Looking for information about transfers from Bangkok to Pattaya in Thailand? In this article, we will tell you how to get to Pattaya from Bangkok and from Bangkok airport on your own, how much the trip costs and how long it will take.

There are three ways to get to Pattaya - by bus, train or by ordering a taxi transfer. From Bangkok airport to Pattaya can not be reached by train, but can be reached by bus or taxi.

Let's take a closer look at each option below.

How to get from Bangkok to Pattaya by bus

Buses Bangkok - Pattaya run from two bus stations in the Thai capital: northern (Mo Chit) and eastern (Ekkamai). Buses leave every 25-40 minutes and reach Pattaya in 2-2.5 hours. The ticket costs about 125 baht.

It is more convenient to go from the eastern (Ekamai) bus station, since it is located near the metro station of the same name (Ekamai station), and buses from this station run more often than from the northern one.

Make sure you take the non-stop "express" (most buses to Pattaya are like this, but others make several stops along the way and take almost twice as long in total).

Map with the location of the bus and railway stations of Bangkok:

Minivan

Previously, Pattaya could be reached by minivan from the Victory Monument metro station, but recently the Thai authorities have kicked out all minivans from there. Now they depart from the official bus stations of Bangkok, and free shuttles have been launched from Victory Monument to these stations.

For example, Pattaya Van minivans run from Mo Chit bus station every 15-20 minutes, the ticket costs only 92 baht per trip.

By train

The train from Bangkok to Pattaya runs daily at 06:55 from Bangkok Hua Lampong Central Station. In this direction, only third-class tickets are sold (cars, like in our trains), the price is about 30 baht.

The train travels for more than three hours and arrives in Pattaya at 10:34, and then on condition that it is not late. We recommend considering this option only as a last resort.

You can check the train schedule on the official website railways Thailand.

Which way to choose

It all depends on your preferences and financial capabilities:

  • A minivan is the cheapest (from 92 baht), but it is the least comfortable option.
  • Buses are slightly more expensive, but they have more space and are more pleasant to ride. The best option if you don't want to pay for a taxi.
  • Transfer is the most convenient of all methods, and also relatively inexpensive.

Thai resort Pattaya considered one of the most popular destinations For tourist holiday among the inhabitants of Russia. To all disco lovers, nightlife with a touch of debauchery, as well as various other entertainments, you will enjoy your vacation in this exotic corner of Asia. But for those who travel to Thailand for the sake of beach holiday and swimming in the sea, you should choose another place to spend your vacation. Unfortunately, the Pattaya coast is not clean, so it is unlikely that you will be able to relax here with pleasure.

Our review will focus on how to get to Pattaya from Russia. Let's try together to find the shortest and most budgetary route that will take us to this resort town in Thailand.

If you decide to travel by plane, you should pay attention to two alternative routes that will allow you to be in Pattaya airport. First of all, you can take a direct flight, which, however, will include one or two transfers and will take a lot of time. Companies such as Aeroflot, nordwind airlines, Emirates, China Eastern and others. For example, Nordwind airlines is ready to take you to a resort in Thailand from the capital Sheremetyevo, from where its planes depart daily. A ticket will cost at least 36,500 rubles. At the same time, the journey will take approximately 35 hours and 45 minutes. In fact, almost 23 hours will be spent waiting for a transfer at Phuket Airport and Udon Thani. Therefore, such a route will give pleasure to few people.

It is possible to fly to the resort and much faster. In this regard, the domestic carrier Aeroflot can help, on whose plane you can fly to Pattaya in just 15 hours! In this case, you will also have to make two intermediate landings at the airports of Phuket and Bangkok, but this will not take much time. But the cost of such a flight can unpleasantly surprise even the wealthiest tourist. For a one-way ticket in an economy class cabin, you will need to pay a minimum of 79 thousand rubles.

There is also an alternative route, which can be conditionally divided into two parts. The first flight will take you to international Airport Bangkok, and then you can fly or drive directly to the resort town. The distance does not exceed 110 km, which can be easily overcome both on shuttle buses as well as by taxi.

The fastest flight is ready to provide Airlines, on aircraft which you can cover a considerable distance between Moscow and Bangkok in just 12 hours and 45 minutes. A ticket in this case will cost no more than 23.5 thousand rubles. Well, if you are willing to pay twice as much, then you will find yourself in Bangkok in 9.5 hours from the moment of departure.

