The Boeing 747 400 is a double-deck jet passenger aircraft designed to carry more than 500 passengers. This modification of the Boeing can fly over a distance of up to 14 thousand kilometers. Today, air transportation on this airliner is carried out by Rossiya Airlines.

History of the aircraft

This modification of Boeing was created on the basis of the Boeing 747 300. In the mid-80s, the 300th modification of Boeing did not allow the full capabilities of Boeing Airplanes to be realized. In view of this, it was decided to create a new modification of the airliner, which will be characterized by increased fuel economy, longer flight range, improved interior and a 10% reduction in operating costs. The development of the new vessel began back in 1985, and the first rollout of the 400th took place in January 1988. By that time, about 100 orders for the production of the Boeing 400 had been received.

The first official flight of the new vessel took place on April 29, 1988. The new modification of the B747 remained in flight for more than 2 hours. Test pilot James Lesh and his crew were pleased with the test results, which allowed the vessel to receive an airworthiness certificate. On January 26, 1989, the first 400 was delivered to Northwest Airlines. And just 2 weeks later the first passenger flight of this airliner took place on the Minneapolis-Phoenix route.

Cabin configuration

The cabin layout of the Boeing 747 400 of Rossiya Airlines provides for the division of seats into 2 categories: economy and business. In economy class, the distance between the seats is no more than 90 cm. At the same time, the seats recline only 60 degrees. For the convenience of economy class passengers, each seat has a folding table.

Thanks to the special design of the seats in business class, they can be transformed into an almost full-fledged bed. The advantage of this is also considered to be a greater distance between the seats. Another plus is a special menu for passengers, free drinks and access to Wi-Fi.

The main feature of this liner is its division into lower and upper decks. The standard number of seats on the lower tier is 470. This deck is designed exclusively for economy class passengers. The basic configuration of the seats is 3:4:3. However, there are exceptions. For example, the rear of the ship uses a 2:4:2 layout, and the bow uses a 2:3:2 layout.

Important! There are 3 blocks of bathrooms on the lower deck: in the tail, between the 20th and 22nd lines, and also at the 43-44th rows. The Boeing 747 400 also has dressing rooms (rows 54-59) and catering units (rows 31-34). The descent from the upper deck is located near row 31.

The upper deck of the liner is represented by both business and economy class. Business class seats are located from the first to the third line. Starting from the 5th row, the “increased economy class” begins. The upper tier is located in the nose of the aircraft. For the convenience of passengers on the upper tier, there are 2 bathroom blocks. The capacity of the standard upper deck is 41 seats (business - 12 and economy - 29).

You should know! There are 3 main schemes for the Boeing 747 400 of Rossiya Airlines. The EI-XLM scheme differs significantly from the standard version. In accordance with this layout, passengers can occupy Super Space category seats on the lower tier of the aircraft. These are economy class seats with improved characteristics. They are located in the bow of the lower deck. At the same time, in EI-XLM the entire upper deck is represented exclusively by business class seats.

Choosing the best seat on the plane

Nai the best places on a Boeing 400 airliner, rows 1-3 of the upper tier are considered to be. This is where business class is located with comfortable seats and 15.4-inch monitors. The distance between lines in this class is more than one and a half meters. The seats on the 5th line of the upper deck are distinguished by increased convenience. Even though they are economy class, passengers occupying these seats will have plenty of legroom. In addition, increased comfort for upper tier passengers is provided by the presence of 8.9-inch displays.

On the lower deck in some places increased comfort seats are considered to be from line 10 to line 12. The comfort of these seats is due to the fact that the seats are installed in pairs - 2 chairs are more comfortable than 3 or 4. These seats are intended for passengers with children. This is where the mounts for baby bassinets are installed.

You should know! On the lower deck, the seat count starts from the 10th line.

The layout of the lower deck allows us to consider the best seats of this vessel to be seats E and F in rows 17-19. Paired seating is also used in these seats. You can also note 31 lines, which are characterized by a lot of free space. However, it is due to the fact that there is a bathroom nearby. In addition, seat 31C is located directly next to the stairs from the upper tier.

In the EI-XLM modification, the best seats include lines 1 to 4. This is where the Super Space category seats are located.

