E2 in 2019 and the E175-E2 in 2020.

Embraer E-Jet family

The E-Jet family is formed from two aircraft families and a business jet variant. The first family is made up of a pair of E-170 and E-175, the second of a pair of E-190 and E-195. E-170 and E-175 carry 70 to 88 passengers and are 95% unified. Aircraft E-190 and E-195 are equipped with other engines, larger wings and tails, as well as reinforced landing gear. Approximately 89% of the elements of all aircraft are identical: cockpits, most of fuselage, cabin layout, etc.

E-170/175

Aircraft E-170 and E-175 carry from 70 to 88 passengers and are the "youngest" in the family. The aircraft are equipped with General Electric CF34-8E engines. The pair is a direct competitor to the Canadian aircraft, as well as the Dutch.

These were the first aircraft of the family: the E-170 with the number PP-XJE was rolled out of the factory in 2001 and 119 days later it took off for the first time. This aircraft flew in the US until 2012. It was he who was introduced in 2002 to the Association of Regional Carriers (Regional Airline Association). The E-175 was introduced in 2003 and delivered to US Airways in 2005.

E-190/195

Aircraft E-190 and E-195 have stretched fuselages and carry from 98 to 124 passengers. The increase in the mass of the aircraft required an increase in the wing, empennage, strengthening of the landing gear and the installation of more powerful General Electric CF34-10E engines. These aircraft directly compete with Canadian and the latest, as well as "younger" liners of Europeans and Americans - and.

The first flight of the E-190 was made in March 2004, the E-195 took off in December of the same year. The launch customer for the aircraft was New York's JetBlue with its record-breaking order for 100 jets. Also, JetBlue received an order from the British low-cost airline Flybe for 14 E-195s.

Embraer Lineage 1000

In May 2006, Embraer announced a plan to build a business jet based on the E-190. Flight range increased to 4,200 miles (6,750 km). The aircraft received a VIP cabin for 19 passengers. FAA Lineage 1000 certified in 2009. By 2014, 13 aircraft had been produced.

Operation Embraer E-Jet

The first Embraer 170 was delivered to the Polish airline LOT in 2004, followed by aircraft for US Ariways and Alitalia. Launch customers delayed receipt of the aircraft due to financial problems: Crossair was restructured to become Swissair and RCAE changed order for LR versions and received them in 2006. Embraer received the largest order for E-Jet from JetBlue - immediately for 100 aircraft with an option for another 100.

In 2008, Embraer handed over the 400th aircraft to Republic Airlines. By 2013, the 1,000th E-Jet family aircraft was solemnly rolled out at the company's plant - another E-175 for Republic Airlines in American Eagle livery with the signature "Thousandth E-Jet" above the windows.

In total, by 2014, 1012 aircraft were produced from a portfolio of firm orders for 1276 units and an option for another 583.

Scheme of cabins of E-jet liners

There are currently 536 Embraer E-190 (Jet) or Embraer ERJ-190 class aircraft in active service. It is planned to commission another 55 aircraft of this series and 83 aircraft of the second generation of the E-190 E2 class. The embraer 190 "works" in countries such as the USA, China, Kazakhstan, Mexico, Canada, Colombia, Nigeria, Kenya, Moldova, Ukraine, Myanmar, Australia, Germany. Thus, Ember 190 is quite popular and in demand, especially when it comes to regional airlines. In addition, passengers claim that this plane is quite comfortable and has a soft takeoff and landing, although some still note that the plane “twitches” a little, especially before landing. One way or another, it is necessary to consider it in more detail.

Manufacturer

The Embraer 190 is a twin-engine narrow-body medium-range passenger aircraft. Produced by the Brazilian company Embraer (President John Slettery).

Start date of release, modifications

Serial production of the Embraer began in 2002, although the aircraft was first presented at the Le Bourget air show in 1999, and development began as early as 1998. The developers tried, first of all, to create a model that would be competitive with Boeing and Airbus.

Over the production of aircraft typeEmbraer 190such companies (the best in modern aviation) worked as:

  • honeywell;
  • General Electric (turbofan motors CF3410E - the main plus of an aircraft of this class and type);
  • Parker Hannifin.

Currently there are modificationsEmbraer E-Jet(except 190):

  • E-170 is the very first, basic, modification of the aircraft of this series;
  • E-175 - we can say that the E-190 was created on the basis of the E170 / 175 series aircraft;
  • E-195 - interestingly, this is the longest aircraft in its class, its capacity is 122 passengers.

In 2018-2020, it is planned to start production of the second generation of these aircraft, which was announced back in 2013. It is planned to release such improved models as:

  • E175-E2 (released in 2020);
  • E190-E2 (to be released in 2018);
  • E195-E2 (to be released in 2019).

In 2014, the start of work on a cargo version of the aircraft was also announced, but the date of mass production has not yet been announced.

Directly, the E-190 is available in two versions:

  • ERJ-190-100;
  • ERJ-190-200.

They have no global differences from each other. The only thing is that the "hundred" is designed for 98 passengers, and the "dvuhsotka" for 108 passengers. Because of this, aircraft have different lengths and takeoff times.

The price of the aircraft is 32-45 million dollars for a new aircraft. When repurchased, the price drops to about $20 million. From all other aircraft of this class, the E-190 is distinguished by a longer wing, an improved elevator, and more powerful engines. Also, the developers thought out a remote control system using electric drives.

By technical specifications aircraft of this type is very similar to the following aircraft:

  • Airbus A318;
  • Boeing 737;
  • An-148.

