History of Russia during the years of the Revolution and Civil War full of amazing, sometimes incredible turns of human destinies. The clearest example in this regard can be considered the life path of the outstanding Russian military leader General Slashchev, who was called by the White Guards the “Savior of Crimea”, and then radically changed his views...

“Underpants - vacuumed and x-rayed!” Do you think these are notes from a madman? But no. Such phrases can be heard in the studio where they sew clothes for... astronauts. You have to vacuum it so that dust does not clog air filters space station, and x-rays will reveal foreign objects in clothing. For example, once tailors left a pin in the fabric, which could have seriously injured the astronaut.

The recent suicide of Irina, the wife of Alexander Porokhovshchikov, and the death of the famous actor that soon followed became an inexhaustible topic for the press and television. What is behind this double tragedy: selfless love, a coincidence of circumstances, or some forces beyond human understanding?

In 1980, some Argentine newspapers published sensational news that Adolf Hitler did not commit suicide, but remained alive. In 1953, he met with his personal pilot Hans Baur, released from Soviet captivity, and he gave him a message from the Minister of Internal Affairs Lavrentiy Beria. In it, the all-powerful head of the Soviet intelligence services informed the former Fuhrer of the Third Reich about plans to recreate a united Germany and offered, through the Black International, which has great weight in many countries of Western Europe, to provide him with political support.

Aimee Mullins was born in 1976 in Allentown (Pennsylvania, USA) and became famous, despite her limited physical abilities, as an athlete, actress, model and master of public speaking. This woman was born with a congenital defect of both fibulas, so doctors were forced to amputate her legs below the knees a year after birth. Since then, Mullins has been using special prosthetics.

The year 1949 was remarkable in many ways. In the USSR, preparations were underway for the 70th anniversary of Stalin, they were waiting good news from the Chinese communists. It would seem that nothing could spoil a year that was so happy in many respects.

The German command was very fond of giving their secret objects intricate and somewhat romantic names. It’s enough to remember what the Fuhrer’s headquarters were called - “Wolf’s Lair”, “Eagle’s Nest”, “Bear’s Den”... So they called the fortification structure on the border of what was then Poland “Earthworm Camp”...

Some passages of the Bible are confirmed by historical documents and archaeological finds. But there are texts of Holy Scripture about which doubts arise: are they not simply beautiful legends? Only scientific research can answer this question. Sometimes, in order to answer it, you need to reconstruct the era and the events accompanying it bit by bit. Such mysterious texts include the story of Joseph and his brothers.

Elixirs of immortality, living water, recipes for eternal youth - this is a favorite topic of myths, legends, historical and archaeological investigations, and scientific works. We decided to look into the topic and find out what humanity ultimately managed to do on the path to immortality.

Where and how did they look for immortality?

Xu Fu's expedition in search of the elixir of immortality

The elixir of youth and immortality is mentioned in the legends and traditions of many peoples of the world as the food of the gods. Gods Ancient Greece ate ambrosia, the gods of Ancient India - amrita, the Iranian gods - haoma, gods Ancient Egypt drank the water of immortality. One of the tales of the Epic of Gilgamesh, the oldest work of literature of the Ancient East, created almost 5,000 ago, is dedicated to the search for immortality. Alchemists different countries they tried to recreate the recipes of the miraculous drinks described in the most ancient books by order of the rulers.

Chinese emperors were especially obsessed with searching for recipes for immortality. Thus, the Emperor of China Qin Shi Huangdi was pathologically afraid of dying and desperately wanted to find the elixir of immortality, which, according to Chinese mythology, would ensure eternal life for three sacred mountains in the middle of the sea. During his reign, he equipped two expeditions for the magic drink: in 219 and 210 BC. e. For the first time, he directed people towards the sacred island mountains, where, according to legend, the immortals lived. There was no news of that campaign. Therefore, Qin organized a second expedition, which included four magicians, including the court fortuneteller at the court of Xu Fu. Upon his return, Fu informed the emperor about the unsuccessful search and the giant fish that prevented him from reaching the magical island of Penglai. He also showed a magical text that reported the fall of the Qin Dynasty due to the invasion of barbarians. It is described that Xu Fu's fleet consisted of 60 ships with a crew of 5,000 sailors, on the ships were 3,000 girls and boys and artisans with different skills. The third time, Xu Fu also took archers on a trip to exterminate the fish, but never returned: researchers suggest that he settled in Japan, mistaking the Japanese Mount Fuji for the mythical Mount Penglai. Soon, the 39-year-old emperor took custom-made immortality elixir pills and died because they contained mercury. He was buried in a huge mausoleum built in advance: it was erected by 700,000 workers and artisans, the perimeter of the outer burial wall was 6 km.

