We were in Prague in January 2007. The small details of the trip, of course, can no longer be remembered, but the general mood that accompanied us during our stay in this magical city will remain in our memory, if not forever, then at least for a long time.
View of Prague Castle and St. Vitus Cathedral from Charles Bridge:

Everyone has heard and read eulogies about Prague, so I will not floridly describe all its charms and eloquently confess my love to Prague. There will be just a few photos of this supercity, as we saw it on our trip, with a few comments.
We were lucky with the weather: there was no snow, periodically the sun peeped out and only a couple of times it rained for a short time.
Old Town Hall with clock

When the clock strikes, figures appear in the windows

And this is the "meridian", which seems to be the center of Europe))

Synagogue clocks in two versions. Jewish ones look like a mirror image of ordinary ones and, accordingly, go in the opposite direction.

These little "buttons" are scattered throughout the city. In my opinion, very cute))

A wheel from some sooooo ancient mill

Saint John of Nepomuk, martyr

View from the Charles Bridge to the Vltava

There are always a lot of tourists on the Charles Bridge during the day.

At Prague Castle

A real gas lamp that works to this day

Bishop's residence at Prague Castle

St. Vitus Cathedral outside ...

... and inside

View of Prague from Prague Castle

In the courtyard of the Franz Kafka Museum, you can see such wonderful pissing boys. By the way, they display the letters of the Latin alphabet in trickles))

But this sticker on the back of the road sign plunged us into some shock ...

Walking in the evening through the deserted Prague Castle, we came across such a sculpture. We didn't really understand what it was about, but it seems like something about the war ...
This is a front view ...

well, this is, in fact, behind))))

As you understand, I could not pass by such beauty))
Prague is regularly exposed to terrible floods. The last one was in August 2002. In the restaurant "Black Eagle" (hello to fans of Lukyanenko))) we saw this photo, in which the unfortunate restaurant itself is shown with a white arrow, almost on the roof in the water:

To top off our excursion program, we decided to visit as many of the most interesting Prague pubs as possible)) In one of them, the Old Town Brewery, there are such napkins on the tables with a plan of this very underground restaurant. It should be noted that there really are such long labyrinths! On the way to the toilet, you can get lost 5 times))

Cathedral of St. Ludmila

We don't know anything about him, we just found it on the map and decided to take a walk to take a picture of it.
Hmm, and this is ... a sock)))) lies so alone in the middle of the street ...)))

The famous "Dancing House"

Museum building on Wenceslas Square

And here is Wenceslas Square itself.

And finally, a few more photos ...

That's it))
I highly recommend to everyone, everyone, everyone to go to Prague at least once. You need to see this city with your own eyes, no photos will convey its atmosphere and beauty!
Personally, I will try to get there one more time before the introduction of the euro;)) Such delicious beer for 30-40 rubles, which was brewed in the very restaurant where it is served to you, is nowhere else, I'm sure!))))
So ... EVERYTHING IN PRAGUE !!!

The ancient and romantic capital of the Czech Republic, Prague, is located on the banks of the Vltava River. Today Prague is one of the most beautiful cities in Europe, which is steeped in the spirit of a majestic history. Modern Prague is a fairly large city, covering an area of 500 sq. km and divided into 15 districts. The geographical location of the capital of the Czech Republic is indeed very beneficial - the city "spreads" along the terraced slopes along the Vltava, so the panoramic views that open up are amazing.

The architecture of the city is also interesting - different styles, stretching into modern times from different eras, are intertwined here in an intricate way. Classical Romanesque architecture, Gothic, Baroque and Rococo are combined with modern Art Nouveau buildings. Whichever route you take for a walk, unique architecture will surround you everywhere. Do not forget to climb the Petřín Hill and enjoy the views from the observation deck. Have you noticed? Of course, you are not in Paris, this building is simply nothing more than a miniature copy of the famous Eiffel Tower. Lovers of the Gothic style in architecture will certainly appreciate with its legendary Golem - this is an interesting place not only in the Czech Republic, but throughout Central Europe, which has retained its original appearance for about 700 years.

All Czech cities are interesting and unique in their own way, they can be used to “read” the history of the Czech Republic, like a book. The urban complex located in the south of the country is especially interesting. Telc, Olomouc, Český Krumlov, Brno, Kutná Hora will leave a deep mark in the memory thanks to their uniqueness and originality. But visiting the Czech Republic and not wandering around Prague is unforgivable, because this city is unlike any other. Architectural monuments, Gothic castles, fortifications, and narrow seemingly endless streets where you can wander for hours - isn't this enough to make you fall in love with Prague once and for all?