Bad places: how not to make a mistake

It's no secret that the double-decker Boeing 747 400 has several bad seats that can significantly ruin the flight experience. First of all, it is worth noting the places in line 29. In this row, the seat backs do not recline due to the proximity to the emergency exit and the bathroom. The same goes for the 19th line. Seats A, D, E and L do not recline. The remaining seats in this row, although postponed, have significant limitations.

Holders of tickets for seat C on lines 32-34 will feel significant discomfort due to the constant movement of other passengers. This is due to the fact that these seats are located in close proximity to the stairs leading to the second floor. Passengers traveling in seats in rows 43, 54, 70 and 71 will not have the best flight experience. Due to the close proximity of emergency exits, the seats in these places cannot be transformed. When studying the location of seats on this plane, it is also worth noting that not the most the best option there will be rows located near the bathrooms (rows 20-22, 27-29, 41-46 and 69-71).

On the upper deck, it would be a mistake to buy tickets in the last row. The main disadvantage of this line is the proximity of the toilet. In addition, there is a staircase to the lower deck nearby.

Before purchasing a ticket for a flight operated by Boeing 747 400, passengers should pay attention to several very important nuances:

  • You should not buy tickets for seats located close to service areas. There are always queues here, which creates discomfort and unnecessary noise.
  • If you are planning a long flight, you should not buy tickets for seats that do not have reclining seats.
  • Passengers with small children should buy tickets at bow airplane. But for those who do not want to hear children’s crying and noise, on the contrary, it is not recommended to purchase tickets in this part of the ship.
  • For afternoon and morning flights, it is worth buying tickets for seats near the window.
  • Seats D and G, located in the middle of the cabin, are uncomfortable due to the constant movement of passengers and flight attendants.

Watch a video about flying on a Boeing 747-400 Russia

The Boeing 747 is a passenger aircraft that until recently ranked first in the world in size (currently inferior to the Airbus A380). It has an upper and lower cabin, and the upper deck is much shorter than the lower one, due to which the silhouette is absolutely recognizable: it cannot be confused with any other aircraft. The aircraft is a long-haul aircraft.

Jumbo Jet holds the record for carrying passengers simultaneously. During the war in Ethiopia, on May 24, 1991, 1,122 Ethiopian Jews were evacuated in one plane flight to Israel, out of a design capacity of 480 people.

History of the development of the Boeing 747 passenger aircraft

In the mid-1960s, due to an increase in passenger traffic and the development of jet aviation, a demand arose for long-range aircraft with increased passenger capacity. At that time, the world was flying mainly first-generation jet aircraft, such as the Boeing 707, Tu-104 and others.

However, such aircraft could no longer cope with the load, and the first generation aircraft also had many design and other problems. As a result, Boeing decided to begin developing a new modification of airliners. In 1966, a car was presented to the public, completely different from its predecessors, with a hump on the roof. Initially, they wanted to make the plane double-decker, but due to the lack of experience in producing such aircraft, the look for which the 747 is famous was adopted.

In connection with the entry into the supersonic market passenger aviation, the corporation was quite skeptical about the aircraft. The removal of the cockpit to the upper deck was caused by the considerations that if suddenly the aircraft was not sold, it would quickly be converted into a cargo model, and for this, the cockpit should not interfere with the loading of cargo through the bow ramp, which will be in the truck.

It was believed that the maximum required was 400 aircraft of this type. However, at the moment more than one and a half thousand aircraft have been sold. If it were not for the direct competitor - the A380, the number of aircraft sold would have been even greater. Pratt & Whitney created a turbofan engine specifically for this aircraft - the JT9D. The wing mechanization, “advanced” for those times, was developed, which made it possible to use a heavy side from standard runways (runways).

The production of the Boeing 747 made extensive use of government-owned US Air Force aircraft factories. The law prohibits the involvement of state-owned factories to fulfill commercial orders of other companies. Let us leave this fact without comment.

Description and technical characteristics

The aircraft is a four-engine turbofan low-wing aircraft with a swept wing and one fin (rudder).

Technical characteristics are given in the table:

The most interesting thing about this plane is that you can attach a fifth engine to it. This is used to transport a replacement engine to a remote airfield. The fifth engine is suspended at the root, that is, closer to the fuselage of the left wing. The engine is switched off during flight.

