History

The history of this place dates back to the Iron Age - even then ancient settlements stood on these hills.

The area received its name from the Vorobyovo settlement, which belonged to the wealthy Vorobyov boyars. The ancient millennial family of the Vorobyovs enjoyed special honor and recognition among the rulers. Sloboda is repeatedly mentioned in chronicles, Ivan the Terrible and Boris Godunov loved to visit it.

In the 15th century. the lands passed to the Grand Duchess Sofya Vitovtovna - and since then they have become a place for the royal rest. The residence of the Moscow princes, tsars and emperors was built. The beautiful Vorobyevsky Palace has not survived to this day, finally destroyed by a fire in 1812. But the Dmitriev-Mamonov estate of those times has survived, and today the lower part of its park is open to visitors.

In Soviet times, an attempt was made to rename the mountains to "Leninskie", but it was unsuccessful - the original name was preserved.

The main architectural attraction of Vorobyovy Gory can rightfully be considered a monumental complex of eight buildings of Moscow State University (MSU). In 1949, the first stone was laid solemnly.

The Sparrow Hills Hill also attracted religious leaders. The Church of the Life-Giving Trinity, built in the 19th century. on the site of the dismantled dilapidated wooden church of the 17th century. - an Orthodox church still in operation.

At the foot of the Sparrow Hills is the Andreevsky Monastery in Captives.

What to see?

Vorobyovy Gory, being a nature conservation area, a large park, a green area, act as an island of calm and tranquility. The area stretches along the right bank of the Moskva River from the Setun River to the Andreevsky Bridge. The local park of the same name will delight you with three ponds, lost in a deciduous forest. It contains flora and fauna, rare for Moscow. Three ecological paths are laid between old lindens, oaks, maples. Walking along them, you can hear bird trills - there are special places in the park for birds to feed them.

In summer, you can diversify your walk by renting rollers or a bicycle. There are gazebos for 7-10 people. Instead of walking along the embankment, you can take a river tram.

In winter, the slope is used for sledding, separate ski slopes, the lift is working.

In addition to hiking trails, to the observation deck cable car... Today it is under restoration, the length of the new funicular will be 737 m. The new cable car station on the embankment will also be a museum.

From this observation deck, the view was admired centuries earlier by Karamzin, Bulgakov, Blok, etc. A romantic place for lovers, inspiring for creators. A picturesque panorama of Moscow opens from the site, a bird's-eye view allows you to see the Moscow River, roofs of houses and domes of churches, a monument of the newest architecture - the Moscow City business complex.

Since 2014, the site has been equipped with an interactive map of Moscow, and a recreation area has been improved under the site.

How to get there?

It is convenient to get to Vorobyovy Gory by metro. There is a bridge over the Moskva River, on it there is an unusually decorated metro station "Vorobyovy Gory" - it runs along the red line of the metro.

Leaving the station, follow the sign for the exit "To Vorobyovy Gory, Kosygin Street" and you will find yourself right under the bridge in the park area. Walk from the metro to the observation deck along the paved paths for 15-20 minutes, depending on the step. However, there are so many beautiful places, benches and gazebos, a lake with birds, that all this will want to be examined, and then the walk to the observation deck may take longer. At the same time, there will be more pleasure too.

Vorobyovy Gory (former Lenin Hills) is a green massif on the banks of the river, a magnificent park with alleys where you can walk and roller-skate. This is an excellent observation deck in front of the Moscow State University building with the best in the city panoramic view to Moscow, a pedestrian embankment, a river station, many sports facilities, restaurants and souvenir shops.

We leave the metro station. m. Vorobyovy Gory.

If you arrive by car, the difficulties with parking in places where it should not be difficult will surprise you - there are numerous signs everywhere prohibiting parking in the area of the Vorobyovy Gory observation deck. You will either have to break the rules, risking that your car will be taken away by a tow truck, or stop far enough from the observation deck - the center of the route. In addition, in any case, you will park your car only where you are lucky, so in any case we will orient ourselves to the beginning of our route from the metro.

