Residents of the village of Nikolici, Kungurskiy district, Perm Territory, found dry, cracked earth on the site of the forest lake Cave. There was no water or fish that lived in this reservoir. There was only a small hole leading deep into the earth. Apparently, the Cave Lake flowed there.

Together with Olga Kolyvanova, a specialist from the Ostashat House of Culture, who contacted the editorial office of the local newspaper Iskra, we are driving along a forest road to the disappeared lake. It is a kilometer from Nikolic.

-The fact that the lake was gone, I was told by a neighbor. He says it was still at the end of April. I went into the forest on May 9, and in its place there was a puddle and a small hole, - says Olga Stanislavovna. - Creepy. They have been fishing in it all their lives. And the bait and nets. And then suddenly it took and disappeared. Why would it suddenly?

Where has the Cave gone?

We go down to the lowland and follow along a small log. Melt water rushes along it in the spring and fills a hollow, shaped like an elongated comma. Now on the site of Lake Cave there is a large bright spot, the "bottom" cracked in the sun. Judging by the outlines, the length of the reservoir reached 80 meters. Near the coast from the side of the forest, a small hole is visible and a narrow hole one and a half meters from the surface, through which, apparently, the lake went, dragging away the entire aquatic fauna. About ten kilometers from the disappeared lake is the entrance to the Zuyat cave, which is considered one of the largest in the Perm region. Its length is 1410 meters. It is notable for an underground lake at the entrance and a stream. Some of the passages are completely flooded. The water level is subject to significant seasonal fluctuations. Maybe the formed ponor (the place through which the water left) is the entrance to another cave?

Why did the bottom crack?

Locals are guessing. One of the versions is that an earthquake in the Sverdlovsk region with a power of 4.1 points at the epicenter, which happened last fall on the night of October 19, affected. Iskra talked about this on October 20 in the article "Tremors of the Earth". Judging by the statements in social networks, the vibration was felt not only by residents of the Sverdlovsk region, but also by the Perm region. It shook in Nikolici too. Maybe this soil vibration led to the formation of a crack at the bottom of the reservoir? Another version is the activity of oil workers. In the neighboring Berezovsky district, oil is being extracted from the ground. Voids are formed.

All around the failures

The excitement of residents about the disappeared lake is understandable: the villages are on a karst. Failures, as the locals call small sinkholes, is a common phenomenon here. But the disappearance of the whole lake is a reason to be wary. The only source of water supply for the villages is Lake Lyubimovo. True, it is located on the opposite side of the collapsed lake - three kilometers from Ostashat. About half a kilometer away from it, about ten years ago, Lake Chervyaki went underground. Then the hole was covered with stones and clay. And in the spring, the cavity was filled with water again. Residents, of course, are worried whether such cases of the disappearance of miraculous reservoirs will not become a pattern. In Ostashaty and Nikolici, from the blessings of civilization - electricity and a water supply system served by the local collective farm. A lopsided 30-meter pipe stuck into the ground is a water tower. The pump drives liquid from Lake Lyubimovo into it, then it enters houses through the water supply network. In the village of Nikolici, which stands on a hill, water flows poorly since the beginning of the garden season: there is not enough pressure. In the village itself, there are several long-standing karst gaps, filled with rainfall in the spring. The lakes are protected. Periodically cleaned of mud. They keep cattle out and do not rinse linen. The water in them, relatively speaking, is for drinking. There are no other sources of drinking water.

- Now it is difficult to draw any conclusions. The opening of a crack or a hole through which the water left could have occurred both as a result of man-made impacts and for natural reasons. I do not exclude that there may be a cave under the lake. We have not yet visited the site. Over time, the ponor should be tightened with clay, earth. After a while, the lake may return.

A lake in Tunisia appeared in 1 day. A phenomenon in the desert.

If in our Perm Territory the lake disappeared in one night, then in Tunisia the lake appeared in one day. Aren't these wonders of nature?

In Tunisia, a lake appeared in the middle of the desert. A large space with turquoise water appeared in the Tunisian desert in just 1 day, in a place where, apart from hot sand, there was nothing. This phenomenon lake was discovered by shepherds. It is believed to be up to 18 meters deep and cover one hectare. Local geologists suspect that the reservoir arose due to seismic activity, perhaps a rupture occurred above the water table, which opened the passage of liquid to the surface of the rock. Hundreds local residents have arranged a beach and enjoy this miracle in an area where they have always languished from the heat. However, water can contain chemical impurities of phosphates, which can be harmful to human health, but so far this has not stopped anyone.