Flight characteristics of the Boeing 747

Interior layout and seating arrangement

Business class cabin

If you want to experience something unprecedented and ride on the upper deck of a Boeing 747, you should definitely take business class. It will be in the bow of the “hump” (upper deck). In our country, only Rossiya Airlines transports passengers on Boeing 747-400 aircraft. Let's look at the configuration of passenger seats using this airline as an example. The first three rows of the upper deck are business lounge seats. These are the most best places. Comfortable seats that almost convert into a bed, large entertainment system monitors, passenger kits, delicious food - everything is available to business class ticket holders.

Economy class cabin

The remaining part of the upper deck and the entire lower deck is the realm of economy class. The best seats in economy are considered to be the seats in the first row after the business class cabin, since there is only a thin partition between the cabins and there will be much more legroom than in the middle rows.

Very good seats in the first rows of the lower deck. There are two, not three, places nearby, which is also much more convenient. The airline also recommends front row seats. These are rows 20, 31, 44, 55. They are positioned as seats with increased legroom.

Traditionally, the bad places are near the toilets, where passengers will constantly pass by you. Often in these rows the seat back does not recline. This must be taken into account when choosing places to fly.

Flight safety

Statistics total 63 dead plane in accidents and disasters. The total death toll is 3,746 people. But the record both in the history of the 747 and in all aviation is held by the disaster that occurred in the resort of Tenerife in 1977. In this terrible incident, due to misunderstanding between pilots and dispatchers, runway Two Boeing 747s collided. The number of victims was 583 people.

Advantages and disadvantages of Boeing

The Boeing 747 is one of the best long-haul aircraft in the world. Although now it is actively stepping on its heels, and even overtaking Airbus, the 747 confidently holds its own. For example, cargo sides have very good load-carrying capacity. It is not for nothing that many aircraft are used in the cargo version. In the cargo version, it is very convenient to transport oversized cargo due to the wide fuselage.

In general, the Boeing 747 is a very durable and unpretentious machine, which is why it enjoys well-deserved love among many airlines around the world. Some experts call the Boeing 747 the safest type of aircraft (aircraft) based on the number of accidents.

Main Boeing 747 models

During production, Boeing has developed many models of this type of aircraft.

Boeing 747-100

The first type of Boeing 747 was the 747-100 modification. A total of 250 aircraft of this type were manufactured and sent to customers, taking into account the SP, SR and B variations. The last aircraft, the 747-100, entered service with the operator in 1986. The plane experienced the joy of flight for the first time in February 1969, and already on January 1, 1970, the first passengers took to the skies on the new plane. After finishing its passenger service, some aircraft were converted to freighter 747-100(SF).

Boeing 747-100SR

The Boeing 747-100SR (Short Range) was created for short-haul lines. Almost all the ships went to Japan. A total of 29 aircraft of this modification were produced. By reducing the volume of fuel tanks and, accordingly, the weight of the aircraft, it was possible to increase the number of people transported on one flight. In total, this modification could transport up to 550 people at a time. Oddly enough, Japan became the main customer of the aircraft. The ships were often used on domestic flights.

Boeing 747-100SP

Aircraft of this model (Special Performance - the best characteristics) began to be produced in 1976 in the wake of competition with McDonnel Douglas and Lockheed Corporation. A total of 45 aircraft were produced. The aircraft's fuselage was changed (shortened), the keel was enlarged, and the wings were changed. The plane could transport up to 220 people over a distance of up to 10,500 km. With a plan of 200 aircraft, the corporation received orders for only 45 aircraft.

Boeing 747-200

Deliveries began in 1971. The engines were modernized, which developed more power, which increased the flight range. The modification turned out to be so successful that on its basis three air command posts (air command posts) of the US Army and two “Air Force No. 1” were created for flights of American presidents.

The aircraft was supplied in three versions:

  • 200V - passenger version;
  • 200C - could carry either passengers or cargo;
  • 200F(Frightener) - cargo;
  • The 747-200M Combi allowed cargo and passengers to be accommodated simultaneously by installing quick-release bulkheads in the cabin.

Boeing 747-300

After unsuccessful attempt develop a three-engine model 747, index 300 moved to a new modification of the 1980 model. By increasing the upper deck, it became possible to transport an increased number of passengers. Like the 747-200, the 300 featured the 747-300M (combi) and 747-300SR (short-haul) variants. The aircraft had a flight range of 12,400 km.

