City landmarks

Netanya stretches along the coast for 13.5 km. The city center consists of small 3-4-story white houses in the Bauhaus style.

Story

In 1928, the Jewish National Fund acquired land in the Arab village of Um Khaled to establish a settlement there. The fact of land acquisition during the period is still a dispute between Palestinians and Israelis.

Netanya was founded on February 18, 1929. The founders were young members of the Bnei Binyamin organization from Kfar Tavor, immigrants from Eastern Europe who arrived in this area to create a moshav (agricultural settlement). They were led by Oved Ben-Ammi, who later became mayor of Netanya (1930-70).

The first inhabitants of Netanya, like many others in the fertile Sharon Valley, were first gripped by “orange fever”—the cultivation of citrus fruits for export.

In 2012, against the backdrop of the massive dismantling of monuments to Soviet soldiers in a number of countries, by decision of the Israeli government, a sculptural composition was unveiled on the seashore in Netanya, symbolizing the victory of the Red Army over German fascism and the end of the Holocaust.

The museum was opened in the early 60s of the twentieth century in the village of Avihail, which is located 4 kilometers from Netanya. The exhibition is dedicated to the history of Jewish military units during the First World War and includes artillery pieces, bladed weapons and firearms of that era.

Tourist stories about Netanya.

In April 2014, we vacationed in Netanya. This is one of the most popular resorts Israel. This is a city of beautiful modern buildings, fountains, cafes, promenades and unforgettable open-air celebrations. Of all the resorts in Israel, we chose Netanya because this city is so conveniently located that you can easily get to Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, and Haifa from it. And also because Netanya is famous for its beautiful clean beaches, parks, nature reserves and very beautiful embankments. There is everything for an unforgettable holiday.

April in Israel is considered low season, so it is most suitable for walks and excursions (and there is a lot to see in Israel) rather than for a beach holiday. The swimming season begins in May and ends in October, so if you like to swim and sunbathe, then you should go during this period. When we arrived in Israel, it was quite cool, +16 degrees, and the wind was blowing, which really upset us. But two days later it got warmer, the wind died down and we set off... read more

In March-April 2014 we vacationed in Israel in Netanya. Although there is a lot of controversy about "Netanya" or "Netanya", locals speak with "a", based on the fact that the city was founded by a Jew named Netanyago, but official name It's still written with an "e". I will choose “Netanya” because this name is closer to me, and when I was in Israel I heard “Netanya” in conversations.

I consider this time of year to be more or less suitable for a holiday in Israel. It’s not cold anymore, in the evening you can only wear a jacket, but during the day you can sunbathe on the beach, it’s even worth wearing a hat, because the sun is quite warm. read in full

The most best offer At this time of year, my husband and I "caught" from the El Israel airline. A flight from Moscow and back cost less than $200 per person. But you should remember that representatives of this company carry out security control at Domodedovo airport, so for registration it is better to arrive early - 3 hours before. And be prepared for many unexpected questions. It’s better to even take a hotel reservation sheet. Everyone gets on the plane, but the ceremony is still inevitable - the most thorough.

After four hours of flight, radically different air rushes straight into the plane's open hatch - humid, warm. This is the beauty of a late autumn holiday. From dank and almost frosty Moscow you find yourself in a different reality. It's like another bonus piece of summer. Down jackets and fur coats could be given to mourners. Of course, for Israelis, November is no longer the swimming season for the Mediterranean Sea. But the sea temperature is still 27 degrees, the air is different - it can get colder to the point of a windbreaker. read in full

The wonderful green city of Netanya, located in Israel on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea, is especially beautiful during the swimming season. Last summer I lived in this quiet, calm city Israel. There are plenty of descriptions of Netanya hotels on the Internet. A lot is written about them. But I didn’t find comprehensive information about the beaches of this Mediterranean resort, much less photographs. Therefore, I hope that my information will be useful to many tourists.

The beaches in Netanya are quite wide and very well maintained.

Stories about Netanya

Latest hotel reviews in Netanya.

My husband and I vacationed in Israel at the Netanya resort in April of this year. The country struck us immediately and above all with its special smell. This is some kind of miraculous mixture of coffee with exquisite perfume and something else completely incomprehensible. But the smell is amazingly pleasant. The hotel is small and homely.

