I really hope that those troubled times in which they considered almost the most terrible airport in Europe have passed. Stale sandwiches made from the day before yesterday’s bread and cheap sausage were added to the hotbed of hatred for the price of a good lunch in the center of Kyiv. The aftertaste remains to this day, although kind words appear on traveler forums. Moreover, the messages date back to the end of 2015 - 2016, both from Ukrainians and foreign guests.

So, I have a long wait for a flight and I don’t want to spend money in duty-free, I’m hungry, I want to drink coffee and eat a delicious dessert. Before writing this text, I visited every restaurant Boryspil airport, tried several dishes, drank tea and ate dessert and abstained from alcohol, which usually eats up half of the lunch budget.

Five different places in two and a half hours, different prices, different levels of comfort. All points are located in Terminal D, one - Meeting Point– in the departure hall on the 3rd floor, before the passport control area, the rest directly in the duty-free area.

Cafe MeetingPoint

I'll start with something simple. Meeting Point Cafe the first place to eat. It is also the most inexpensive with the price of lunch - around 3.5 euros (110 UAH) with tea or coffee. I would pay the same or more in similar places in Kyiv. The menu is long, from coffee and sandwiches to hot dumplings, dumplings and even borscht. Fast, simple, delicious, almost like home. Everything is edible, suitable for those who do not want to overpay for more refined cuisine and for those who want to drink a glass of wine and chat before flying out. It's worth stopping by if you're hungry or need to while away the time with a cup of coffee, a bottle of beer, or a glass of wine. Located on the third floor terminal D of Boryspil airport, you can go up by elevator or escalator.

Italian restaurant SpiritodiItaliano

The second point where you can eat deliciously is restaurant Spirito di Italiano, located in the departure area, after passing through passport control. I liked this place the most. Italian cuisine, beautiful discreet design and good service. There are three soups on the menu - minestrone, fish soup with olives, consommé, pasta, appetizers - antipasto, and several dishes - meat, chicken, fish. I haven’t tried the soup, but it looks delicious - I spied it from my neighbors.
Ordered ossobuco– a famous Italian dish of veal shin stewed with vegetables and rice on the side (pictured). Very, very tasty, besides, the portion size is similar to an emergency airfield (500 grams), I even liked the rice, although I don’t eat it in Ukraine. As for drinks, I limited myself to herbal tea and went to try dessert somewhere else about half an hour after dinner.

Prices are higher than in the previous cafe, but quite similar to Kyiv or lower in restaurants of the same format. If you don’t choose the most expensive dishes, it’s quite possible to stay within 10 euros for lunch (300 UAH). For 15-20 euros you can overeat a lot, considering the size of the portions, or split the meal between two.

Conclusion - Spirito di Italiano the best, albeit most expensive place from the entire line of cafes, bars and restaurants in Boryspil airport. Considering that NOT all flights now provide food, I think it’s worth having lunch or dinner at home rather than looking for something dubious upon arrival. I don't like being hungry.

VoyageBar

In this place Boryspil airport I've been at least a couple of times. They have delicious pizza and a good choice drinks. The prices are lower than in Spirito di Italiano, but if I'm hungry I'll go to an Italian restaurant. IN Voyage Bar Just have a snack or drink before departure.
For those interested, I took a photo of the menu with prices. Tea-coffee - 35-40 UAH.

CafeGourmet

A more budget-friendly alternative to an Italian restaurant. Several types of burgers – 155-200 UAH, sandwiches up to 80 UAH. and desserts. I came here for them. I recommend the apple pie, it’s very tender and just melts in your mouth. You can eat a couple of these with coffee and not have lunch.
Average price of desserts- near 2.50 euros (65-80 UAH). It’s not a pity at all for such tasty treats. As confirmation, the hall is full of people. And this is not rush hour - around 17:00 pm, airport It was half empty, I was very surprised.

Where to drink coffee at Boryspil airport -FlyCoffee

There are several options, coffee is served in any of the above establishments, I don’t think the taste is very different. U FlyCoffee The coffee is not bad, better than in the famous chain coffee shops in Kyiv. The price is about 1 euro depending on the type of coffee. There are also sandwiches and beer that cost significantly more than what I'm willing to pay, I won't say anything.

Conclusions and general review of the Boryspil airport cafe

Over the past two years, there have been many positive changes; the Italian restaurant pleasantly surprised me with its atmosphere and cuisine, although connoisseurs of Italian cuisine will certainly find something to complain about, including the dill in minestrone. I support the high price of alcohol and beer - the airport is not the place to fill yourself up with cheap alcohol.

If I want to eat, I'll go to Spirito di Italiano, if quickly - in Voyage Bar, to drink coffee - Fly Coffee, cheap and cheerful, and for desserts - only in Gourmet. Drink with friends before departure - in Meeting Point. What will I never do? I won't buy wrapped sandwiches and ours local bottled beer, then it’s better to have a hot pizza to go from the same Voyage Bar.

The prices they like to talk about didn’t scare me. They are lower than in all European airports I have been to. I can even compare them with Asian ones, with better service.