You can get from Bangkok to Pattaya both by air and by any ground transport. Domestic carriers are responsible for air communication between cities. For example, on an airplane Air company Asia, you can get to the resort town in just 4.5-5 hours, and the cost of services will be from 3800 to 4700 rubles. But it will not be possible to significantly reduce the travel time. The fastest is the Bangkok Airways flight, the ticket price for which is 15,300 rubles. But for this money you can get there faster by 1-1.5 hours.

You can also get to Pattaya from Bangkok Airport by bus or taxi. As soon as you leave the terminal building, you will immediately be surrounded by dozens of local taxi drivers who will gladly agree to take you to the most famous resort. The cost of private cab services starts from 1100-1200 baht. But the trip time will be no more than 2-2.5 hours, which allows us to confidently call this way of traveling the fastest. But the bus ride is much cheaper. You can even find scheduled bus, a trip on which will cost no more than 200-300 baht. But on the road you have to spend an hour or two longer, since the bus stops at almost every stop. Buses depart from a special platform for scheduled route facilities, which is located near the exit from the airport hall.

Budget bus number 389 makes regular trips from Bangkok Airport to Pattaya and back. The fare is only 134 baht. The bus departs every hour from 7 am to 9 pm.

If you want to save a lot of money, then the trip to Pattaya should be moved to the night. With the onset of night, the fare for a taxi decreases, almost by half. The situation is similar with night buses.

If you wish, if you have enough money, you can also order a transfer from Bangkok airport to one of the hotels in Pattaya. But this service will be very expensive, so far from everyone can afford such a pleasure.

Now you know how to get to Pattaya, which route will be the shortest and how you can save on the road.

To the main resorts of Thailand. Unfortunately for tourists, there is no international airport in Pattaya itself. The nearest airport is U-Tapao, 40 km from this resort. However, it operates only domestic and charter flights. So UTair Aviation carries out charters from Omsk, Novosibirsk, Rostov-on-Don.

There is another way to get to Pattaya - a flight to Bangkok with a further transfer by taxi or bus. Flight times from major Russian cities vary greatly. On average, a direct flight from the western cities of Russia to Bangkok takes 8-9 hours. Residents of the Far East region can fly to the capital of Thailand in 7-8 hours. Sometimes flights are delayed, which is reported at the airport by the relevant services. During the flight, passengers are offered food 2 times and constantly - soft drinks. The shortest flights are carried out only on direct flights, which are much more expensive than connecting flights. Many tourists, in order to save money, choose a longer, but less expensive way. Such connecting flights are carried out with a change in China, Tashkent or other cities. To the way direct flight, in this case, the time of transfer and waiting at the airport (4-6 hours) is also added.

Below are the average data on connecting flights operated from different cities of the Russian Federation:

Tickets always indicate the time of departure and arrival at the destination, indicating the local time.

The ticket price is 30-40 thousand rubles. (depending on the season).

The time of a direct flight from Moscow to the capital of Thailand is about 9 hours (the flight time varies slightly for different airlines). Also, the duration of the flight depends on weather conditions, wind direction. At connecting flight flight time is increased to 12 hours. Most budget travelers prefer not to use the domestic flight to U-Tapao Airport, since it still takes about an hour to get to the resort by bus.

How to get from Bangkok to Pattaya

Upon arrival at Suvarnabhumi International Airport, the tourist can choose two travel options to Pattaya:

  • by bus;
  • by taxi;
  • by train.

A bus ticket can be purchased on the 1st floor (level 1) of the airport at the exit to the street. The final stop at such a bus is Jomtien. It passes through the whole of Pattaya. There are several flights per day. The ticket price is about 130 baht. You can also buy tickets at the bus terminal, located 10 minutes. from the airport. It can be reached by a free shuttle.

There are other transport companies that provide transportation services for tourists from Bangkok to Pattaya. It is better to book tickets for them in advance, because if a tourist is late for the specified flight, he can safely go on the next one. Buses of such companies take tourists to the hotel. The ticket price will be 200 baht. The duration of the trip is 2 hours.

Pattaya can also be reached from its 2 bus stations or from the Victory Monument metro station. Buses and minivans depart from them. A taxi to Pattaya will cost 1000 or more baht (the price depends on the place where you took it and the type of transport). If a taxi is ordered in the arrivals area (2nd floor), the price may be 25,000 baht. At the airport itself, you can bargain for 1000-1200 baht. Taxi drivers must have a meter or the price must be negotiated in advance.

There are 3rd class trains from Hua Lamphong Railway Station. Travel time 3.5 hours. Ticket price - 80 baht. Trains to Pattaya run much less often than buses. At the same time, they are less comfortable so that it is better to give preference to road transport.

How to get to Pattaya from Phuket

Phuket and Pattaya are separated by about 1000 km. There are three most popular ways to travel:

  • by plane;
  • by bus or car.