Boeing 747-400

The most frequently purchased model by airlines is the 747-400. This model has added Winglets - vertical wingtips, which improve the efficiency of the aircraft. During the design of this modification, the cockpit was changed, which made it possible to control the aircraft with the help of two crew members, instead of three pilots previously. Also launched into series are the 747-400M (combi), 747-400F and 747-400SF (freight).

A variant of the 747-400ER was created - an aircraft with an increased flight range.

Boeing 747-8

The 747-8 variant is the third generation of Boeing 747 aircraft. Production begins at the beginning of 2010. The plane received an extended fuselage. According to calculations, this model provides 10% more space per passenger and 11% less fuel consumption. The wings have also been redesigned. Due to the better wing profile obtained due to the use of composite materials, redesigned winglets (wing tips), improved avionics, control systems, etc., the aircraft has improved economic performance. A total of 2 modifications were made - 747-8F Freighter and 747-8I Intercontinental (passenger version). Currently in the United States, two 747-8I aircraft are being reconstructed to transport the US President, replacing the two existing 747-400 presidential pool aircraft.

Boeing 747 LCF Dreamlifter

Since the start of deliveries of the Boeing 787 aircraft, it became clear that parts of this aircraft, which were supplied by third-party contractors, must somehow be delivered to the assembly plant. Delivery of a set of wings from Japan by sea lasted 30 days.

To speed up the aircraft assembly process, in 2003 the Boeing Corporation announced the development of an air truck with increased cargo space. The 747 Large Cargo Freighter was developed for this purpose. Despite the fact that the 747LCF began operating its flights in mid-2016, the Federal Administration civil aviation The US issued an airworthiness certificate for the 747LCF on June 2, 2007.

By analogy with the Boeing 787 Dreamliner, the aircraft was named Dreamlifter. Upon receipt of the aircraft's airworthiness certificate, the 747LCF cargo flights were partially counted as test flights.

The plane, nicknamed the baby elephant (Jumbo is the name of the baby elephant from the Disney cartoon), has its own unique, recognizable face and some kind of romantic flair. I think that every passenger will be interested in flying on such an aircraft.

If you have any questions, leave them in the comments below the article. We or our visitors will be happy to answer them

When getting ready to travel and anticipating a lot of impressions, you want to start your vacation in the cabin of the airliner. This is realistic if the flight is made onBoeing747-400. The cabin layout will help you choose the best seats, taking which you will experience the magical feeling of flying.

Some historical facts

A powerful and externally heavy machine with a length of more than 70 meters seems clumsy and slow on the ground. A misleading impression. Having made its first flight in the late eighties of the last century, it revolutionized air travel, embodying all the best of that time. The latest technologies have allowed pilots to make the longest flights (more than 13 thousand km) in the most equipped cabins of the 747-400 airliner. The interior layout, of course, is the most thoughtful, making it possible to exceed the maximum existing passenger capacity and transport about 600 people simultaneously with a cruising speed of more than 900 km/h.

Having spent some time at the zenith of fame, the manufacturer of the most popular modification of the Boeing family of aircraft began to lose ground to competitors. More economical cars have appeared on the market. Production of the 700-400 series aircraft ended in 2007, but they are still widely operated by many airlines around the world.

From Sheremetyevo to Vnukovo

The Russian company Transaero, the only one with twenty passenger cars of this class in its fleet, was one of the leading carriers in the country until the fall of 2015. After the declared bankruptcy, some of the cars were acquired by the Aeroflot group for a subsidiary. Rossiya Airlines took over route network and several Transaero 747-400 airliners. The cabin layout provided for three seating options; 447, 461 and 522 people could be invited on board, respectively. More than half of the cars were equipped with the latter option.

Today Rossiya Airlines, like the previous owner, is the only owner of aircraft of this type in the country. The operating life of the machines is from 15 to 18 years. Its head base is located at Pulkovo Airport (St. Petersburg), and its hub airfield is in Vnukovo.

Selecting a seat

For the convenience of passengers, the layout of the Transaero cabin remained unchanged for the new owner of the Boeing 747-400 aircraft.

Preparing for a flight in advance involves studying the location seats and choosing the most comfortable one for you. Most often you have to be content with your own experience, choosing a seat at the front or back of the plane, by the window or next to the aisle. You are looking for an opportunity to stretch your legs, but away from the toilet. If the flight is only a couple of hours, then it almost doesn't matter. But during a multi-hour flight, and it is on such routes that a giant airliner is used, you want to get comfortable in the cabin.