The subsequent Emperor Wudi also engaged in similar searches: he paid magicians and spellcasters, and executed those whom he accused of charlatanism. Another Chinese emperor, Xuanzong, who ruled in the 19th century, also died from the elixir of immortality. It is known that the elixir was prepared by Taoist monks in a special way - they boiled it for a year. The 49-year-old emperor drank the drink for a month and, ironically, did not rejuvenate, but died.

What were the elixirs made from?

Found VCG Elixir Jars

Finding out the recipe for Chinese living water is a task within the power of scientists. At the beginning of March this year, Chinese archaeologists discovered 3.5 liters of the ancient elixir of immortality. The discovery was made in Henan province in the city of Luoyang during the excavation of a tomb with an area of 210 m², dating from the period of the Western Han Empire (202 BC - 8 AD). Archaeologists recovered an ancient jug and, upon opening, noted the smell of alcohol. Laboratory analysis of the liquid showed that the contents were a mixture of potassium nitrate and alunite (alum stone). According to scientists, this corresponds to the recipe for the elixir of immortality, which is known from Taoist texts.

"This is the first time that mythical immortality medicines have been found in China," said Shi Jiaren, head of the Institute of Cultural Relics and Archeology in Luoyang.

Other ancient civilizations had different recipes from the Chinese. For example, people replaced ambrosia, an ancient Greek divine drink, with olive oil and fat. Another elixir of immortality in ancient times was lammer-vine - a concentrate of unknown composition in which amber was dissolved.

European alchemists believed that the composition must contain an eternal substance - for example, gold. One of the recipes for the elixir of immortality belongs to the personal physician of Pope Boniface XIII: he suggested mixing crushed gold, pearls, sapphires, emeralds, topazes, white and red corals, ivory, sandalwood, deer heart, aloe root, musk and amber.

The most common elements of elixirs are gold, jade, mercury, arsenic, as well as many other substances that have toxic properties. It is not surprising that the consumption of such liquids often led to poisoning and death.

Extending life scientifically

Japanese Ashitaba plant

Nowadays, the search for the elixir of immortality continues: gerontological scientists are looking for ways to prolong a person’s youth and life, research and experiments are being conducted. Thus, in the USA, near San Francisco, the Ambrosia center opened, where elderly patients are transfused with blood from young donors. In the first stage of the large-scale study, about 600 people volunteered to participate and agreed to pay $8,000 for the opportunity to rejuvenate: within two days they were transfused with plasma from donors under 25 years of age. In total, subjects receive about 1.5 liters of young plasma.

The very idea of blood transfusion for rejuvenation is not new - it was expressed by Robert Boyle in the 17th century - but it has only now come to fruition. The test was first carried out on mice. In 2012, Dr. Robin Franklin from the University of Cambridge proved that the blood of young mice benefits older ones: their memory, learning ability and other indicators improved. Conversely, transfusion of old blood to young individuals worsened the condition of the latter.

The experiment on older Americans is being conducted by 32-year-old Dr. Jesse Karmazin, and he is already reporting positive results for patients: the level of proteins responsible for the development of cancer and Alzheimer's disease has dropped by 20%, sleep, mood, cognitive abilities, muscle tone and even improved. appearance. To be fair, it is worth noting that the scientific community looks askance at these experiments and advises all volunteers to refuse to conduct experiments.

Another modern elixir of youth was discovered by Australian scientists: they gave the Japanese Ashitaba plant to animals and noticed that with its regular use, the life of the animals increased by 20%. According to researchers, aging of the body occurs from an excess of food, which leads to the accumulation of various mutations in the cells of the body. Ashitaba produces a substance that causes the body's cells to process "biological waste." It is this feature of the plant that prolongs the body’s youth and, as a result, life.

The recipe for longevity from Australian scientists looks like this: moderate fasting (lack of food activates and accelerates the process of destroying incorrectly folded proteins and damaged mitochondria), a balanced diet combined with a small intake of Ashitaba extract and moderate physical activity - in movement the body gets rid of heavy metals and other toxic substances formations.