Travel by plane will not be so short. In this case, the tourist will have to spend a fairly large amount of money. From Phuket, the plane flies to Bangkok for about 1 hour, and from there it will take another 2 hours by bus or taxi to Pattaya.

Tourists who arrived in Bangkok on a tour package may not think about transfer to Pattaya, they will be met near Suvarnabhumi Airport and taken to desired hotel. But for those who travel on their own, it is worth exploring the options for moving around the country in advance. Transport connection between major cities Thailand is well developed, and the distance from Bangkok to Pattaya is only 160 km. So get to popular resort won't be difficult. You can take a bus, minivan, train or taxi. Each of these modes of transportation differs in terms of driving time, prices and comfort.

Buses run daily strictly with a schedule from two bus stations in Bangkok - Mo Chit and Ekkamai. The bus schedule is customized for tourists. They run from Ekkamai Bus Station during the day from 5:00 am to 10:00 pm. From Mo Chit Bus Station there are flights to Pattaya from 5:00 to 19:00. Buses run every half hour to an hour. The cost of such a trip is approximately 100 baht. The journey will take 2 hours. In Pattaya, buses arrive at North Pattaya Street.

Tickets can be purchased at the box office located in the station building on the ground floor, or on the website. On the ticket bought in advance, you will see the number of the parking point from which your bus will depart.

On a note! All cashiers at bus stations report the number of seats sold to each bus driver. Therefore, if you are late for a while, the bus will be waiting for you. But do not abuse the situation, the maximum delay is 15 minutes, then the bus will leave without you and the ticket cannot be returned.

Traveling by bus has many advantages, including:

  • one of the cheapest tickets
  • all buses are equipped with air conditioning;
  • large luggage compartments;
  • all drivers are officially employed and are responsible for passengers. Therefore, this option is the safest.

But there are also disadvantages in their schedule - long breaks for rest and snacks (often delayed for 1 hour or more) and buses leave no more than once every half an hour.

Minivan

Minivans depart from Bangkok once every half an hour, the movement time is from 6 am to 9 pm. Travel time to the resort will be about 2-3 hours, depending on traffic jams in the capital and on the highway. Tourists are attracted to this transport option by the fact that there is no rigid schedule, many departure stations in Bangkok and an inexpensive trip price.

Significant disadvantages of this method of transportation to the resort are:

  • Many Thai drivers do not know how to drive according to the rules, they exceed the speed limit. As a result, accidents happen from time to time.
  • The minivan departure time ends early.
  • The salon is designed for 14 passengers, but cunning drivers can take 16 people each, putting them on folding rear seats.
  • Very often, the salon is filled with various boxes, bags, which the minivan driver delivers on the way to the right points.

In Bangkok, most minivans can be found in their large parking lots. They are located at Mo Chit Bus Station, Victory Monument and Ekkamai Bus Station. The price of a minivan trip is 300 baht. Minivans stop in Pattaya next to the Big C supermarket, on the corner of Sukhumvit and at the bus stop South Pattaya is the end point. You can buy a minivan ticket to Pattaya on the website.

Train

This is the most unpopular option for tourists who need to get to their resort. Train schedules are not at all adjusted to the guests of the country. The route will take a long time, about 4 hours.

The train in this direction leaves at 6:50 from the Bangkok railway station, called Hua Lamphong. In Pattaya, he arrives at about 11 am to the East Train Station. The cost of a train ride is 80 baht. Of the advantages of such a trip, one can name exotic and cheapness, the ticket price is the lowest among other types of transport.

This option of moving around the country can only be suitable for those tourists who are not in a hurry or want to enjoy the view from the train window. The morning road will delight any guest of the country with its exoticism - palm trees, mountains, unusual bright landscapes and the bright sun will accompany you throughout the trip.

There are no sleeping places in the train cars, only seated ones. But inside the wagons, a good finish has been made and comfortable places for passengers.

How to get from Suvarnabhumi Airport?

You can get to Pattaya from Suvarnabhumi Airport by bus or taxi.

Bus

Bus service is provided by two transport companies: Airportpattayabus and Belltravelservice. The first of them is located at the eighth exit of the terminal, in the building itself. Departure time: every hour from 7 am to 8 pm. The company will take you to the Jomtien area. The ticket price is about 120 baht. The journey will take about 2 hours.

The second carrier company sells the ticket much more expensive and makes 6 trips a day. Buses run daily from 8 am to 6 pm. The advantages of these flights are that tourists in Pattaya are transported to hotels. In this regard, the price rises - 240 baht, which is 2 times higher compared to the first company.

