Airbus is today one of the main suppliers of aircraft around the world. The world-famous company has its own production in several European countries: Germany, France, Spain and the United Kingdom. The headquarters of the aviation giant is located in a small town called Blagnac, which is in the suburbs of Toulouse, France. The staff is about 50 thousand people. The aviation concern produces a full line of aircraft, including an aircraft whose cabin layout can accommodate up to 156 seats (in an enlarged version), depending on the customer’s wishes and configuration.

Airbus A320 family

The most advanced aircraft at that time, released in 1988, it became the first in the world passenger airliner, on which the EDSU (electrical remote control system) was used. Such aircrafts narrow-body design were intended for medium-haul flights and short-haul flights. The main competitor of the family of such winged aircraft is the Boeing 737 series of American-made airliners. The increased demand for such aircraft forced the company's management in February 2008 to open a second production center in Hamburg - Finkenwerder. Until this point, only one site was operating in Toulouse, where the final assembly of the Airbus A319 was carried out. The layout of the aircraft cabin was determined by the Airbus model. The smallest of this class, the A318, could carry a maximum of 138 people, and this was when configured in one class (Economy Y).

Shortened brother

The industrial line of medium-haul narrow-body aircraft also includes a shortened version of the 320 - model. The cabin layout of such an aircraft is shortened by two rows of passenger seats due to a shorter fuselage. The basic variation of the model is designed to carry 116 passengers, however, at the request of the customer (airline), passenger cabins can be configured individually. The future operator himself chooses the number of cabin classes, their status and the distances between adjacent seats from the recommended range proposed by the manufacturer. Airbus A319 can be composed of three classes of cabins: first, business and economy. In the most economical option, when the car is equipped with a single economy class cabin, 156 people can fly on board an Airbus A319 at a time. The interior layout with this configuration will have minimal distances between adjacent rows of seats, 28-30 centimeters (about 11 inches).

Where are the best places?

The standard Airbus A319 with the basic Y economy class configuration for 156 seats has 26 rows, with three shared seats on the sides of the central aisle (six seats per row). Without a doubt the best seats on the plane they are in the first row. Without seats in front and with increased legroom, the potential of such seats has been appreciated by many, if not almost all, air carriers that sell reservations for them for a certain amount of money. It is currently very difficult to find an airline that does not charge extra for booking such seats on an Airbus A319. The interior layout of this aircraft is designed in such a way that these are the only best places in the cabin, not counting those located at the emergency exits, where not all groups of air passengers are allowed to board.

Are you feeling cold?

Sitting in the first row is very comfortable, even despite the proximity of the kitchen and toilets next to the cockpit. But even here there are some passengers who complain that seat “1A” is quite cool, unlike other seats in the first row. In fact, that's how it is. If you look at the diagram of the aircraft's air ducts, you can find almost above this place, a little closer to the main exit, an aircraft air handling unit with a heat exchanger unit, which is responsible for creating the climate in the Airbus A319. The interior layout is designed in such a way that the distribution of cooled air through the deflector grilles starts from here, which may cause some discomfort to passengers sitting in seat “1A”.

At the emergency exit

What about the rest of the places? The 10th and 11th rows are also indicated by places increased comfort. Some particularly “efficient” airlines manage to charge a fee for booking these seats as well. However, their location opposite the emergency exits, which on the one hand is a plus due to the increased legroom, may be a minus for some passengers, because they simply will not be seated there. This applies to children, disabled people, pensioners and pregnant women. In an emergency, passengers in these seats are expected to assist flight attendants, however, the above categories of persons, as a rule, themselves need to be accompanied.

National air carrier

By the way, he has 7 Airbus A319 aircraft in his fleet. The cabin layout (Aeroflot ordered an individual layout at the factory) consists of 21 rows and two classes of service. Business class has 5 rows: 4 seats per row (double seats with increased comfort). The economy cabin has 16 rows: 6 standard seats (built-up seats on each side of the aisle).

