In chapter Policy to the question are there ticks in Abkhazia? and is the ANTI-TICK insurance from ASKO valid there? given by the author Milena the best answer is Actually, tick season has passed, but just in case, you can get vaccinated. Inexpensive and safe.

Answer from 2 answers[guru]

Hello! Here is a selection of topics with answers to your question: are there ticks in Abkhazia? and is the ANTI-TICK insurance from ASKO valid there?

Answer from Alkion alef[guru]
The overall security situation in the country is very ambiguous, although no more complicated than in any of the southern regions of Russia. On the one hand, the friendliness of local residents and certain efforts of the authorities have largely normalized the once very criminal situation in Abkhazia.
In this regard, the rule that is quite common for the entire Caucasus applies - if a tourist has a friend, guarantor or respected person from the locals, he should not expect any special problems. The country is small, everyone knows each other. The truth depends a lot on the guest himself, since Abkhazian traditions are still somewhat different from those familiar to us.
The sun is very strong in Abkhazia. You can get sunburned even “out of season” without sunbathing on the beach. It is highly recommended to use sunscreen at any time of the year.
In nature, ticks and snakes can be dangerous.

Answer from Inna Bilalova[active]
Igor, are you kidding? Tomorrow we are going to Rizza, and then walk 5 km to some lake. I'm worried about ticks

What are the features of the Abkhaz resort of Pitsunda? To what categories of tourists can it be safely recommended? What nuances of infrastructure and leisure organization are best to warn travelers about in advance? A specialist in Abkhazia from a tour operator tells.

City and surroundings

Pitsunda is located on a cape that juts out at a sharp angle into the Black Sea, approximately 50 km from the Russian-Abkhazian border. In fact, within the city limits begins the Pitsundo-Mussersky nature reserve, where relict pine and boxwood trees grow - it’s not for nothing that the resort is called one of the greenest in Abkhazia. Many come here to breathe sea air, saturated with healing phytoncides of coniferous trees.

The water off the coast of Pitsunda is considered the cleanest and most transparent. The beaches are wide, small-pebble, with a gentle entrance to the sea, convenient and safe even for small children.

Pitsunda is quite popular among young people, but the resort positions itself primarily as a family resort. It is worth noting that the infrastructure for recreation with children is not yet sufficiently developed. As a rule, the maximum that is offered to young travelers in hotels is cribs and playgrounds on site. Only a few accommodation facilities allow you to leave your child in the care of caregivers; this is worth keeping in mind for parents, especially those accustomed to the Turkish-Egyptian style of holiday. As for the beaches, such entertainment as inflatable slides, trampolines, etc., are currently only available on the central city beach.

In the center of Pitsunda there are boarding houses, known since the times of the USSR, with large park areas and fairly developed infrastructure. Some rooms have been partially renovated. New construction is carried out mainly in the nearest resort villages - Ldzaa and Alakhadzykh. As a rule, these are mini-hotels. Many were built in eco-style - made of wood, using natural materials.

Where to stay?

The hotels are separated from the beach by a pine grove. You can stay, for example, at the new Lucette 3*+ hotel, which opened just the other day. The rooms are comfortable, 50 m from the sea. On the first line there is a fairly popular 3* Palma hotel, which has a small protected area. A more budget option is “Kovcheg” 2*, 600 m from the beach - a wooden residential building with amenities, on its own territory - a bar with a fireplace, a relaxation area.

The village of Alakhadzykh is suitable for a relaxing family holiday. It began to be developed later than other resort places; the insufficient development of tourist infrastructure is compensated by silence, clear sea and a wide sand and pebble beach. We recommend accommodation in the 3* Paradise Corner hotel - 600 m to the beach, modern buildings in a protected area, full board meals.

Both families and young people will find it convenient to stay in the center of Pitsunda. I recommend the cozy and inexpensive hotel “Sosnovy Bor” 2*, located on Cypress Alley, 400 m from the sea. Another economical option is the guest house “U Alexandra” next to the Boxwood Grove, 200 meters from the beach. Also consider the new hotel “Arabica” 2* - guests can use the infrastructure and beach of the famous Litfond boarding house located nearby.

I would also like to note a very interesting accommodation facility – the Park Hotel “Ostrov” 2*. It is located quite far from the sea - 1.5 km, but right on the shore of a picturesque lake. The hotel is a complex of bamboo bungalows. There is beautiful nature around, you can go fishing, rent sports equipment. The local restaurant serves delicious food.

After the beach

While vacationing in Pitsunda, you should take the time to walk through the nature reserve, visit the historical museum, as well as the temple, famous for its organ; concerts are often held during the season.

In addition, we organize group excursions to Lake Ritsa, New Athos, Gudauta.

You can get acquainted with the Biblio Globus flight program to Abkhazia, learn about the features of the destination, and entry rules from ours.
