Those who want to save money can eat at local taverns, which can be found in Klong Chao village near the stadium. Lunch for one here will cost only $2-3. There is always fresh food here, the menu includes soups, fried pork and chicken, fish and seafood, salads and rice, and local desserts. If you don't share the Thai love for fiery spices, ask for it to be cooked “no spice.”
Along the main road of Koh Kuda, leading through the island from north to south, there are small shops and stalls where you can buy local fruit inexpensively.
Transport
There is no public transport, including taxis, on the island of Ko Kood. Tourists have the following travel options:
- On foot, fortunately the distances on the island are small, and if you don’t set a goal to explore it completely, then everything you need for comfortable rest can be found within walking distance.
- By rented transport. Bicycle rental will cost $6/day, motorcycle rental – $9, car rental – from $36. Rent vehicle You can do it at your hotel or at special rental points. In many hotels, the cost of renting a motorbike is included in the price of your stay.
- Ask someone for a ride local residents. Although they don’t provide transportation here, sometimes you can negotiate.
There is only one gas station on the island, near the Khlon Hin Dam pier. You can buy gasoline for refueling in special bottles at the market or in stores, but it will cost more.

Despite the fact that the tourism business on the island of Koh Kood is at the very beginning of its development, there are enough places for tourists to stay. Many hotels of different price categories and very inexpensive guesthouses offer their services. However, during the high season in Ko Kood (Thailand), hotels are almost completely occupied. When planning a trip from November to April, you need to make hotel reservations several months in advance.
The cost of living in high season is from $30/day for a double bungalow near the beach with a bathroom, a refrigerator, but without air conditioning (with a fan). Beaches of the island
Most of the coastline of Koh Kuda is suitable for swimming. Here you can find deserted wild rocky beaches and civilized sandy ones, with hotels, cafes and bars located nearby. General features characterizing the beaches of Koh Kuda:
- As a rule, the shore and bottom are sandy.
- Entrances to the sea are flat and shallow everywhere, this is especially noticeable during low tides.
- Throughout the season, the sea water is warm, clear and calm, without waves.
- Sun loungers are rare, and there are no umbrellas at all. But, thanks to the loose and clean sand and the large number of trees, they are not really needed. Hotel guests can use hotel sun loungers.
- There are no water activities - jet skis, bananas, etc. You can only sit in a cafe or bar.
- Almost every beach has a pier, but there are no longtails and speedboats that plague tourists in other resorts in Thailand.
- They are always sparsely crowded and admission is free.
Among the public beaches of Koh Kuda, the best are Bang Bao (Siam Beach), Ao Tapao and Klong Chao. It successfully combines comfortable natural conditions with proximity to civilization - large hotels, shops, cafes.
Ao Tapao Beach is one of the largest and most popular on the island of Koh Kood (Thailand), its photo can be seen in many advertising brochures. Its length is about 0.5 km. On the western side it is limited by a long pier, on the eastern side by a rocky part, behind which a wild beach begins.