– a narrow-body aircraft designed for medium-haul airlines. It is a modification of the A320 with a shortened fuselage by reducing the number of passenger seats by two rows. Thanks to the release of variants with different flight ranges and capacity, operators of this type of aircraft receive significant advantages. In addition to the basic model, designed to carry 124 passengers over a range of up to 6,650 km, customers are offered an option with increased capacity up to 156 seats.

Story

Airbus began preliminary studies of a 120-seat version of the A320 aircraft with a short fuselage in 1990. The new airliner received the designation A319. The A319 development program officially began at the end of May 1992. The main competitors of the new model were American aircraft and the McDonnell Douglas MD-87.

The first flight of the A319 prototype took place on August 25, 1995. Certification was completed in late March 1996 and the first A319 was delivered to the first airline in April. In order to better meet customer requirements, Airbus offers a choice of two modifications of the A319, with CFMI CFM56-5B and IAE V2500-A5 engines. For ease of designation, the aircraft with engines from CFM was named A319-110, and those with engines from IAE - A319-130.

The A319 is equipped with a digital avionics system similar in composition to the complex of the leading aircraft of this family, the A320, as well as the even smaller A318 and the extended version, the A321.

The main advantage of the A319 is that it is the widest (3.95 m) among narrow-body aircraft in its segment.

The cost of the Airbus A319 is from $63.3 to $77.3 million.

A319 NEO

Despite the fact that almost two decades have passed since the appearance of the A319, the aircraft is constantly being modernized in accordance with the requirements of the time. Airbus is currently working on installing new engines on the A319. The program was called New Engine Option. Customers will be offered a choice of CFM International LEAP-X and Pratt & Whitney PW1000G engines. The new engines are 16% more fuel efficient, but the actual savings once installed on the aircraft will be slightly less as 1-2% savings are typically lost when installing engines on an existing model. The new engines will increase the flight range by about 950 km and the payload by about 2 tons. The A319neo will also receive a modified wing with Sharklets tips.

Sharklets

Sharklets are winglets developed by Airbus specifically for the new A320Neo family of aircraft. According to the company's statement, Sharlets improve the aerodynamics of the aircraft by increasing the effective aspect ratio of the wing and reducing the induced drag created by the vortex breaking off from the end of the swept wing. Airbus estimates that the use of Sharklets will reduce fuel consumption over long distances by 3.5%, which will also mean a reduction in carbon dioxide emissions. In addition, A320 family aircraft with Sharklets will be able to increase payload by 500 kg or increase range by 180 km (100 nautical miles) while maintaining standard load. Also, an increase in take-off weight can be converted into the use of lower engine thrust during takeoff, which will accordingly save resources power plant. Among other advantages of the innovation, Airbus cites improved climb characteristics and an increased initial cruising altitude.

A319 – Business jet

Airbus also offers several corporate versions of the A319:

  • A319CJ is a business aircraft with an extended flight range.
  • A319LR – Airbus modification A319 with additional fuel tanks, increasing the flight range to 8300 km.
  • A319ACJ (Airbus Corporate Jet) is a business aircraft carrying 39 passengers over a distance of up to 12,000 km.

Airbus A319 medium-haul aircraft are used by Rossiya Airlines on the most popular routes within the country and on international flights. To make the flight as comfortable as possible, you should worry in advance about choosing the best seats on the Airbus A319 “Russia”.

The airline's fleet includes 26 aircraft of this type, modification 319-100. The majority of the fleet is Bermudian registered (VQ-B**), the rest are Irish registered (EI-***). They were purchased from the secondary market and converted from a single-class layout to a two-class layout.

The average age of this type of aircraft is 13.4 years. The youngest of them is VQ-BCP (8.1 years), the oldest is VQ-BIU (20.6 years).

Diagram of the cabin of the Airbus A319 aircraft of Rossiya Airlines

The aircraft has two seating options, although the general configuration is the same in all cases - 8 business class seats and 120 economy seats. However, different Airbus A319s have significantly different cabin layouts. In total there are 2 varieties of it.

Look for cheap tickets for any type of transport without leaving your home:

The layout of seats in the Airbus A319 cabin is as follows:

As can be seen from the figure, the board has two classes of service.

