Elephants in Thailand are recognized as sacred animals and are an integral part of Thai life. If earlier elephants were used as a means of transportation or labor, now elephants have become part of the tourism business. Today, the most popular activity for tourists is elephant riding, as well as watching a fascinating elephant show.

On this moment There are several parks in Pattaya where you can ride elephants. The biggest and popular place elephant habitat is an elephant village where there are different programs with these animals. In addition to riding, here you can swim with an elephant in the lake, feed and play with baby elephants.

Pattaya Elephant Village

Today it is the most famous elephant colony, which is very popular among tourists. The village is a jungle of banana trees and tropical shrubs; there is a lake and a mountain river on the territory. Thanks to this, while riding you can enjoy the beauty of Thai nature.

The performances and excursions held here will not leave any tourist indifferent. Guests can watch a fascinating show in which elephants will draw, dance, spin a hula hoop and demonstrate other incredible things. After this, it is customary to treat the elephants with bananas, as if thanking them for the concert.

The Elephant Village in Pattaya is famous for the opportunity not only to see elephants, but also to ride them. To do this, a special seat for one or more people is attached to the elephant’s back. You can ride as part of a standard one-hour excursion, or choose a longer, comprehensive one. During the one-hour excursion, vacationers will be able to ride an elephant along vast territory villages, visit the famous silk factory, and at the end of the trip, treat yourself to traditional tea. The comprehensive tour lasts 3.5 hours. During this excursion, you have the opportunity not only to ride an elephant, but also to raft on a mountain river, ride in a buffalo sled, and then have lunch at local restaurant. You can order professional photography and video recording of what is happening from the village staff so that the impressions will last for a long time.

The village hosts another interesting event, known throughout Pattaya - swimming with elephants in the lake. While the tourist is sitting on the elephant's back, the giant begins to slowly enter the water. Having plunged into the lake, the elephant begins to play - he throws the man into the water, splashes, and pours water from his trunk. All this is observed by an experienced instructor, who, in fact, gives commands to the elephant. During this process, park staff may take fun photos of you, which can then be purchased for an additional fee.

Elephant show

Every day there is an elephant show - an interesting and funny performance in which elephants perform amazing performances for guests. Despite their heavy weight and seemingly clumsiness, elephants do things completely unusual for them - ride bicycles and cars, play football and basketball, accurately hitting the goal or basket, play musical instruments and even dance to the music. That is why guests of Thailand do not miss the opportunity to get to know these amazingly intelligent and quick-witted animals and see all these wonders with their own eyes.

Elephant riding with its originality and, to some extent, even extremeness attracts most vacationers, so in addition to the elephant village, this service is available in other places. You can ride elephants in Pattaya in several other parks, which are located within the city or a few kilometers away. If vacationers do not want to wander around the jungle on an elephant and then splash with it in the lake, then it is better to visit any of the parks below rather than go to the elephant village.

Nong Nooch Garden

The second famous place where you can ride elephants in Pattaya is the beautiful Nong Nooch Botanical Garden. Unlike the elephant village, there are no long excursions here; you can simply ride an elephant through the garden. The cost of the walk is 400 baht for a 15-minute ride. But the elephant show in this park is more exciting than in the elephant village and is even considered the best in all of Thailand. Elephants surprise guests with intricate tricks and performances, drive cars, dance, play bowling and darts, and even paint watercolor paintings, which you can then take for yourself for a symbolic price. Elephants are not only good artists, but also excellent massage therapists - interested viewers can experience an unusual massage for themselves. The guest lies down on the ground, and the elephant begins to massage his back with his foot, and the luckiest ones can even tickle him with his trunk. The show lasts an hour and is held several times a day - at 9:45, 10:45, 15:00 and 16:00. You can get to the park by taxi for about 300 baht.

For children, prices are two times lower, respectively 200 baht for 20 minutes. In addition to riding elephants, here you can go to the shooting range and ride in a carriage with horses.

Khao Chee Chan

Elephants can also surprise vacationers with their unusual skills in Khao Chee Chan Park, which is located a 30-minute drive from Pattaya. There is a luxurious area here, surrounded by mountains, greenery and flowers, so while visiting the park you can fully enjoy the beautiful nature of Pattaya. The elephant shelter is very easy to find - it is located directly opposite the huge golden rock image of Buddha.

You can ride from 8:00 to 17:00. For a 20-minute ride you will have to pay 400 baht for adults and 200 baht for children, for 30 minutes - 600 baht and 1000 baht for an hour. In addition to the elephant farm, you can visit several more interesting places- a tribe of long-necked women and temple complex Wat Yang, whose main shrine is the footprint of Buddha.

Dinosaur Adventure

Although this park is located in the city, it is not very popular, since there is little interesting here. In addition to elephant rides, in this park you can see dinosaur sculptures and go to the Magic Cave 3D magic show, which is most likely to be most interesting for children. The park is located opposite the Floating Market. The cost of an elephant ride is 600 baht for 30 minutes.