Klong Chao
Klong Chao – central beach Ko Kuda is rightfully considered the best on the island. It is located near the road, in the busiest area, where the most popular hotels are concentrated and the infrastructure is most developed.
Klong Chao Beach has the most white sand, pleasant entrance to the sea, clean water, lack of waves, and most importantly - not as shallow as on other beaches in Ko Kood. Even at low tide you can swim here, although not close to the shore. It's very beautiful views, in Ko Kood (Thailand) the photos turn out amazing.
Fashionable hotels stretch along the coast; cheaper hotels are located on the second line, within walking distance from the beach. There are accommodations here to suit every budget. During the season it gets quite crowded, especially in the evening.
Klong Chao is the longest beach in Koh Kuda. Here you can walk for a long time, enjoying the beautiful sea views. There are numerous bars and cafes along the shore.
Bang Bao Beach is also called Siam Beach, thanks to the Siam Hotel located here. Beach Resort. Bang Bao is one of the quietest and most peaceful beaches on the island. The length of the swimming area is about 0.4 km. In the middle of the beach there is a pier where cargo ships sometimes moor.
Siami Beach has white sand, the sea is calm and clean, but at low tide it is too shallow. There are many low palm trees growing on the shore, providing shade throughout the day. This is a calm, uncrowded and clean place with beautiful nature and a warm, shallow sea - an ideal holiday option for families with small children.
Weather and climate
The island of Koh Kood (Thailand) is located in the subequatorial climate zone; the sea water temperature here does not fall below +26°C, so you can swim on its coast all year round.
From May to October, as throughout Thailand, the rainy season lasts and the hottest weather is observed. The thermometer during this period can rise to +34-36°C. Due to frequent rains, the air is saturated with moisture, and the sky is often overcast.
In May-September, tourist life on the island comes to a standstill, hotels become empty, some even close. But hot weather is not an obstacle to a beach holiday, and it does not rain all the time; as a rule, in this climate it is fleeting. Therefore, people who can tolerate the heat well can have a great rest in Ko Kood during the low season, especially since prices during this period are significantly reduced.
From November to April, the heat subsides, the air temperature stays at +28-30°C, precipitation becomes rarer, and the days become sunny. This season on the island of Koh Kood is considered high, tourist activity during this period increases, and prices rise. It is recommended to book hotel rooms in advance during this time. Peak attendance occurs in February and March, when the air temperature is most comfortable for swimming, and low tides occur mainly at night.
How to get to Koh Kood from Pattaya and Bangkok
There is no other way to Koh Kood Thailand than to get here by water transport– by high-speed ferry, boat or catamaran. Vessels depart for Koh Kood from the Laem Ngop and Laem Sok piers in Trat province, located on the Thai mainland near the border with Cambodia.
From Bangkok
The most convenient way to get to Koh Kood from Bangkok is by ordering a transfer on the website 12go.asia/ru/travel/bangkok/koh-kood. The service includes a minibus ride to Laem Sok Pier in Trat Province and a high-speed ferry ride from there to Koh Kood. You can additionally order a transfer to the hotel.
At the appointed time, the minibus picks up passengers and takes them 7 hours to the Laem Sok pier at the time of the ferry departure. The high-speed ferry departs daily at 1:30 pm and arrives in Ko Kood an hour later. The cost of travel by minibus is $150 per car; it is more profitable to order a minibus for a group. Ferry tickets cost $15 per person.
From Pattaya

