There are situations when in Cyprus you need to get from one city to another. More often this is due to the need to get from the airport to the hotel. But there are also tourists who do not like to sit in one place and travel all over the country. Whatever the reasons, travelers will certainly benefit from information about the distances between cities in Cyprus and how to get from one place to another.

How many km from Larnaca to Paphos?

The distance between these cities is not that great, about 130 km. This is why the Larnaca - Paphos route is popular among tourists. They set off on the road from one city to another most often for two reasons:

  • transfer to and from the airport,
  • independent or organized excursion.

Both Paphos and Larnaca have international airports. And if you need to get to these resorts, of course, you need to look for plane tickets to the corresponding place. But there are situations when it is more convenient to buy a ticket, for example, to Larnaca, and then get to Paphos, and vice versa. The first case is not so rare, because Larnaca airport is larger and there are more flights offered there.

Also, traveling the distance from Larnaca to Paphos will be necessary for tourists who want to see interesting places throughout Cyprus. And there are a lot of such places on the island. Cyprus has a rich historical past, there are many ancient buildings and temples. The island also has beautiful nature: bays, mountains, lush vegetation. So excursions in a group or independent trips around Cyprus will be educational and impressive.

How to get there?

The railway service in Cyprus is not particularly developed. From Larnaca to Paphos can only be reached by road. There are several ways:

  • bus,
  • Taxi,
  • rented car.

Larnaca Paphos bus is the most cheap way get from the airport to Paphos, but it has some disadvantages. The bus stop is located at the exit of Larnaca Airport and transport runs almost hourly. So tourists do not face the problem of long waits. But this bus will only take travelers to Limassol, and there they will have to change to another one. Although there should be no problems with transfers either, because the buses stop in one place, at the final station. In Paphos, the intercity bus drops off passengers at only three stops. So up to the desired hotel you will have to either walk or look for other transport. If you agree to transfers and are not afraid to walk with your suitcase, choose the bus. This will help you save a lot!

It is much more pleasant to cover the distance between Larnaca and Paphos by taxi. No transfers, travel on the highway! And from the car window you can admire the landscapes of Cyprus. You can order a taxi in advance (it’s more convenient to do this via the Internet) or take it at the airport. The parking lot is located right at the exit; they are easy to recognize by the signs on the roof. All taxis in Cyprus are official and drivers must turn on the meter. Carriers have different tariffs, so the price per trip may vary.

Many tourists prefer to rent a car to move around the country freely. This way you can see a lot of interesting things and not depend on group excursions. Car rental is available right at Larnaca Airport. A driver's license is required and certain conditions must be met:

  • age 21 years,
  • driving experience from 1 year,
  • For young drivers, rental companies may increase rental prices.

By renting a car at Larnaca Airport, you can easily get to Paphos. And then throughout your vacation you will be free to move wherever you want, and return the car again at the airport before departure.

How long it takes to travel from Larnaca to Paphos depends on the type of transport. By taxi with an experienced driver it will take one and a half hours. In a rented car, the trip will most likely be longer. Firstly, you will need to navigate in unfamiliar terrain. And secondly, you might want to make stops at interesting places along the way.

The longest journey will be by bus. Waiting for a flight, stopover, transfer – all this will take at least two and a half hours. Although the cost of the trip will be several times lower than by ordering a taxi.

If you need to get from Larnaca to Paphos or back, you can do it in a way that suits you in terms of price and time. Choose the appropriate option!

If you are planning your holiday in Limassol or Paphos, do not be put off by the distance to these cities from Larnaca Airport. Of course, you can take a taxi, paying a decent amount (to Paphos - from 110 euros), or you can do what we did - get there on your own. Yes, it will take 3 times longer, but it will be 10 times cheaper! In my opinion, the advantages are obvious.

By the way, if you need inexpensive but decent accommodation, I advise you to use the search for cheap hotels in Paphos, as well as in Limassol.

So, having gone through customs control and picked up our suitcases, at the exit from the arrivals area (where the greeters are waiting), we turn left and walk all the way until we come across a counter where bus tickets are sold. You will need the Limassol Airport Express bus. As of April 2015, tickets cost €9 per person, including luggage. The bus schedule can be viewed on the carrier’s website (http://limassolairportexpress.eu). Buses run approximately every hour and an hour and a half.

Right there, near the counter, is the terminal exit door. Behind it, literally a few meters away, is the bus station. The first stop is the Limassol Airport Express bus. Travel time to Limassol will take approximately 50 minutes. You will need to get off at the final stop – Agios Georgios Havouzas. This small bus station is next to the Church of St. George. At the station itself there is a small cafe where they sell, in particular, Cypriot coffee for 1 euro, and most importantly - free Wi-Fi.

If you need Limassol, then you are in the right place. If the final destination is Paphos, you need to transfer to the Intercity Buses bus. His stop is right here, you just need to wait. Tickets from the driver, fare - 4 euros per person, including luggage. The schedule can be viewed on the carrier’s website (http://www.intercity-buses.com). Buses run on average once an hour, but may be late. For example, when we arrived at the station, our bus arrived 40 minutes behind schedule. But this is rather the exception than the rule.

From Limassol to Paphos it takes about the same 50 minutes. But the long wait is compensated beautiful views from the bus window (I recommend sitting in the left row of the bus). The buses themselves - both Limassol Airport Express and Intercity Buses - are very comfortable, with comfortable seats and even footrests.

The Intercity Buses bus makes three stops in Paphos, all of which are listed on the website and at the Agios Georgios Havouzas stop. Since most tourists head to the so-called. Lower Paphos (Kato Paphos), where most of the hotels, shops, restaurants and attractions are located, I recommend that you get off at the final stop - the Karavella bus station. Here you can transfer to city bus No. 618 (runs every half hour), which will take you 10-15 minutes to the final stop - bus station, near the port of Paphos, right on the waterfront. Then you can either walk to the desired hotel/apartment, or transfer to another city bus - depending on where exactly you need to go.

It is worth remembering that the entrance to city buses is through the front doors, tickets are purchased from the driver - the fare is 1.5 euros, and in order to get off at the desired stop, you need to let the driver know about this by pressing the bell button inside the bus.

You can take a taxi from the Karavella station, which will take you right to your doorstep, and don’t bother transferring to buses. This pleasure will cost approximately 10 euros.

As you can see, the trip to Paphos cost us only 13 euros per person (not counting city buses). Taking into account waits at stops, travel time from the airport will take about 3-4 hours. A little tedious, but very cheap.

And returning to the topic of Larnaca Airport - many people are interested in whether there are ATMs at the airport? I answer: there are two – “Bank of Cyprus”, they are located in front of the exit from the arrivals area, behind the baggage carousel, standing next to each other. ATMs in Cyprus only dispense euros and may have different dispensing limits, so if the ATM does not dispense the desired amount, try reducing it.

Pathos – luxury resort, located in the southwestern part of Cyprus. Although the city has own airport, most international flights arrive at the airport in Larnaca. The distance between these points is 130 km. You can only travel around the island by car, so to get from Larnaca Airport to Paphos you will have to use local services.

When boarding, you must make sure that the driver turns on the meter; it will already show the amount of 3.4 € (at night the rate is 1 € higher).