Thai Tong Elephant

This elephant park is suitable for those who do not want to waste time on the road, as this park is located in the city next to the Teprazit market in the Jomtien district. There are no shows here, you can just ride the elephants around the park, feed them and take pictures. You can also ride ATVs and buggies in the park - a small sports SUV. An elephant ride here lasts 30 minutes and costs 800 baht.

Elephant ride through the jungle

Elephant riding energizes you with positivity and leaves pleasant memories. It is during such a walk that vacationers will be able to fully immerse themselves in the atmosphere of Thailand, cutting through the jungle, sitting astride a sacred animal. Elephant riding in Pattaya is gaining momentum every day. Tourists are happy to visit elephant camps, because riding an elephant, and even more so seeing with your own eyes the incredible things that these good-natured giants are capable of, is worth a lot.

Those who want to get to know elephants better can choose any park that suits them best, depending on the program, distance from the city and prices. It is worth noting that all the elephants in the parks are calm and trained; local residents look after and care for them. You shouldn't be afraid of elephants, but you still need to follow basic safety rules.

Not far from Pattaya there is a unique attraction - Elephant Village. Several dozen of these wonderful animals live here. Arriving here, you can meet, feed, ride and even make friends with these good-natured giants, if you deserve it, of course.

This farm was organized in 1973 and exists solely due to cash receipts from tourists, thanks to whom the local animals are fed and treated. It is very popular, so there is enough money for the elephants to have a happy childhood and a calm old age among friends. And they are very sociable.

The Village is home to elderly animals who are on a well-deserved rest after a long working life. They don’t work here, but entertain tourists from all over the world and communicate with them. Friendly baby elephants live here and are very beloved by local visitors.

Perhaps the most interesting thing in the Elephant Village is the one-and-a-half-hour performance with the participation of these animals, which is held here twice a day. During this wonderful show, they show the audience real miracles of training: they dance, do acrobatics, paint pictures, shoot darts at targets, entertaining tourists in every possible way.

The bravest spectators can also take part in this performance. For example, you can take a massage course. To do this, you should lie with your back up, and the elephant will massage your back with its trunk and gently press with its front feet. Believe me, it's completely safe. At the end of the performance, all the artists are dressed in beautiful blankets, and they walk in a circle, bowing to the audience.

Excursions

Elephant riding brings tourists complete delight; it is an extraordinary and extremely popular entertainment. In order to sit on this giant, you first need to climb onto the high platform yourself, and the animal is brought to it, on whose back there is a beautiful chair.

This chair can accommodate a maximum of two people. Each elephant has its own driver, who leads his giant by the leash or sits on it together with a tourist, i.e. the second seat in the chair is intended specifically for him. The driver will act as a “driver” and at the same time monitor your safety.

The most interesting part of the walk is fording the river. At this time, the elephant may dive into the water to freshen up or shower you with splashes or a stream of water from its trunk. This way you can swim with this animal. We do not recommend wearing expensive clothes or taking a good smartphone with you for such a walk - they can be seriously damaged.

But if you are afraid of heights, i.e. If you suffer from acrophobia, then this entertainment is not for you. In addition, the elephant sways when walking, which can make you dizzy. Don’t torture yourself, it’s better to communicate with little elephants, you will feel as if you are communicating with a child. The kids are very affectionate and sociable, you will surely love them. Here they are allowed to feed and drink milk from a special funnel.

Where to buy souvenirs?

The farm has its own souvenir shop, where tourists always go after the show and elephant ride to buy some souvenir as a souvenir of the Village. What's not here? The most interesting thing is the paintings painted by tropical giants during the performance. Another unusual and wonderful souvenir is photo frames made from the feces of these animals.

The farm is located in the vicinity of Pattaya, but there is no public transport there. You can only get there by taxi. In this case, you should agree in advance with the taxi driver about the return trip to the city, so that when he arrives here, he does not inflate the price to exorbitant heights. A round trip taxi ride costs about 600 baht.

Of course, it is more convenient to go to the Village by paying for a tour. In this case, the organizers of this event will take you and other excursionists from the hotel to the farm and back. You don't have to worry about finding a taxi or negotiating the price of the trip with the taxi driver.

Elephant - sacred symbol of Thailand

The elephant bears her child for two long years. From birth until the age of 3-4 years, an elephant is considered a baby. Mother elephant feeds him milk. As soon as he is torn from his mother’s breast, he is raised by the mahout, on whom the elephant’s future life depends. Usually the young mahout and the baby elephant grow up together. The elephant is practically a member of the mahout's family. There is a saying that to be a mahout is to be married to an elephant, as a mahout spends only about 5 days with his family and the remaining 25-26 days with the elephant. An elephant works from 14 to 60 years of age, and only after 60 years of age does it retire. An adult elephant weighs about 4000 kg. He needs 300 kg of food every day. And the elephant sleeps only 4 hours a day, standing like a horse and snoring loudly around him. Elephants are famous for their intelligence and ingenuity, as the show at the elephant farm in Pattaya will demonstrate.