In the Vyaznikovsky district, the Sakantsy forest karst lake near the settlement of Pivovarovo went underground. The video of the disappeared reservoir, at the bottom of which only silt remained, was published by the Vyaznikovsky offroad community

“On October 12, 2017 at 13:30 in the village of Pivovarovo on Lake Sakantsy, there was a failure. All the water went away with the fish ", - this caption is accompanied by the video.

According to the Internet portal, which tells about the life of the two cities of Vyazniki and Gorokhovets, Yaropolch.ru, the Sakantsy karst lake was located about 40 meters from the famous Pivovarovskoye Gap, formed in 1959. The Pivovarovsky Gap itself, according to old-timers, is a foundation pit in the middle of the forest, into which a nine-story building could fit. Now the slopes of the hole are overgrown with trees

As Zebra TV explained the director of the Department of Nature Management and Protection environment Administration of the Vladimir region Alexey Migachev, it is not surprising that karst sinkholes are formed in the Vladimir region, especially in the Vyaznikovsky, Gorokhovetsky and Murom districts. This is due to the specifics of the geological processes in these territories.

“Karst formation is in progress. That is, aquifers pass through some rocks containing silt, they are washed out, dissolves and voids are formed. In some places, strata form close to the surface and similar dips are formed. These processes have been going on for decades, no sharp collapses occur. And in this place, a void has already formed under this lake, there is about two meters of silt, which held water. But, apparently, after the rains, these processes became more active, and the silt in some place simply subsided, and the water flowed away like into a funnel.

What will happen with this next - different points of view are expressed. There were cases when these lakes reappeared. The bottom line is that the place of the failure can become silted, and then again it can become a place of accumulation of water. But the lake may not recover.

In the Sobinsky district, 15 years ago, a lake also went underground. It stood for 5 years without water, and then it was filled with water. There was such a story in Gus-Khrustalny. Nobody knows why this is happening. Because if you start research, start drilling the surface, the situation can get worse.

Such gaps can form anywhere throughout the territory, especially in the Vyaznikovsky, Gorokhovetsky and Murom districts. There is an active formation of karsts ”, - explained Zebra TV Alexey Migachev.

By the way, it was precisely the karst relief, prone to collapses, that was the most powerful argument against the construction of a nuclear power plant near Murom in the Navashinsky district of the Nizhny Novgorod region. However, this did not prevent the authorities from approving this particular site for the construction of the nuclear power plant.

“According to geologists, karst lakes go underground due to the dissolution of rocks by ground and surface waters. In the case of Lake Sakantsy, the water was retained thanks to the muddy bottom, which played the role of a plug between the lake and an underground river flowing at a depth of 80 m.

In addition to Vyaznikovsky, karst processes cover Kameshkovsky, Kovrovsky, Gorokhovetsky, Muromsky, Selivanovsky, Sudogodsky, Melenkovsky and Gus-Khrustalny districts ", - explained later

Only a funnel with a muddy bottom remained at the site of the reservoir.

Experts believe that the water went underground due to voids caused by soil erosion.

We are talking about karst formation, when rocks containing silt pass through aquifers, and then erodes them, and voids are formed. This is sometimes the reason for such failures, according to the "360" TV channel.

The lake was located near the famous Pivovarovsky Gap, which was formed in 1959 and was a pit the size of a nine-story building. Now it is overgrown with trees.

However, ecologists saw nothing surprising in the failure. Due to the geological features of these places, such failures often occur in Vyaznikovsky, Murom and Gorokhovetsky districts.

Perhaps the lake will recover, but it is still impossible to say for sure what will happen to the reservoir next.

In the Sobinsky district, a lake also went underground for 15 years. It stood without water for five years and then filled up again. The same story happened in Gus-Khrustalny. Nobody can explain these processes. Moreover, he does not undertake to investigate: drilling can only aggravate the situation. Such failures can appear anywhere.

The forest lake Sakantsy, more than 20 m deep, completely went underground in the Vyaznikovsky district of the Vladimir region.

The head of the department of water resources and water use of the regional administration Ivan Shaposhnikov told the journalists about the unique natural phenomenon.

He explained that this was due to the processes of karst formation in the area.

“As a result of soil erosion, voids were formed, into which the water went along with the fish. It is still impossible to say what will happen to the lake further.

There is a possibility that the place of the failure will flood and the lake will recover again. At present, there is only a funnel on the site of the lake, ”said the specialist.

Shaposhnikov clarified that the lake was located near the Pivovarovskoye Gap, a similar karst sinkhole that formed in 1959.

A sinkhole is a natural sinkhole. A sinkhole occurs when groundwater erodes soil and rocks, and the earth falls into the resulting voids.