The scheme of seats in the cabin

The standard E-190 has a fairly roomy interior with 25 rows. Armchairs are arranged according to the scheme 2 + 2. The distance between the seats in the cabin - 82 cm (32 inches; only in the 12th row before emergency exits - 38 inches). The seats are designed for a maximum passenger height of 1.90 m. The width between the seats is 18 cm, the width of the armrests is 5 cm. The aisle width is 50 cm. All seats are equipped with special pockets for newspapers and small equipment.

The seats are quite comfortable, passengers will be assured that they can get up and sit down without disturbing their neighbors.

There is indirect lighting and spacious luggage racks located above the seats. There are 2 toilets in the cabin. The width of the cabin is only 2.74 m.

Description of seats by blocks of rows

In standard e190s, there is rarely a division into classes, the entire cabin is an economy class (although division is provided in some aircraft: 88 economy class seats and 9 business class seats). Best Places(according to the carrier itself) are located on the right on the 5th row and on the left on the 6th row (next to the flight attendant department and toilets). It is good to sit (especially for parents with small children) on the left and right on the 18th row.

If we consider various modifications, then we can provide information about the dimensions of the cabin in the following table.

Characteristics of aircraft cabins

CharacteristicsЕ-190 (96 passengers; economy business)Е-190 (100 passengers; economy)Е-190 (114 passengers; economy)

Best PlacesRow 4, Row 11, Rows 1-2, and seats in row 1, according to passengers, are less comfortable than in the secondfrom 1-10 row (in the bow)1-2 row

Facilities

There are 4 flight attendants on the plane. Two of them are located in the nose of the aircraft, and two - in the tail. Passengers can contact them if any problem arises.

There are places for cradles (18 row, 5 row). The best conditions are provided for business class passengers (in an aircraft designed for 96 passengers): there are chargers, wardrobes.

The business class is separated from the rest of the aircraft only by a small curtain, which is removed during takeoff and landing.

There is a well-thought-out security system on board. There are also certain rules of conduct that passengers are told about.

Embayer aircraft have many advantages and disadvantages. The forums say that these are comfortable aircraft, where there is almost no turbulence, no shaking during takeoff and landing, and no extra noise is heard. Engineering solutions also ensure the safest possible takeoff and landing. By the way, accidents with aircraft of this type are extremely rare; in 2017, only 6 such cases were recorded. This is mainly the cancellation of takeoff and landing due to minor technical malfunctions.

Airplanes are a real find for regional aviation, which is why the company has a lot of orders today.

Video

I continue my story about yesterday at the Saratov airport. More precisely, I already wrote what was at the airfield (), and stopped at how they left me inside the plane :) train from Samara :)
As you can see, I agree :)

I'm sitting, not touching anyone, looking out the window, when suddenly...

This aircraft is being treated with anti-icing fluid.

Then we roll out. We reach the end of the runway.

We turn around.

And we take off!

Crew overflights continue - today another 5 pilots are practicing. To get a permit, you need to fly a certain number of hours with an instructor. Everything is serious. Such requirements of the Federal Air Transport Agency. Instructors from Brazil and Ukraine will fly with our pilots for another six months (!).
As the pilots themselves admit, and they are experienced pilots of the Yak-42, it is not difficult to retrain for a new type of aircraft. The principles are the same. They have already worked out the practice on flight simulators and now fly in real conditions. While someone is driving, the rest are standing and peeping :-) The situation is just like in an exam. Don't get close.

The cabin is also cramped. The crew of the aircraft is 2 people, so the cabin is small. But instead of two today there are always three.

Flying in an airplane is not like driving a car. Everything is stricter - all kinds of logs are filled in, fuel consumption is noted, pilots' flight hours are recorded.

Each 5 crews trained by cutting circles over the airfield according to the following scheme: takeoff - 2 go-arounds - landing. Corrections were also made related to the passage of other aircraft to the airfield. Once flew somewhere very far from Saratov. It’s a strange feeling: in just over 3 hours, 15 times from the SHI, fly to Solnechny, visit Raskovo, fly over the Volga through Shumeyka, Engels, and return through Sokolovaya Gora.
Most impressive is the go-around. The plane lands, lands, suddenly the engines are switched to takeoff mode and you start to soar into the sky again with a sharp acceleration and roar! Feelings are unforgettable.

The entire airfield is in full view.

After the third round we sit down. Below, bloggers and airport staff are watching.

Then the crew changes, the pilots share their impressions.

Those who have worked their hours at the helm sit down and watch the flight from the side, evaluate the aircraft as passengers, and compare.

Another landing, and the Moscow flight is already waiting for us on the taxiway.

We reach the turning pocket of the runway, turn around and go back to its beginning, take off. Passengers flying to Moscow are waiting for us and look through the windows at an unusual plane.

All pilots are satisfied with the new machine. And in general, the fact that the airport and the airline are developing. But if a new investor had not bought it from Aeroflot, we would have mourned it, like our aircraft factory. We would go to Russian Railways and dream of a new airport. Now, besides Moscow, a number of other areas are being developed. Already next year, flights to Egypt, Greece are planned, there are plans for flights to Bulgaria and Barcelona. And right now it will be possible to fly on Embraers to Prague and the United Arab Emirates.

By the way, at the same time, I noticed some useful little things. This is if you buy a ticket for Embraer. The noisiest places in the cabin are a little further than the middle. Most of the space to sit at the 2AC seats (this is in the so-called comfort class, or more correctly Eurobusiness). Rolls more in the tail. Best Views through the window - in the forefront, but in the very last, too, is not bad.
But let's still get into the cockpit.

The sun is starting to set.

It's time for us to land.

That's how I became the first passenger of the new plane.
