And so in the regional center all types of intercity and urban transport are represented. If we talk about transportation within the city, then buses, trolleybuses and trams are available for residents. But if we talk about trips to other settlements, then the railway remains out of competition here, because Irkutsk is a major hub on the Trans-Siberian Railway.

In Irkutsk, even railway stations are equated with monuments

To serve passenger and freight rail transportation in Irkutsk, 2 stations were built: "Irkutsk-Passenger" and "Irkutsk-Sorting". The main station is the first where trains are served long distance and suburban communications.

The station building appeared here in 1897, and exactly 100 years later a major reconstruction was carried out.

By the way, the Irkutsk railway station is considered a monument of federal significance. The station is equipped with three platforms with 14 tracks.

Little Winter of the winter region

But the Irkutsk region is not only its capital, there are many interesting and original settlements here. One of them is Zima, located at a distance of 230 km from the regional center. This settlement became a city in 1922, today the population of Zima is just over 30 thousand people. Despite not the largest number of residents, there are schools, lyceums, vocational schools, youth sports schools, cultural and entertainment centers, cinema and other objects of social infrastructure.

From Zima station at any time of the year

If we talk about transport, you can get into the city or leave it by bus or by rail. Zima has a large station that connects the city with other settlements region. The station of the same name appeared in parallel with the construction of the Trans-Siberian Railway and today serves several dozen long-distance flights. From here you can get not only to other cities of the country (Moscow, Vladivostok, Chita), but also to other states: China, Mongolia.

From Zima to Irkutsk by rail

Naturally, the most popular route among Zimints is a trip to the regional center, and it is most convenient to carry it out on the good old electric train. To date, the train schedule Zima - Irkutsk has only three electric trains, so those who wish to go to Irkutsk need to be extremely careful, because if they are late, they will have to wait a very long time. In principle, electric trains depart from here towards the regional center one at a time in the morning, afternoon and evening.

Not Irkutsk alone

All 3 trains start their journey in Zima and arrive at the platform of the central station of Irkutsk. Naturally, not all passengers can go to their final destination, because on the way to Irkutsk the electric train makes 25 stops where you can get off and transfer to trains going in other directions. So, by electric train you can get to:
— Oka;
- Stopping point of the 4971st km;
- Hartovskaya;
- Jargon;
— Malta.
Stops here are short, so it is better to hurry up with disembarkation or landing.