There is an excellent road across the island - from Ao Salad in the north to Ao Yai in the south, so almost all hotels can be reached along this road (although expensive and flat, in general, sometimes quite hilly and broken in places).
Ko Kut is primarily visited mainly by organized tours, although in recent years “individual” tourists have been coming here. To get around the island, rent a motorcycle or bicycle or ride a songthaew (songthaew, a mini-truck), however, exploring the beaches and beauties of the island with this transport is a little more tedious, but believe me, it is worth the effort.
There will be no problems with accommodation on the island. Budget options plenty - look at hotels near Khlong Chao Beach. But, of course, not a beach bungalow for 250 baht. If you still want to live right on the beach, you will have to pay, perhaps a little more, but that's the point - to live on the beach, in this little paradise. The hotels here, in general, are still inexpensive “bedroom accommodations” for tourist groups, although for those who are used to spending more and living more comfortably, there are very nice places on the island. 
Can we recommend the bungalow at the top of the hill, complex "Duplex Bungalows", - amazing value for money, plus a luxurious sea view from the terrace. 
Most of the eateries, cafes, bars and shops of interest to tourists are located in the Klong Chao area, but most hotels have their own restaurant, so this should not be a problem. Ko Kut is definitely not a party place. Nightlife not here - although, several places on the island (bars, I mean) are open until late, although there are not very many people there, and, quite likely, you will sit there in splendid isolation. That's not why people come here, though. 
Like most neighboring islands, Ko Kut is a seasonal place. And, although many hotels have been operating in recent years all year round, most cafes, restaurants and bars are closed. Besides, why go there at this time? The weather may not be pleasant at all; the terrible monsoons from May to October can ruin the whole impression of the paradise island. 
During the high season, and especially at Christmas, New Year and Songkran (Thai New Year, celebrated from April 13 to April 19), the island becomes very busy - for these weeks it is better to book a hotel in advance if you do not want to wander around the island from bungalow to bungalow in search of available accommodation.
By the way, as far as I know, there are no ATMs on the island (although you can still pay by card in hotels), so come with cash to avoid getting into trouble.
Internet access via 3G is quite possible, although with some difficulties. Some hotels have free Wi-Fi, but, unfortunately, it often simply does not work there. There is an internet cafe on the north side of Klong Chao at the Tourist Office.
Southern beaches (Ao Jak, Ao Phrao and Khlong Hin) They are primarily popular with Russian tourist groups from Pattaya. And in general, there is a completely different atmosphere there than on other beaches on the island. Many European tourists, by the way, write with horror that “Russians are wandering around there with vodka and cigarettes.” Nothing surprising! 
Well, walking around the island is a pleasure: massive jungle, unreal waterfalls (although very weak in April), amazing good beaches and clear sea. You can try massages at hotel spas.
Visit restaurant "Happy days restaurant"- you can try German beer and really good Thai food there. You can go to "Pizza & Pasta restaurant", one kilometer north of Klong Chao. At the restaurant Chiang Mai They serve Thai food in very large plates and it's all very cheap! There is also a very nice restaurant "Bartist" on the way to the waterfalls in the same area and several good restaurants along the Klong Chao River, in principle, in any of them you can try “proper” Thai cuisine. Oh yes, take a look at "The Peter Pan Bar"- a bar with a good atmosphere, calm visitors (apparently Russians don’t go there) and cool music.
"The Tawan Eco Bar"- this is, in general, a breakthrough! 
Drinks, food and music are all organized by the owner. If you know how to play a musical instrument, then you'll probably end up sitting down to play with it - that's how cool it is there.
In addition, around the island you can go kayaking and boating, climb mountains, admire waterfalls and lagoons, where you can hide from the sweltering heat.
And, of course, snorkeling and diving – the island can definitely boast of underwater landscapes and fish and corals! 
And in general, the water here is cleaner than, say, on Chang (and the beaches are also cleaner and better). With the exception of Ngam Kho, this beach is so-so.
But Bang Bao- perhaps the most best beach. 
Spacious, clean, with snow-white sand. There are three hotels on this beach, all quite good. Of these, the Siam Beach Resort has the coolest and most convenient beach.
Ao Baan Chao (Ao Baan Chao) suitable for people who prefer to use a variety of services during their vacation, and housing is cheaper here. The two most famous resort Islands, Peter Pan and Tinkerbell are also not very expensive.

Ko Kood or Ko Mak?
The first thing that catches your eye about the differences between these islands is the landscape. If on Ko Mak you can walk around the island for your own pleasure, then on Ko Kood this is difficult, because the area is hilly and even covered with jungle. Ko Kood is larger than Ko Mak, Ko Kood has more small cozy beaches, on which there can be only one hotel. On Koh Mak there are plantations where coconuts and giweya are grown, which you can visit. At the same time, there is no waterfall on Koh Mak like Klong Chao on Koh Kood. So, which of the islands of the archipelago to choose is up to you.Must-sees include Viewpoint Cafe on Klong Chao Beach, Pizza & Pasta Italian Restaurant on the main road (near Ao Noi Hotel) and Baan Phor Coffee next to the Italian restaurant. Ngam Kho Koh Kood's restaurant serves incomparable Thai dishes and fruit shakes.
Despite the popularity of the island, there is not a bank branch here, there is one ATM, but you should still take care of cash in advance. Fortunately, many hotels accept cards for payment. In the Tinkerbell and Peter Pan hotels you can cash out money from your card for a 5% commission.

Ko Kut is an island that is 80% private. All basic infrastructure, accordingly, is located at the hotels. Hotels are scattered along west coast with a center on Klong Chao Beach, where the “social” life of the island is concentrated. The best thing about Ko Kut is that almost all the beaches are uncrowded (at least as of the time of writing this article), because... The island is large, but there are few hotels on the island.
There are no banks or ATMs on the island; only large hotels accept credit cards (stock up on cash). The beaches are snow-white, with absolutely hedonistic beach areas and terraces equipped at hotels. The format of hotel accommodation is mainly beach bungalows. Holidays here are heavenly, but be prepared for the fact that, like on any “hotel” island with a minimum of competition, the quality and price level of offers for bungalows, food, motorbikes, day tours etc. on the island of Koh Kood will be higher than the average for Thailand.