Having decided to visit the capital of the Czech Republic, you must definitely plan a visit to see with your own eyes,, and. And good food and beer, which is justifiably considered one of the best in the world, will only enhance the pleasant experience of Prague.

Today it has spread across the Vltava River, and in fact it was created in the XIV century and was built over a long 50 years. Just imagine: a real gallery, located in the open air and stretching for 516 meters, is decorated with 30 sculptural compositions. A very interesting legend is associated with one of them. To keep the secret of the queen's confession, Charles IV ordered to throw John of Nepomuk into the dark waters of the Vltava. It is believed that the sculpture of Jan Nepomuk can make wishes come true, so tourists consider it their duty to rub the statue in the hope of fulfilling their cherished dreams. Why not try, what if? ..

Prague Castle is both the historical and political center of the Czech capital. It is here that the residence of the president is located. Although there are a great many attractions in the Prague Castle, it deserves a separate mention. This temple is unique in that (just imagine!) It took 500 years to build. And today this building, striking in its splendor, combines several architectural styles at once: Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque. All Czech rulers passed the coronation ceremony here, and some of them were buried in the cathedral. At the top of the bell tower, you can enjoy a stunning view of the entire city. True, to get there, you will have to work hard and overcome as many as 287 steps. The lazy can count them, what if there are actually more or less of them? A visit to Prague Castle does not end there: in no case should you be ignored Old royal palace and National Gallery, and Franz Kafka himself once walked along the old Golden Lane and even lived there in one of the houses.

If you have been to Prague and have not seen or heard « » then you have lost a lot. Backlit jets of water flying to the accompaniment of world-famous musical masterpieces make an impression that will not be forgotten for a long time. Well, if you really wanted to get there, but for some reason did not succeed in carrying out your plans, you can purchase a video of the show.

Famous historical site bearing the name Hradcany, abounds in palaces, cathedrals and temples: Cherninskyand Tuscan palaces, churches St. John of Nepomuk, Virgin mary and St. Roch.

It is here that a symbolic copy of the house of the Virgin Mary is located, which is unique for its bell ringing. And now it is a working museum of national Czech writing.

The most magnificent palace in the city of Prague - - is located in the second oldest quarter (Mala Strana). Previously, this palace was the residence of Marshal Wallenstein, and now this magnificent architectural structure is occupied by the Senate. In the Wallenstein and Ledeburg gardens, you can find huge parks, teeming with reservoirs, artificial grottoes and greenhouses.

Well, Nove Mesto is considered the youngest historical district of Prague. There is no doubt - despite the "youth", there is also something to see here. To - the heart of the district - adjoins. The most interesting and oldest museum collection in Prague is located here. Nearby is and - this austere beauty building was built and then rebuilt for 200 years. Any educated person knows the literary hero Faust. So it is here that there is a house in which chemists lived, whom popular rumor linked with the famous doctor who exchanged his own soul for scientific knowledge. Another interesting attraction of Prague is this. The office building consists of two towers: an ordinary tower and a destructive one.

If after all that you have read, you still have doubts about whether it is worth spending your time visiting Prague, then throw them away immediately. can be planned, in general, at any time of the year. The maximum daytime temperature in January is -1.1 ° С, in August +24.1 ° С, the night temperature in January usually does not drop below -4 ° С, and in August it reaches +13.4 ° С.

So we are waiting for you in Prague. Prepare documents for a visa, book in advance, and who will tell and show everything. And welcome to the fairy tale!

Regards your best!

Attractions of Prague on the map (Mala Strana district)

Prague landmarks in the Hradcany area

33. Prague Castle

Prague Castle is the largest castle in the world, it can be safely included in the category "Main attractions of Prague" along with Charles Bridge and Old Town Square. Previously, the kings of the Czech Republic and the Holy Roman Empire lived here, now the residence of the president is here - of course, also the largest in the world. There is a huge number of beautiful buildings in styles from Gothic to Baroque with an interesting history, you can read more about them in our article:

Prague Castle, like the whole city, is especially beautiful during the golden autumn.

34. St. Vitus Cathedral

The Gothic Cathedral of St. Vitus is considered one of the most beautiful churches in Europe. Founded back in 925, various premises of the temple were built up to the XX century. Here are buried St. Wenceslas, kings and archbishops of the Czech Republic, and now in the Cathedral of St. Vitus is the residence of the Archbishop of Prague.