"Boeing 747-400". Interior layout

Let's take a closer look. A spacious six-meter-diameter cabin with a standard design for 522 people is located on two floors of a Boeing 747-400 aircraft. The layout of the Transaero cabin, saved in the layout, has changed the numbering of the rows. In order not to get confused when choosing a comfortable seat, it is better for the buyer to focus on the updated scheme of Rossiya Airlines.

In terms of comfort, the seat configuration corresponds to two levels: business and economy class.

Business class seats

These seats are found on the second level of all 747-400 aircraft. The layout of the Transaero cabin (the best seats are marked) highlights 12 seats installed in the bow of the aircraft. "Russia" saved their location.

The seats are equipped to allow you to work and relax during the flight with a high degree of comfort. Wide seats, a large backrest angle, the gap between the seats increased to one and a half meters, and the presence of a built-in display will satisfy the discerning passenger. The seats are installed in two rows of two seats.

Increased economy

This is the term the owner uses to describe the economy seats located immediately behind the business lounge. Due to their isolation, the definition of “convenient” can easily be attributed to them. And the most comfortable row in this groupN121 of the six seats separate business and economy rows on the Boeing 747-400. The layout of the cabin, the best seats of which are sold much cheaper than business class tickets, indicates the peculiarity of its position. Separated from the VIP salon by a curtain, it has a large, free space in front of it.

The exception in this group is the last row. The three seats on the left side of the aircraft in row 124 are located next to the stairs, and the seats in row 125 are located close to the toilet.

All seats in the cabin are equipped with comfortable seats with backrests reclining 60 degrees, displays and the proximity of flight attendants add comfort and confidence to passengers of this group on the Boeing 747-400 aircraft. Transaero, whose cabin layout included a larger number of business-level seats in some aircraft, deliberately reduced passenger capacity. “Russia” retained these options as well.

Economy class

Equipped with the same comfort as the higher economy, they cost slightly less. The convenience of these places is determined by the proximity of emergency exits and toilets.

The gap between seats of 75-90 cm is quite sufficient for a comfortable flight. Seats of this level of comfort occupy the entire salon of the first floor and number about 470 seats.

The best seats on the plane (conclusion)

Based on the above, we can confidently name groups of seats with additional comfort with a passenger capacity of 522 people on a 747-400 aircraft. The interior diagram states that these are the seats:

  • business class;
  • economy option on the second floor (see exceptions);
  • in the nose of the aircraft;
  • in the forefront;
  • comfortSpace+ with extra space in front of the chair.

To ensure you get the seat you like on the plane, go through check-in a day before your flight, securing a comfortable seat location for yourself.

Special projects of "Russia"

Some time ago, Rossiya Airlines, a subsidiary of Aeroflot PJSC, repainted its fleet aircraft in an elegant livery consisting of red turbine blades on a white background.

Last year, a funny plane appeared in the airline's flock of cars in an atypical coloring, with a tiger's face painted on the nose. "Tigrolet" is the personification of the community of "Russia" and the Amur Tiger Center. This honor was given to the Boeing 747-400, the interior diagram of which is discussed above. Along with all the company's aircraft, it flies according to schedule.

Let's consider the situation using the example of a Boeing 747-400 cabin layout, three-class
airliner of the LuftHansa company with 344 seats and we will still decide what are the best seats in the cabin in the Boeing 740. Seats in the 1st and 9th rows have the advantages of empty
spaces in front of the seats. The seat on the 25th row is not so comfortable,
because conversations and noise from the neighbor can be heard
economy class. The 28th row seats located immediately behind the partition are not so
comfortable as standard.

Row 31 is located next to the emergency exit and toilet. Row 32 has the advantage of legroom or more
free movement. Even despite the close location
toilet, recommended due to freedom of movement. Row 42 is also not recommended, similar to row 28. Row 43 has limited legroom.

Row 56 is located in the rear, toilets are located nearby, and seats
do not recline or have a restriction.

Regarding business class, one thing can be said, all seats
good ones.

The advantage of window seats is that you can
look at the picture overboard. The neighbors who get up don't bother me, but
To stand up yourself, you need to disturb the entire row.

The seats located in the middle are the most relaxing.

The location of the seats near the aisle gives the advantage of free
exit, but there may be increased anxiety from passing and
flight attendants.

Row 4 has the same advantages and disadvantages.

These small rules can help you decide on places.

