We organize active tours to Baikal in 2018. We have both youth-oriented programs and lightweight leisure options with small transitions in a walking mode, which even children and retirees can handle. Our consultants will help you choose the best option for active recreation on Lake Baikal.

Features of active recreation on Baikal

This type of tours involves being in nature, and sometimes overnight stays in the open air. Hence, there are a number of specific requirements that tourists should be aware of. In particular, be sure to have warm clothing with you, especially if you are going on a hike. Even in the middle of summer it can be quite cold here at night. And during the day, the sun shines very brightly, so you need UV protection. You also need mosquito and tick repellents. You can clarify the specific requirements for physical training and equipment from the consultants when making an application for the tour.

Options for active tours to Baikal 2018:

We offer:
  1. Camping with a tent. This is a classic holiday option for lovers of tourist romance. We try to make the crossings not very large so that without special preparation you can cope with the road. However, it is important to take into account that you still have to walk at least 10 kilometers, with a backpack, albeit at an easy pace. Therefore, this option is not suitable for everyone.
  2. Alloys. There are a lot of interesting places in the region for such a time of spending, you can go out on kayaks and boats on the lake itself to the bays. A great option for lovers of romance and moderate extreme.
  3. Mini cruises with trekking elements. Comfortable sailing with stops at picturesque islands and bays, going ashore on boats, small mini-hikes to attractions, picnics - all this is interesting, it is not physically difficult at all and is very beautiful. An excellent option for retirees who decided to remember the Komsomol youth, and family outdoor activities on Lake Baikal.
  4. Combined options. Includes excursions, 2-3 hour hikes, picnics, tourist transport trips, boat crossings, etc. A good, varied vacation that allows you to explore many places and spend time in nature.

Equipment

General equipment, as a rule, is included in the cost of active tours to Baikal in 2018. This includes a tent; if we are talking about rafting, then a kayak or a boat; a kettle and other fire equipment. What are active tours

These tours are of many different types. Depending on the season and the chosen direction, the vacationer can choose many interesting places on the lake for active leisure. The highlights of the summer season are fishing and scuba diving. You can go fishing by renting a special boat. There are also tourist programs that already include such entertainment. You can go fishing both in the backwater and away from the coastal strip. It all depends on what exactly the vacationer wants to catch. Departure takes place with experienced instructors, so that even a beginner in fishing has a high chance of a good catch. All caught fish can be taken with you. There are special places on the shore where they can clean it and prepare it as needed. This meal can be shared with your company or family at an evening meal in the gazebo. Scuba diving takes place only in warm weather. Divers know the most interesting dive sites. Therefore, having descended to the bottom, you can meet many unique species of representatives of the animal world, as well as vegetation. The water is very clean and the bottom is clearly visible many meters ahead. In addition to water activities, there are also classic tours. They are aimed at exploring the area. 1. Backpack
A backpack is needed not only for hiking and climbing. It is very convenient and mobile for transporting things from home to the airport, from the airport to the bus, from the bus to the hotel, etc. A good backpack is the one that "sits" on your back. Particular attention should be paid to the harness, it should fit comfortably and tightly to the back. Ask a shop assistant to put something heavy in your backpack and walk with him for 5-10 minutes. For the planned trip, it will be enough for you to have a backpack of 60-90 liters. We recommend Tatonka, Deuter, Red Fox backpacks.

2. Cushion and sleeping bag
The mat should be light, soft and not permeable to moisture and cold.
Choose a sleeping bag according to the temperature and filler material. For summer tours to Lake Baikal, sleeping bags with synthetic fillers are suitable, with a comfort temperature of 0 ...- 5 ° C (women can take a sleeping bag warmer). Please note that extreme temperatures are not an indicator of the comfort of a sleeping bag. Do not forget to take into account that sleeping bags differ in size and right / left zipper. We recommend watching Alexika, Vertical, Red Fox, Ferrino, Bask.

3. Waterproof and windproof clothing
First of all, these are trousers and a jacket. Both things should cover the lower back, ideally contain membrane fabrics (which allow clothes not to get wet and at the same time "breathe"), tighten on the sleeves and slacks. It is good if there is ventilation, pockets, reflective elements and puffs. Check out Red Fox, Sivera, Bask, Marmot, Salewa products. Be sure to bring a rain cover that will cover both you and your backpack.

4. Insulation
We recommend that you bring a jacket and trousers from Polartec. It is very pleasant to the body, warm, lightweight and quick-drying material. On Baikal evenings, you will be very comfortable in clothes made of such fabric. The recommended brands are the same as for jackets and trousers.

5. Dishes
Take only "iron" dishes made of light alloys. A mug - preferably thermo, so that the tea does not cool down. Plate, spoon and knife. Forks, teaspoons are unlikely to be useful to you.

6. Trekking and climbing shoes
For active tours, especially on foot, you will need good trekking boots. Ideally, the boot should have a minimum of seams, the main material should be leather, it should contain membrane fabrics, firmly fix the ankle and sit comfortably on the leg. Size your boots. Note that there are also mountain boots - you won't need them. It is better to buy boots a few months before the start of the trip and carry them at home. We recommend footwear from Asolo, LaSportiva, Meindl, Scarpa, Campus, Solomon. Light trekking shoes or sandals can be used as a change. For rock climbing, rock shoes (if available) or sneakers (preferably with a rubberized toe) are suitable.

6. Shoes for rafting and kayaks
For rafting and kayaks, hydrosocks or hydroboots are very suitable. In the absence of special equipment, rubber boots for cold weather and sandals for warm weather can be used. It should be noted that the sandals must hold firmly to the foot. You can also use trekking boots or sneakers on the bivouac.

7. Wetsuits
For kayaks, we recommend taking wetsuits, they will keep warm with constant contact with water.

8. Individual tourist seat
It will be more pleasant for you to sit, for example, in a kayak, and it can additionally protect your lower back from the wind during walks.

In addition to the above equipment, do not forget to take:

  • cap or bandana
  • light hat
  • gloves
  • sunscreen (protection factor at least 20)
  • sunglasses (with UV protection at least 2)
  • headlamp and spare batteries
  • trekking socks
  • bathing accessories
  • repellents from mosquitoes and ticks (it is better to buy in Irkutsk, because they may not be allowed on the plane with them)
  • personal first aid kit (if you have any medical conditions)
  • personal hygiene products (including toilet paper and wet wipes)
  • rain cover
  • photo and video equipment, as well as spare flash cards and batteries / rechargeable batteries
  • portable charger (power bank)
  • small hydrobags for documents
  • gloves neoprene or just sports
  • down vests or thin puffs (for those who go on tour in early August)