  • Business Class. For those who value comfort. On some planes the legroom may be the same as in economy class, but in most cases it is full. Located immediately behind the cockpit.
  • Economy class. Separated from business class by a partition. A total of 18 or 19 rows with 3 seats each.

Option 1: description of the interior layout and service features

The plane has 22 rows of seats. Let's look at the features of each of them:

  • Rows 1-2. Their formula is 2-2. These are business class seats located immediately behind the cockpit. Here the passenger enjoys a full range of comfort with wide seats and optimal legroom.
  • Row 3. These are the best seats in the cabin according to several criteria at once. Firstly, passengers have the right to choose the range of drinks and in-flight meals first. Thanks to the partition separating business class, privacy violation and seat reclining are eliminated. Most often, these seats are purchased by families with small children - these rows have mounts for baby bassinets.
  • Rows 7-8. The seats are located near the wings, so these places are suitable for lovers of silence. Engine sounds are absorbed by their plane. True, there will be no view from the porthole.
  • Row 9. From a safety point of view, the best chances of survival are emergency landing or possible evacuation will be for passengers in this row, which is located near the emergency exit. The two seats closest to the aisle on each side have extra legroom. The window seats are standard.
  • For passengers accompanying sick relatives, the best seats are in rows 20 to 22. The seats in row B are designed to accommodate stretchers.
  • Row 23. Located in front of the bathrooms. Unpleasant smell, noise and crowding cause discomfort.

Best places

  • 1A-2D, 3A-3F, 7A-8F, 9B-9E

Nice places

  • rows 4-6, 10-19

Worst places

  • 20-22 rows

Option 2: features of the cabin layout, the best seats on the plane

  • The business class of these planes is slightly worse, as the airline has changed the cabin layout to two class. In the first two rows, when adapting the sides, the central seat was removed and the space between the seats was expanded. However, the width of the seats is more identical to economy class.
  • Row 10. Similar to option 1, only shifted by one row.

Best places

  • rows 1-2, 10B-10E

Nice places

  • rows 4-9, 10A, 10F,
  • rows 11-20

Bad places

  • rows 21-23

Rows 11 to 19 in both layouts are considered neutral for this type of aircraft in terms of comfort. They have a standard pitch and good visibility in both layouts. The only obstacles in this regard are children walking and passengers who, due to health conditions, find it difficult to bear long flights. All that remains is to be patient a little.

How to be guaranteed to get the best seats

Rossiya Airlines has the right to seat a passenger in any seat at its discretion if the passenger has not independently taken care of his own comfort during the flight. Cases of passengers from the same reservation being seated in different parts of the plane have also become more frequent. In order not to spoil your flight, just follow the following algorithm:

  • Indicate travel dates and travel destinations on the website of Rossiya Airlines or an air ticket sales agency. Perform a search.
  • Choose a convenient flight. Make sure it is flown by an Airbus A319 and the carrier is Rossiya.
  • On the Flightradar24 website, enter the number of a convenient flight and view which airliners flew on the route of interest over the last 7 days.
  • Based on the picture of the cabin layout of the Airbus A319 of Rossiya Airlines and the characteristics of the airliner’s cabin, select seats according to your preferences.
  • During online check-in or purchasing a ticket (depending on the flight you are interested in), activate the “Seat Selection” service and mark the appropriate seats on the board map.

Gradually, this modification of the A319 airliner will be phased out as passenger traffic increases and the fleet ages, giving way to new generation airliners.

Despite the abundance of airliner models that are widely used by various companies today, air carriers still prefer Airbus brand aircraft. These creations of European designers are ideal for passenger transportation, in addition, they are equipped with the most modern electrical equipment and navigation devices.

Of all the models of this company in Russia, the Airbus A319 is most often used. The interior diagram of this airliner is often found on the Internet in several configuration options. This variability allows aircraft to be placed on routes of different distances. Today we will tell you in detail about which the most used in their activities major airlines in our country. You can also find out which seats in the cabin can be considered the best.