The Boeing 747 400 is a double-decker jet passenger aircraft designed to seat 500 people. The airliner flies at a distance of up to 14,000 kilometers. The domestic airline “Russia” uses the Boeing 744, the same brand as the 747. Don’t worry if the ticket shows one number, but a different model is flying. They are completely identical, only the numbering is different.

How the plane came to be

A variation of the airliner was created on the basis of the 300 model. The development of a new variation was necessary because the previous one did not implement all the ideas of the Boeing company. We created a new type of aircraft, characterized by low fuel consumption, flying over longer distances, with an increased comfort cabin, reducing operating costs by 10 percent. The new airliner began to be developed in 1985, three years later it was already tested in flight and received orders for one hundred units.

At first the company thought of creating a cargo airliner, but later they decided that the Boeing 747 was optimal for transporting passengers. The ship officially took off for the first time on April 29, 1988. The plane hovered in the air for over two hours. After testing, it was given the status of “fit for flight.” A year later the plane was sold to the airline North wind, two weeks later he was already flying with the first passengers.

Characteristics of the Boeing 747

The main characteristics of the Boeing 747 400 of Russia Airlines:

  • It reaches a length of 79.7 meters;
  • The wings have a span of 64.4 meters;
  • The plane reaches a height of 19.4 meters;
  • Wing area 541.2 square meters;
  • Take-off weight does not exceed 396,300 kilograms;
  • The empty plane weighs 181,120 kilograms;
  • The speed of the airliner reaches 920 kilometers per hour;
  • Rise to a height of 13,750 meters;
  • For a take-off run you need 3,020 meters;
  • The economy class cabin has 660 seats;
  • In the modification of two classes (economy and business) there are 524 seats;
  • The three-class aircraft has 416 seats;
  • The width of the cabin reaches 6.13 meters.

Dimensions for the cockpit are standard for each model. There is no need to relearn when transferring to the next modification of the 747. Flight fv5871 flies to 120 destinations.

Important! The best seats are in the business class cabin.

The Russia company acquired nine aircraft of this brand. Now you can book a ticket for a flight on a double-decker plane here.

Location of seats on the plane

Boeing 747 400 AK Russia: interior diagram

The plane has two decks, dividing it into business and economy class. In the latter, there is less than 90 cm between the seats. The chair cannot be unfolded, only reclined 60 degrees. All seats have a folding table.

On the 2nd floor there is a business class where the seats fold out like a bed. This is possible thanks to the large distance between the seats. In business class, passengers are offered an individual menu, access to Wi-Fi and drinks absolutely free.

The peculiarity of the liner is that it is divided into two floors. Economy class is located at the bottom. There are 470 seats, there are 3 seats on the sides near the walls, 4 in the center. There are 2 seats in the tail near the walls of the plane, 4 in the center, and 2 in front near the walls and 3 in the middle.

Rows 1 to 3 represent business class, featuring modern seats with monitors. There is more than 1.5 m between the lines. Row 5 starts on the second floor, economy class. A screen hangs as a partition, allowing this line of passengers to stretch their legs. The seats are considered comfortable. Between the lines in the cabin - 86 centimeters.

Row 9 is the last in economy class. Next is the toilet, then the stairs to the first floor. This causes a negative feeling among the passengers sitting here.

Important! There are three toilets on the ground floor.

One is located at the end of the plane, the other is between 20 and 22, which indicates unpleasant odors in these seats, the third is around 43 and 44, for which tickets are sold out last. There is a dressing room located near 54 and 59, and a kitchen near 31 and 34. Right there, next to 31, there is a descent from the second floor.

Some aircraft configurations include both business and economy class. The best seats are located in the first three rows. Then comes the improved economy class. The upper deck is located in the bow of the Boeing. There are two toilets here. The capacity of the Boeing 747 on the second floor is 41 people, for business class - 12, economy - 29.

For Russia Airlines, the Boeing 747 400 has a cabin layout of two floors, which allows the aircraft to transport a larger number of people.

One of the options is clearly non-standard; there are improved seats for economy class downstairs. They are located in the bow. In this case, there will be only business class on the second floor. You should fly with children on the first floor. Reviews show that these are the best places for them.

Row 71 is the worst, it's the last one.