Arrivals area

The red and green corridor zones are clearly defined. In the baggage claim area there are 3 carousels, the dimensions of which allow the baggage claim of a passenger arriving at the airport to be issued in a shorter time.

The convenient location has been helping to fly to all kinds of air destinations for almost 60 years. At the moment, more than fifty local and foreign airlines are engaged in passenger transportation. Let's understand the intricacies of the enterprise and the opportunities provided to passengers.

The airfield has two large runways for takeoff and landing. The length of one of them is more than three and a half thousand meters, the other is four thousand meters. The last runway is designed in such a way as to be able to accommodate any type of airliner under different weather and temperature conditions. Four passenger terminal on the diagram of Boryspil airport on the map of Kyiv they are located in this order:

  • A – is currently under reconstruction. It was founded to serve users moving around the country.
  • B – previously was the largest terminal of the airport, both domestic and international flights took place here. It was closed in 2014 due to the construction of a new building.
  • C – like the previous two, it is turnkey, but until mid-2012, private aircraft and VIP clients were serviced at the base. Now this role has gone to another terminal.
  • D – today the main part of the airport. Provides services to companies flying domestic and international flights, while providing quality service to VIPs. It is the largest terminal in all of Ukraine. The total area is more than 100 thousand square meters. m. Moreover, about 10 million air passengers pass through it every year.

An interactive diagram of Boryspil Airport on a map of Kyiv can be found on the company’s website. The schematic diagram shows the location of the main buildings, car parking areas and hotel complexes located next to the air hub.

Thanks to the simple location of the terminal nodes, any tourist can get to the desired department and calmly receive all types of services.

Let us describe the interior of the main building, where the issuance of air tickets and documents for baggage transportation takes place.

There are many important systems operating inside the D-terminal:

  • 60 passenger registration departments;
  • 6 counters for online registration;
  • 20 security control points;
  • 28 passport control mode windows;
  • 11 teleconferences.

The premises have three floors. You can move between them using an elevator, stairs, and of course, an escalator. The building has bars, restaurants, lounges, currency exchange offices and various shops. Passengers arriving for departure enter the building on the third floor. Upon entering, you immediately notice the counters where the airport terminal employees accept documents.

Passengers pass through the security department and passport control to the departure corridor. There you can pass the time by visiting points Duty Free. Next, lounges are open for business class clients. The halls have an accessible Internet network with a wireless connection, allowing you to view websites, videos, and communicate with your family online for free. It is worth recalling that the main complex provides support for both national and international flights.

Thanks to a simplified control system, travelers arriving on transit flights do not need to undergo additional screening. Boryspil Airport on the map of Kyiv has a base where air cargo transportation services are provided.

Since its founding in 2010, the department has served mainly to process charter flights. The structure was fairly well equipped; documents were registered at 30 counters. There were also two checkpoints. There was a separate section for keeping track of oversized luggage.

On given time Block F is closed as it undergoes conversion from the passenger to cargo section of the complex. Today, two additional cargo terminals are actively operating at the airport: E and BW, which are ready to receive and sort a large number of large goods and other cargo for various purposes.

Where to park the car

There are six parking lots near the airport terminal. But if you decide to leave your car at one of them, you should be careful. The cost of stopping at different terminals varies slightly. For example, drivers leaving vehicle near Terminal D, they may not pay for a seat for the first 20 minutes. But for a longer parking time you will have to pay 50 hryvnia (about 110 rubles) per hour. Near building F there are no privileges for a short stay, but an hour of parking there costs 10 times less.

The diagram of the Boryspil airport on the map of Kyiv shows that right next to the airport there is a three-star hotel where travelers can live peacefully for several days. It is worth keeping in mind that prices there are higher than average. However, after driving just 10 minutes, you can find other, more economical accommodation options in the capital. Therefore, experienced tourists are advised to think over the route ahead of time and book a room in a capital hotel at a favorable price. A choice of options is offered by partner services of many airlines. You can place your order online and continue with your pre-flight preparations.

Transfers to the airport

Many guests of Kyiv worry about the convenience of getting to the airport from a hotel or city center in order to catch a plane. Increased interest among business people and ordinary travelers in beautiful cities Ukraine, including Kyiv and the Kyiv region, led to an increase in the flow of airline customers. To provide optimal comfort for thousands of guests, a wide transport infrastructure has been created by various types of vehicles.

In accordance with the scheme, Boryspil airport on the map of Kyiv is located 30 kilometers from the capital of Ukraine. Therefore, air tourists are encouraged to use public or private by land transport. You can get to the check-in point for your flight in the following ways:

  • by taxi - the fastest way, the cost varies from 60 to 300 hryvnia;
  • by Skybus buses - the route runs from Yuzhny railway station with a stop near the Kharkovskaya metro station, and the journey from the station will take about an hour, and from the metro it will take about twenty minutes. Bus services run every half hour during the day, and once every hour at night;
  • by car – when check-in opens, you can get to the airport via the M03 and E40 highways.

When calculating travel time, you should take into account that there are traffic jams in the city in the evening. Information about traffic congestion on highways can be obtained from online applications on a smartphone. By learning about this problem in advance, you will not risk being late for check-in. Then we recommend using the metro. We wish you soft landings!