The full name of the temple is the Cathedral of St. Vitus, Wenceslas and Vojtech. But for some reason, the last two are forgotten all the time.

35. Basilica of St. George

The oldest church in Prague Castle, founded at the beginning of the 10th century. At the end of the same century, the convent of St. George was added to it, which no longer operates. The first nun of the abbey was the prince's sister Vlada.

36. Schwarzenberg Palace

The Schwarzenberg Palace in Prague was built in the middle of the 16th century and is considered one of the masterpieces of Czech Renaissance architecture. It now houses a gallery of paintings by Czech artists and an exhibition of weapons. From the outside it seems that the palace is lined with relief tiles, but this is an optical effect: in fact, it is a very skillful painting.

Schwarzenberg Palace seems to be decorated with relief tiles in the shape of a pyramid.

37. Royal Garden

The Royal Garden is separated from the Prague Castle by the Deer Moat. Here, for the first time, such unusual for the Czech Republic plants as maple, chestnut, figs, and tulips began to be bred. Before that, royal vineyards grew here.

The Royal Garden is located within walking distance of Prague Castle and it is convenient to visit these sights of Prague in one visit.

38. Queen Anne's Summer Palace

Queen Anne is the wife of Ferdinand I, Holy Roman Emperor. The Queen's Summer Palace was built in the eastern part of the Royal Garden in the 16th century. Now there are exhibitions of paintings and sometimes the President of the Czech Republic receives guests.

Queen Anne's Summer Palace is not quite typical of Prague in its architecture, it was built by Italians.

39. Street New World

Very quiet, cozy and beautiful street not far from Prague Castle, where you can enjoy a relaxing walk without the tourist crowds. The houses here are small, like toys. Since the XIV century, servants and builders who worked in the Prague Castle lived here, after which musicians and other creative people chose this place.

Welcome to Novy Svet Street - a tourist-free territory! Could you please move away, I'm taking pictures. Both you and you three, thank you.

40. Prague Loreta

Prague Loreta is a whole complex of buildings in the area of Loreta Square. These are mainly religious buildings built in the 17th century, as well as two fountains. The largest and most beautiful building is the Church of the Nativity of the Lord (pictured).

In winter, Prague Loreta is beautiful! However, in summer it is no less beautiful.

41. Strahov Monastery

The Strahov Monastery in Prague was founded in the middle of the 12th century, and in the 17th century it was completely rebuilt after a fire. The largest library of the Czech Republic is located here, but the most interesting thing for tourists is the monastery brewery with delicious, but not divinely expensive beer. The monastery walls offer a beautiful panoramic view of the sights of Prague located on the opposite bank of the Vltava River.

42. Zizkov TV Tower

This tower deserves to be included in the list of "Main attractions of Prague" because many consider it to be the ugliest building in Prague (only eyeless babies climbing the tower are worth something). It is also the tallest building in the Czech Republic, with a height of 216 meters. At an altitude of 93 meters, there is an observation deck with a view of dubious beauty - after all, the main attractions are far away.

They say that in clear weather the ižkov TV tower offers a view even of neighboring countries.

43. Prague Zoo

If you love animals or come with a child for a few days, you simply cannot pass by this Prague landmark. The local zoo is considered one of the best in the world, with almost five thousand animals from all over the world! There is also a very beautiful territory here, the inscriptions are duplicated in Russian, and a separate article is devoted to the Prague menagerie on our website:

There is also a free service at the Prague Zoo: bird feeding! Myself)))

44. Troy Castle

Troy Castle (also known as the Troy Summer Palace) is located across the street from the Prague Zoo. Built at the end of the 17th century for local nobles, now it houses an art gallery and a wine museum. To save money, you can buy a Troy Card combined ticket for 300 CZK and use it to visit three nearby Prague attractions: Troy Castle, Botanical Garden and Zoo.

The Czech Republic is not only about beer. The traditions of winemaking are also very strong here, and there is even a wine museum in Troy Castle.

45. Letná Gardens

Letná sady is a very large beautiful park on a hill near the Vltava river. There are a lot of interesting things here: shady alleys and sunny lawns, the Prague metronome and the oldest carousel in Europe, cozy restaurants and playgrounds ... But the main thing is that there are several viewing platforms (and all of them are free!), From which a beautiful view of all the bridges opens. Vltava and Old Town.