Considering the history of mythology and religions, it opens incredible fact about gods who appear to be immortal beings, or at least who lived for many thousands of years. In ancient religious texts that mention the immortality or longevity of the gods, this is associated with a certain type of food that only the gods are allowed to eat - the elixir of life.

The gods had to regularly take mysterious foods to maintain immortality, strength and longevity. Many myths refer to the fact that if mortals ate the food of the gods, they themselves became immortal like the gods. However, having tasted the “elixir of life” secretly, it was possible

One of the main references to the food of immortals is found in Greek mythology. The stories of the Greek gods say that ambrosia and nectar were the food and drink of immortality, and this first appears in Greek mythology dating back to the birth of Zeus.

Before the "invention" or "discovery" of ambrosia and nectar, it was said that the gods would feed by "sniffing" their dead enemies, as if their food was the energy of dead souls.

NECTAR AND AMBROSIA – FOOD OF THE IMMORTALS.

In one version of mythology, Ambrosia (the giver of youth and immortality) came from a magical goat named Amalthea, who suckled Zeus when the baby was hidden from his father Kronos. But the story of Amalthea, the “gentle goddess,” is complemented by an artifact in the form of a bull’s horn.

Yes, that same biblical “cornucopia” that provided a limitless supply of ambrosia, and contributed to the production of any kind of food for any living creature.

“White holy doves carried ambrosia, and a great eagle with shining wings flew with incredible speed across the sky, where he collected nectar and brought it to the baby Zeus.”

When the demigod Achilles was born, the mother rubbed the child with ambrosia, and he became practically immortal. However, practically does not mean absolutely, the mother, rubbing Achilles, held him by the heel, the only remaining mortal part of the body, causing problems for the heroic demigod in the future

It was said that ambrosia was used by the gods to cure all diseases, heal scars and wounds from numerous battles and make their body beautiful again. Apparently, if mortals were treated with ambrosia, their bodies would remain in perfect condition forever. In other texts we see that ambrosia was abundant in the gardens of the Hesperides.

The Hesperides were inhabited by nymphs who had a passion for the blessed garden in the far corner of the world, the place where ambrosia was brought to the god Zeus.

But immortal food also appears in the Bible, where we can see similarities between the gardens of the Hesperides and the Gardens of Eden. According to the Old Testament, man was forbidden to eat fruit from the Tree of Life:

“...from the earth the Lord God created every tree that was pleasant to the eye and good for food. The tree of life was in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil..."

When Adam and Eve plucked the fruit of the Forbidden Tree of Knowledge, it seems that God warned the other Gods to be on their guard because man should not eat the fruit of the Tree of Life and become immortal like them.

It is difficult for us today to understand whether God was angry or not, but he said: “Behold, man has become like one of us, knowing good and evil. It is impossible for him to reach out and pluck the fruit of the tree of life, eat and live forever ... "

SOMA - ELIXIR OF LIFE.

Moving on to Zoroastrian and Vedic mythologies, here too we find mention of a unique drink for the gods, known as Soma and Haoma. The special drink of the immortals was prepared by extracting the juices from the stems of certain plants that are unknown to us today.

But there is no doubt, Soma and Haoma gave immortality. Hydra, the leader of the Devas and the God of Agni, is mentioned in the Rig Veda as consuming large quantities of the immortal drink.

If we turn to Egyptian mythology and the legends of Thoth and Hermes Trismegistus, we see how the gods drink mysterious “white drops”, also called “liquid gold”. The recipe for the drink is unknown, but it gave immortality and youth.

Sumerian texts mention Ninhursag's milk, referring to one of the seven great deities of Sumer, a fertility goddess who is associated with the cow (similar to the magical goat Amalthea of Greek mythology).

The gods and kings of ancient Sumer drank “magic milk” to become strong and immortal. In the Epic of Gilgamesh, we learn about a plant that served as an “elixir” of immortality. But this recipe for youth and longevity was preserved as greatest secret gods.

In the Hindu religion, the gods took Amrita milk, the divine drink collected and drunk by the gods gave them immortality and long youth.

The unknown “milk” was apparently in the sky, as the gods collected nectar with the help of a serpent. It is clear that people were forbidden to drink the precious drink.

In Chinese mythology, "Peaches of Immortality" are known as the food of immortals. Eating peaches ensured eternal existence. At the same time, if people eat this fruit, they will also become immortal.

IN SEARCH OF THE ELIXIR OF LIFE.