Taxi

Taxis can be taken on the 2nd floor of the airport at special desks in the arrivals hall. If you know how to bargain and can gather a couple more people in your company, then you can significantly reduce the price. Many taxi drivers stand at the exit of the airport on the street, you can catch a car and negotiate. You can also pre-order a taxi from the airport on the website kiwitaxi.ru. In this case, you will be met at the airport at the appointed time and taken to your hotel in Pattaya. Travel time will be approximately 2 hours. The cost of the trip is about 1500 baht.

How to get from Don Muang Airport

In addition to taxi drivers who are waiting for tourists right on the street near the exit from the airport, there are no other options to get to Pattaya directly. The most convenient way is with a transfer in Bangkok. To do this, you need to follow a few simple steps:

  1. Look for exit number 6 from the airport, where the bus stops are located. Among all the routes, you should find the bus number - A1.
  2. To get to Bangkok, you should go to the stop of the northern bus station Mo Chit. Many of the drivers do not stop at this stop and go a little further to the metro station of the same name. But you can ask the conductor to drop you off at the right place. Just walk up to him and say "Please, bus station Mo Chit". The cost of such a trip is 60 baht.
  3. Once at this stop, you can go to Pattaya on the next bus. From the northern station, they run daily from 5 am to 7 pm. Travel time is about 2 hours. The ticket price is about 100 baht.

You can pre-purchase a bus ticket to Pattaya, which departs from the Mo Chit bus station on the website. In this case, you will not have to queue for a ticket and will not worry about the fact that you may not have enough space.

You can also on free bus to get from Don Muang airport to . But the journey will take approximately 40 minutes. And then in Suvarnabhumi airport buy a bus ticket to Pattaya. This method is less convenient, as it takes much more time.

And if you do not want to waste time on transplants and prefer maximum comfort, then you can order a taxi on the site, but the price in this case increases by about 10 times.

The fastest way to travel from Bangkok to Pattaya is by taxi. Many lovers of nature and Thailand itself specially go by train to see panoramic view landscapes, opening for 4 hours from the windows of the train.

Not wanting to depend on tour operators, many people plan to travel to Pattaya on their own. In this post, we want to give some tips on what you should pay attention to first of all when planning such a trip, as well as tell you in detail about everything that will make your trip as rich and interesting as possible.

Buying tickets and travel insurance

Any independent trip begins with the purchase of tickets and travel insurance. There is not much to write about here. I think that everyone has long known that it is best to look for cheap flights through the aviasales service, and for inexpensive insurance on - there you can choose the right insurance option for yourself that takes into account all your criteria for the upcoming vacation.

The only thing to do before buying air tickets is to search for last minute tours to Pattaya. Sometimes even in independent travel it can be more profitable to fly on a package tour (the cost of a last-minute ticket to Pattaya may be lower than the cost of tickets to Bangkok). This happens quite often. In addition, if you are flying for a long time and have not yet decided on a place to live, then you will have at least a week to find accommodation. This will also save you a pretty decent amount of money.

And don't forget that visa-free regime upon arrival in Thailand - for Russian citizens is issued for 30 days.

Transfer from Bangkok to Pattaya

We have already written about how to get to Pattaya on our own, but I will repeat it again.

Upon arrival at Bangkok International Airport, Suvarnabhumi, the first thing you need to do is go through passport control. In order not to waste time on its passage, fill out the immigration form in advance, which will be given to you on the plane.

After passport control, proceed further to collect your luggage and then take the escalator down one floor. There, at exit number 8, there is a bus ticket counter to Pattaya (the bus leaves every hour from 7 am to 21 pm).

Please note that dogs are not allowed on the Thai bus! If your pet is not in a special cage, you will have to take a taxi.

If you booked a hotel in Pattaya in advance, you can buy a ticket for 250 baht with delivery to the door of your hotel. If you have not yet decided on housing or plan to travel on foot, then buy a ticket for 134 baht. In this case, you will have four options where you can get off in Pattaya:

  1. At the turnoff from Sukhumvit to North Street;
  2. At the corner from Sukhumvit to Central Street;
  3. At the turnoff from Sukhumvit to South Street;
  4. In Jomtien, next to the Food Mart (beginning of Teprazit Street).

You can also take a taxi from Bangkok to Pattaya. The average cost of a trip is 1200 - 1500 baht. It is better to book a car in advance (there are many groups on VKontakte for ordering a taxi in Bangkok). At the exit from the airport you will be met with a sign.

What area to live in?

Before planning an independent trip to Pattaya, you should decide on the area for living.