The hotel employs a wonderful girl, the administrator Alexandra, who is the heart of this hotel. She is incredibly friendly, helps everyone and gives advice on everything. Looks like a Goddess. However, you will understand everything yourself when you just start communicating with her. Everything is nearby - shops, cafes and a vegetable market. It is so oriental and unusually colorful.

We were practically on excursions all the time - from six in the morning until eight in the evening; we arrived at the hotel already very tired and we just wanted to sleep. Well, on free days we already went to visit the market and, of course, to the sea. It's just superb here! Due to early excursions, breakfasts here are also very early. They started at five in the morning.

In principle, the dishes were repeated every day, but there were a lot of them and they were delicious. Everything was fresh, never came across anything stale or weathered. Everything was cut just before serving. There were a lot of olives which we love.

I would like to give everyone the advice that our Israeli friend shared with us. The fact is that the Netanya resort is located almost in the desert, that is, there are dry climatic conditions. Therefore, you don’t feel thirsty here at all and you don’t want to drink. But we must not forget that the desert still dries out the body and you must definitely drink, otherwise you will suffer from headaches.

At least take small sips, but drink more often. Otherwise, by the evening your head will hurt incredibly. This is what happened to me on the first day of our excursion - I returned with a terrible headache. Well, then, on the advice of a friend, I started drinking in small sips and everything became normal.

And then another piece of advice - it’s more profitable to buy water in blocks of six bottles at once, but always without gas. Even store sellers always warn that packaged water is cheaper. In general, we truly fell in love with Netanya and, of course, with Israel too. It is very colorful and beautiful here, with a beautiful sea and excellent people.

My husband and I vacationed in the Israeli resort of Netanya for six nights. Fortunately, we were accommodated immediately. But the only thing we got was a very tiny room. Instead of one double bed, there were two combined beds and this, of course, was very uncomfortable. For example, I always fell into the middle somewhere.

The advantage of the room is definitely the beautiful view of the sea, but the disadvantage is the internet. He seems to be catching, but very, very poorly. For food, we only paid for breakfast, which was basically terribly monotonous. But nevertheless, it was still possible to choose something.

The hotel is located right on the first coastline, which is of course very convenient. The beach is clean and very neat. There are a lot of different cafes near the hotel. And very close there is a market where you can buy fruit and, in general, everything you need. So the hotel is very well located, and we were satisfied with everything.

We arrived in Netanya for only a week from the end of October until the fifth of November. For the first two days we were accommodated in the Park Hotel because there were simply no free places in the Ginot Yam we had booked. But there were no particular problems with this - the hotels are located next door, so moving from one to another is not difficult. And in terms of food, the Park Hotel turned out to be even better, with a wider range of options.

Both of these hotels are located very close to the central square with restaurants and exchange offices and very close to the sea. In Ginot Yam, our room was on the fourth floor with a direct view of the sea. The room is very comfortable - with a kettle and hairdryer and a bath in the bathroom. Cleaning along with replacement of towels was carried out every day. There was shampoo in the bathroom, but no conditioner. Therefore, you need to take it with you like beach towels.

The hotel has a very good administrator, a polite and attentive girl named Alexandra. She helps with everything and explains everything, suggests if you need anything. We were incredibly pleased with our vacation, so with a calm heart we advise everyone to go on vacation here.

In principle, we can say about this hotel that it is conveniently located - it takes about two minutes to walk to the beach, you can even take the elevator down, there is a pedestrian street and many cafes of all kinds nearby. The beach is very good, it is literally thoroughly cleaned every morning. Both sun loungers and umbrellas on the beach are paid. Two sun loungers and one umbrella - 50 shekels.

In the 40s, the city became a large and significant center for diamond processing and sales, which had a positive impact on its development.

During wartime, ships carrying Jewish refugees fleeing the horrors of the Holocaust landed in Netanya, and in 1948 the population of the moshav exceeded 10 thousand people, which gave it the right to be called a city. A little later, the city of Netanya included nearby settlements. In the 80s, the population was replenished with numerous emigrants from Russia and the CIS countries, and currently the number of immigrants from Russia exceeds 40 thousand people.