On the ground floor there is only economy class with 470 seats. Here the distance between the seats is only 78 centimeters. The first rows from 10 to 12 for the letters A, B, H and K are distinguished by increased comfort, since there are two seats each. But passengers with children are sitting nearby, which can cause inconvenience during the flight.

Row 19 is located at the emergency exit. The seat backs in this row do not recline.

From 20 to 22 it is uncomfortable to sit on the outer seats due to the proximity of toilets on both sides, which makes them restless, passengers sitting here will be constantly tense.

29 is next to the emergency exit, so the backrest does not recline, and the toilet is close.

Row 31 has extra legroom. But there is a staircase here that restricts the movements of passengers.

32, 33 and 34 are near the stairs, which causes some inconvenience due to people passing by.

Rows 43, 54, 70 and 71 are located near the escape hatches, so the backrest does not recline or is limited in this regard.

44 and 55 are good places. There is extra legroom, but there are toilets nearby, which is an inconvenience.

67, 68, 69 and 70 are equipped with only two seats near the walls of the aircraft, for couples this unique place, but in the last row 71 the seats do not recline. There is a toilet nearby.

How to choose the best place

The Boeing 747 400 layout shows that the best seats are the first three rows on the second floor. There are comfortable chairs with 15.4-inch diagonal monitors mounted in the backs. There are over one and a half meters between the rows.

The fifth row is the most comfortable; passengers have additional legroom, although this place already belongs to economy class. Here on the second floor, the displays mounted in the backs of economy class seats are 8.9 inches diagonally.

On the ground floor, rows ten to twelve are the best. Here there are two chairs, not three or four, as in other places. It's better to sit here with children. There are cradles installed here where you can put your baby. For other passengers, these seats are not very comfortable, because the child may cry the entire flight.

Important! For the Boeing 747 400, Rossiya Airlines provides for rows starting from number ten on the first floor.

The best seats on the first floor are considered to be the chairs under the letters E and F from the seventeenth to the nineteenth row. There are double seats, which allows you to fly in pairs here. 31 is characterized by large legroom, but behind it there is a toilet, which makes it inconvenient, because passengers can touch the elbows of those seated and step on their feet. Another minus is that there is a staircase leading to the second floor, which also causes inconvenience.

Important! The best seats on the first floor are rows 1-4.

For Russia Airlines, the B747 4 represents an aircraft of increased comfort, since it is two-story, separating business class from economy class with a staircase.

Where are the bad places?

It's important to know where the worst places are so you don't accidentally buy a ticket for them. The Rossiya plane has such seats, they spoil all the good impressions of the flight.

In row 29, the backrests of the seats do not recline, as there is an emergency exit and a toilet nearby. Same problem in row 19. Seats A, D, E and L also cannot be folded out.

Those sitting on the seat under the letter C in rows 32, 33 and 34 will feel uncomfortable, as passengers will constantly walk past them. There are stairs nearby, along which people regularly walk up and down.

Travelers who bought tickets for rows 43, 54, 79 and 71 will be unhappy with the flight. There are emergency exits nearby, so the seats do not recline.

Important! Seats in lines 20 to 22, 27 to 29, 41 to 46 and 69 to 71 are located near the toilet. Here a queue of passengers forms, additional noise from their conversations and flushing of the tank.

On the second floor you should not buy a ticket for the last line. There is a toilet nearby, where passengers will constantly go, creating inconvenience for those sitting, there is also a staircase along which people go up and down while walking.

General rules for choosing a good place

Each passenger must take into account several important points before buying a plane ticket for Russia.

  • There is no need to buy a ticket for seats near the service premises. People constantly accumulate here, creating a queue, which leads to additional noise and discomfort, as passengers will be jostled and distracted from relaxation during the flight.
  • Please note that there are seats where the backrest does not recline. For short-haul flights this will not create any difficulties, but during a multi-hour flight the back becomes very stiff and the passenger will experience great inconvenience because of this.
  • Children should sit in the front; there are bassinets for babies. For those who don’t want to hear a child crying for the entire flight or see children playing around, it’s better to buy tickets to the back of the plane.
  • If the flight is carried out during the day, when it is light, it is possible to sit near the window to observe the beautiful scenery.
  • There is no need to buy tickets for seats with the letters D and G. Flight attendants and other passengers constantly walk past them, touching those sitting, preventing them from resting, stepping on their feet and creating noise.

You should not buy tickets without first deciding on a seat, so that you don’t have to worry about the entire flight.