General description of the aircraft

The Airbus A319 (we will provide a diagram of the interior of several models in the following sections of the article) belongs to the Airbus A320 family and is the second most popular airliner in the world. This plane is four meters shorter than its brother, so the number of passenger seats is reduced. The development of this model began in the early nineties of the last century; the airliner made its first flight in 1995. A year later, it received a certificate of conformity and began mass production.

We can say that it was from this moment that the triumphant march of the Airbus A319 across the planet began. Foreign airlines began to actively purchase it, and gradually this model became the most popular among Russian carriers. Currently, such aircraft comprise most aircraft fleet of S7 Airlines and Rossiya. It is noteworthy that throughout the twenty years of use of the Airbus A319, its design engineers have been constantly modernizing it, and it has not yet lost its relevance.

Aircraft modifications

Currently, there are three modifications of the Airbus A319 on the market. A diagram of the interior of each model can reveal the differences and similarities between these aircraft.

But experts know that airliners of the same family differ significantly in technical characteristics:

  • The Airbus A319-100 is considered a classic model and can fly almost seven thousand kilometers.
  • The Airbus A319LR is one of the more modern airliners, which are equipped with several and can cover distances of over eight thousand kilometers.
  • The Airbus A319ACJ was released as a business class airliner, in which no more than thirty-nine people can travel over a distance of up to twelve thousand kilometers.

Recently, the Airbus company presented the latest modification of the airliner - the Airbus A319 NEO. The aircraft differs from previous models in having a different wing structure and updated engines.

Brief technical specifications

Aircraft of this family are equipped with engines of two modifications; they are manufactured by different factories. About twenty percent of the structure is composite material. The airliner is designed for medium-range routes and has appropriate fuel tanks. On the body you can see four passenger doors. The total capacity of the Airbus A319 (the interior diagram confirms this) is one hundred and twenty-four people. However, there are models that can carry up to one hundred and fifty-six passengers at a time.

Aeroflot: interior diagram of the Airbus A319

The largest Russian airline aircraft of this model are actively used. Therefore, passengers fly on them quite often and are always interested in which seats are best to choose. In order to clarify this issue, we will need a diagram or photo of the Airbus A319 interior, indicating the rows and the most comfortable seats for travel. The Aeroflot company uses airliners of two cabin modifications: for one hundred and twenty-four passengers with two types of cabin, and for one hundred and fifty-six people, accommodating only in economy class. We will consider a two-class version of the aircraft.

The interior diagram of the Airbus A319 presented by us clearly shows which seats can be considered the best. They are marked in green and yellow. The sixth row can be called convenient, but with some limitations. Here you won’t be able to stretch out freely, but due to the wall located in front, you can sit quite comfortably. In addition, passengers in this row are the first to receive a hot lunch. In the seventh row, the seats have some restrictions on reclining, so these seats are suitable for short trips. The eighth row is considered the most comfortable; there is a lot of free legroom, and even a long flight will not cause any inconvenience.

S7: interior diagram of the Airbus A319

This carrier was one of the first in Russia to begin purchasing Airbuses. Currently, the airline has about twenty aircraft of a classic configuration. They provide eight seats in business class and one hundred and twenty in economy class. As you can see from the diagram, the best places here are also marked in yellow and green.

In front of the third row there is a small curtain separating the salons. Therefore, travelers will have plenty of free space during the flight. The seats in the eighth row are comfortable, but keep in mind that you cannot recline the backrests. Therefore, you should board here only in cases where your flight will not take more than two hours. The ninth row is the cherished dream of most passengers - there is a lot of space here, and the flight turns into a complete pleasure.

Rossiya Airlines: the best seats on the plane

The Rossiya air carrier already has twenty-six Airbuses in its fleet. The cabin diagram of the Airbus A319, given just below, will tell airline passengers where they will fly most comfortably. Keep in mind that the airline operates with two types of cabin layouts. The first is identical to the previous option, which is used by S7. But the second one is a little different from its brother.

In this modification, the single-class aircraft has been redesigned, so travelers can choose seats in business and economy. The tenth row is considered the most convenient. It is marked in green. The remaining places are ordinary and do not deserve a detailed description.