If you are planning a quiet family vacation in Pattaya, then Jomtien, Pratamnak and Naklua are more suitable areas for you. If you want to be in the very epicenter of Pattaya nightlife, then choose Central or Southern District(closer to Volkin Street).

Here is a small list of the advantages and disadvantages of each of the districts:

  • Jomtien. Quiet, calm area. There are many inexpensive hotels, guesthouses and condominiums. Many markets, shops, various cafes, bars and restaurants. big beach. There is public transport.
  • Pratumnak. The cleanest and quietest Pattaya area. Good infrastructure and beaches. But expensive housing. No public transport.
  • South Pattaya. Few good hotels, no beach, noisy, dirty, no public transport, few cafes and restaurants, far from the sea. The most popular hotels are in the immediate vicinity of Walking Street, such as the Camelot Hotel.
  • Central Pattaya. The noisiest area in Pattaya. Crowds of tourists, many shops, shopping centers, markets, bars, massage parlors, clubs, restaurants, etc. There are practically no cheap cafes. If you are going to Pattaya just to have a good “bulge out”, then settle somewhere in the central area.
  • Naklua. Quiet area, many Thai cheap cafes, there is a good beach, but it's a long walk to get to it. Almost all hotels located by the sea are very expensive.

In our opinion, if you are going to Pattaya for the first time, then it is better to settle in Jomtien or Pratamnak. Then you can decide for yourself where you like best.

We did a detailed comparison of the Jomtien and Naklua districts in the post "Where is it better to live in Pattaya".

Booking a hotel and looking for accommodation

Booking hotels in Pattaya is easy. To find a suitable option, use the roomguru.ru service or the hotel search form below:

At independent trip in Pattaya, it is better to book a hotel or guesthouse in advance, at least for a few days. So you will immediately have where to check in after arrival, and at passport control they may ask for the address of your residence in Pattaya.

If you are going to stay in Pattaya for no more than a month, then finding inexpensive housing in a condominium will be quite problematic, especially during the period from November to March. At this time, it is worth focusing on the amount of 18,000 - 25,000 baht per studio. Few people want to rent out their homes for a short period. So there are guesthouses and hotels. In a good guesthouse with a pool and air conditioning, a room can be rented from 500 baht per day, but if you wish, you can find it cheaper.

What to see in Pattaya on your own

There are many in Pattaya interesting places, attractions and entertainment that you can visit on your own. From what we have already described in our blog, these are:

To visit some of the places listed, you will need a bike or taxi, while others can be easily reached either on foot or by tuk-tuk.

We also advise you to go to one of the saunas, which are quite a lot in Pattaya. For example, Jomtien has a good Mari-Jari sauna - an ideal place for have a nice rest and recuperation.

Self-guided tours from Pattaya

We can recommend several independent excursions from Pattaya, which you will surely remember for a long time, and perhaps even block the impressions of your holiday in Pattaya. It is better to start planning them in advance, since careful preparation is a significant guarantee of the success of any undertaking.

  • On your own from Pattaya to Cambodia - we strongly advise you to go to Siem Reap and look at the lost city of Angkor Wat. The spectacle is very impressive. We wrote about all the intricacies of organizing such a trip in the corresponding post;
  • Independently from Pattaya to Laos. A trip to the city of Vang Vieng will definitely be remembered for a long time. From Pattaya, you can easily get there by bus, and it will cost quite inexpensively. For those who are already fed up with the standard excursion program and are ready to make an amusing trip for a fun river rafting trip, a trip to Laos would be the perfect option.
  • Independently from Pattaya to Bangkok. From Pattaya to Bangkok to go about two hours. Travel - 97 baht. Explore the sights of the capital of Thailand on the Internet and hit the road!
  • Khao Kheo Zoo. Many tourists note that this zoo is best visited on your own. As part of the tour, you will have too little time to fully get to know the huge variety of zoo inhabitants. And we also think so. This is one of those attractions that is worth devoting a whole day to.

On your own from Pattaya to the islands

I won’t talk about the island of Koh Lan, which is located near Pattaya, everyone already knows about it. But your acquaintance with the Thai islands, you can start with him.

Over the past year, we independently visited four islands from Pattaya: Koh Chang, Koh Sichang, Samet and Koh Samui. We talked about each of these trips in detail in the corresponding posts.

If you choose from these three islands, then probably the most the best option for a trip from Pattaya will be the island of Koh Samet. It takes about three hours to get to it, and the beaches and nature there are simply amazing.

I hope that the information presented in this post will be useful for you and will help you organize your independent trip to Pattaya faster and better. For any clarifying questions, we will be happy to answer in the comments.