The search for the elixir of Life has been the greatest undertaking for many people. In medieval times, alchemists sought philosopher's Stone, believed to be necessary for the creation of the elixir, as well as for the transformation of lead into gold. However, nothing is known about the discovery of the mysterious artifact.

Bernard Trevisan, a 15th century alchemist, says that by placing the philosopher's stone in mercury water, a delicious product can be created - the elixir of immortality.

But all that we have to confirm the theory of the alchemists who allegedly found the elixir of life is Cagliostro’s sad hoax.

Nectar and Ambrosia, the Tree of Life, Amrita, Peaches of Immortality, Soma and Haoma - are all these mentioned simply the imagination of ancient ancestors? Or is there an element of truth in this that is possible?

Could it be that immortality or longevity can actually be acquired through the consumption of “special” food, which has always been considered a privilege reserved for the chosen ones of Olympus?

Nevertheless, the search for the "Elixir of Life" is a fascinating undertaking, and perhaps one day it may be found for mortal men. And yet, if the gods used “tinctures” of immortality and it worked for mortals then... were they gods?

Since ancient times, people's dream has been to be immortal or regain youth. Legends and traditions of countries mention the elixir of immortality. Wherever magicians, scientists, kings and commoners looked for a miraculous drug. But who was able to unravel the formula for immortal life, and whether they could do it at all, is still a mystery.

How they searched for the elixir of immortality

Man has always regretted that he had lived too little, so he was looking for a remedy that would prolong life or delay old age.

Indian legends tell about the sap of a tree, after drinking which you can live 10,000 years. Unfortunately, the location of the tree remains a mystery.

The records of the ancient Greeks tell of magical fruits from the tree that restore youth, but do not give immortality.

Russian epics glorify “living water” from a spring on the island of Buyan. Where this island is located is also unknown, as is the tree with magical fruits.

They were looking for the elixir of immortality in the New Lands, discovered by Columbus. They even described a rejuvenating source that turns old people into young people.

Nowadays, everyone who wants to rejuvenate hears the word “antioxidant.” More and more cosmetic products containing this component are appearing on the market.

Antioxidants, or oxidizing agents, preservatives, are chemical substances that neutralize oxidative effects.

The aging of the body is due to the fact that free radicals, i.e. atoms with unpaired electrons, damage cells. Radicals disrupt white bonds, damage molecules of fats, nucleic acids, and other biomolecules, which disrupts the functioning of our body.

Cells of organs and tissues are oxidized. An improperly functioning organism wears out, ages and dies.

Measures to combat free radicals:

  • following a low-calorie diet and eating foods rich in antioxidants;
  • establishing proper metabolism;
  • work on breathing rate: full inhalation and extended exhalation, since breathing is directly related to metabolic processes;
  • normalize the production of melatonin, which is produced by the pineal gland of the brain.

The pineal gland is the pineal gland of the brain, a small gland that is responsible for puberty, sleep and wakefulness. This is why disruption of sleep patterns leads to a malfunction of the pineal gland and a decrease in the production of the antioxidant melatonin.

Just like the abuse of fatty, fried, flour, sweet, salty foods and animal products. With the help of inverted yoga poses, the work of the pineal gland is restored.

The body produces its own antioxidant substances, which are sometimes not enough. Therefore, they compensate for the deficiency by including fresh vegetables and fruits in the diet, which contain a high percentage of antioxidants.

Fresh fruits contain a lot of vitamins C and E, provitamin A. Tomatoes contain lycopene, other vegetables are rich in avalanche and flavonoids. Red berries are rich in anthocyanins.

The highest content of antioxidants is in walnuts, followed by cinnamon and third by vanilla. Next, in order: curry, white pepper, mustard and paprika, red pepper and raw hazelnuts.

Each nation has found its own recipes for miraculous elixirs. Honey is of great importance in preserving youth. The addition of nutmeg, ginger, cinnamon, cardamom, cloves and saffron supports mental clarity.

Scientific approach

Many scientists around the world are developing ways to prolong youth, and their successes are impressive. In Russia, people use 10 rejuvenating systems, and 30 techniques are also available:

  • supramolecular chemistry;
  • electromagnetic transformation technology or changing the human genome;
  • cell therapy;
  • revitalization and more.

If the results of the scientists’ work are positive, people will live to be 140 or 160 years old, provided they lead a healthy lifestyle.