Airbus A319 is an analogue of the 320 model, but is smaller in size. In various modifications, the aircraft has different numbers of seats: from 124 for a 2-class cabin to 156 for a 1-class cabin.

In total, there are much more than ten such modifications today. Therefore, in different sources, including on the Internet, the same scheme is not always found Airbus cabin A319. Having chosen, it would seem, the most comfortable spot, relying on one of these schemes, the passenger is disappointed when he finds himself in the cabin: this place is located differently. What should you do to ensure that your flight is guaranteed to be comfortable?

Interior layout of the Airbus A319 Aeroflot, the best seats - something like this in the search will allow you to find the official layout of the passenger seats of this aircraft model. But not everything is so simple: firstly, the scheme used by Aeroflot may differ from similar ones used in other companies, and secondly, not always, even on official websites, air carriers bother to warn potential clients about possible changes in interior layouts. This has already happened at Aeroflot.

Therefore it is worth considering standard layout of the Airbus A319 and understand the main features of the location of places. But at the same time be prepared for possible changes. Among the general recommendations, it is worth highlighting the following:

  • If possible, consult with an airline employee;
  • Beware of purchasing tickets for seats located near any service premises;
  • carefully study the aircraft layout for non-reclining seats or places where this possibility is severely limited;
  • do not be sure that the layout of the aircraft matches those in which you have already flown - it is better to double-check the information again.

1. Seats from 1st to 5th row

This is business class. Unlike the A330, the distance between the seats is not so large. It is, of course, more spacious than in economy class, but it is still sometimes not liked by those who are used to flying on the Airbus A330.

In rows 1-5, it is especially worth highlighting the very first one: if you are looking for the most free legroom, then this is where you should buy a ticket.

Even with their impressive height, passengers do not experience discomfort when sitting in the first row. The back tilts quite decently here, and no one will “lie down” on you from the front. The only negative is the presence of mounts for baby carriers near the wall: you can buy a ticket next to the baby. But this is business class, so the probability is low.

2. Seats in rows 6 and 7

Because of the wall in the sixth row, you will not be able to fully stretch your legs forward, although in general there is enough space for them. Just like in the first row, no one will recline their chair for you. But the seats here are a little narrower due to the tables fixed on the armrests. There are also mounts for baby carriers here, and the chance of flying next to small children is much higher than in the front row. On the plus side, it is worth noting that food is served during the flight starting from the 6th row. The seventh is located directly in front of the emergency exit. Therefore, in order to ensure safety, the seats either recline weakly or do not have such a function at all.

Important: in some configurations, the seating arrangement in the Airbus 319 cabin is different, and the emergency exit is located at row number 10.

3. Row No. 8: seats A, F

Due to the close location of the exit, the chairs here are quite uncomfortable and are tilted. But there is plenty of legroom.

4. Row No. 8: seats B, C, D, E

In the same eighth row, 4 seats in the center are considered the best in economy class. Located behind the emergency exit, they give greater freedom to passengers' legs. In addition, animals and children are never allowed here. However, tickets for these seats are not sold to older people or those with disabilities.

5. Seats in rows 9 to 19

Nothing concrete can be said about them - these are ordinary economy class seats with their pros and cons. Here you may find yourself next to restless children, passengers with animals, or the passenger sitting in front of you may “lie down” on you.

6. 20 row: places C and D

Row 20 is no different, except for a couple of seats - C and D. They are located near the aisle, and since there is a toilet nearby, you should not expect a quiet flight.

7. Row No. 21

These are the very back seats and are recommended to be purchased as a last resort when other options are sold out.

The reason is the proximity of toilets. In addition, because of the wall at the back, it will not be possible to recline the chair as desired. You can expect queues for the restroom, the sounds of the toilet running and, perhaps, corresponding aromas.

Thus, the A319 cabin layout should be carefully studied before purchasing tickets if you want to fly in comfort and without unnecessary nerves. Registration on the website is better in this regard, since you have a chance to weigh the pros and cons of all available seats in the cabin.