So, we leave the subway. The exit from the metro is one of the most original in the city. The metro platform is located right inside the bridge over the Moskva River. It is both a metro bridge and a pedestrian bridge, and road bridge, connecting the Komsomolsky Prospekt running from the center with its continuation - Vernadsky Prospect.

The exit from the metro is located directly in the bridge body, covered with glass. Therefore, already from the metro - an excellent view of both sides of the bridge (by the way, from the passing metro trains - also). On the one hand, we see - directly Vorobyovy Gory, Moscow State University and Luzhniki, on the other side - the building of the Academy of Sciences, St. Andrew's Monastery and the end of Vorobyovy Gory (both the park and the embankment).

We leave from the bridge to Vorobyevskaya embankment. When moving from the center, this is the direction of the first car (the beginning of the train). When looking at the Luzhniki stadium - it's to the left.

The embankment along the Moskva River and the park located above the embankment on both sides of the bridge are an excellent place for romantic walks, sunbathing in summer, and rollerblading.

On a hillside in a green area, there is a monument to Herzen and Ogarev.

Downstairs near the embankment there is a roller track for specialized rollerblading.

A high springboard with a lift reminds that Vorobyovy Gory is a sports facility especially in winter. The springboard is also an identification mark. On it you can navigate the location of the observation deck. The site is located near the top of the springboard. In fact, this is the main site, but there are other sites in the park, from where there are also good views.

However, you will not confuse the main site with anything. There are many people here at any time of the year. With photo and film cameras, with easels. Many tourists, many weddings. Rows of souvenir merchants.

We rise to the site, crossing the line of the springboard. By the way, you can go up and down the mountain on the lift by paying for a ticket at the ticket office. Sailing over the park, you can take pictures of the views and surroundings from the chair lift as well as from the observation deck.

On the way from the top of the ski lift to the observation deck, there is a restaurant with a terrace open in summer overlooking Moscow.

Nearby you can eat in more budget option - fast food outlets are located right next to the observation deck.

On the main observation deck of Vorobyovy Gory we look around the panorama. Sumptuously!

Directly in front of us is Moscow - the river and the huge bowl of the Luzhniki stadium, behind it a little to the right is the Novodevichy Convent.

On the right we see the bridge where we left the metro. Immediately behind it on the shore, even more to the right is the St. Andrew's Monastery. And behind it is the high building of the Academy of Sciences with solar panels on the roof, slightly to the left of it is the Shukhov Tower.

If we turn around and pay attention to the objects located on the far left, we see the skyscrapers of Moscow City, the pseudo Stalinist skyscraper of the Triumph Palace on Sokol, Tower-200 on Kutuzovsky Prospekt, and high-rise buildings in the area, see metro Begovaya.

To the right we see the Stalinist skyscraper of the Ukraina hotel, between the plain factory chimneys we look at the very far away Ostankino TV tower. We see two more skyscrapers - the building on Kudrinskaya Square, and even more to the right - the Foreign Ministry building.

Among them, one can consider the White House (House of the Government of the Russian Federation), the building of the Beijing Hotel, houses-books on Novy Arbat and other objects.

Now let's pay attention to the central part of the panorama, located behind the stadium and the Novodevichy Convent.

It is impossible not to notice the Cathedral of Christ the Savior. To the right of it from most points of the site (but not from all!) You can see the heart of Moscow and Russia - the Moscow Kremlin. White Kremlin cathedrals and dark red fortress towers are visible. The Ivan the Great Bell Tower cannot be confused with anything. Looking at the small bell tower against the backdrop of huge skyscrapers and skyscrapers located much further away, it is worth remembering that the Kremlin bell tower for a long time was the most tall building in Moscow.

A little to the left of the Kremlin, the dark silhouette of Peter the Great with a ship's mast is a monument to the 300th anniversary of the Russian fleet.

To the left of the Kremlin is a powerful building of the Foreign Ministry - a Stalinist skyscraper. You can also look for the rest of the Stalinist skyscrapers. The third building is easy to find, to the right of the Kremlin on the banks of the Moskva River, which, of course, is not visible near the building - a high-rise building on Kotelnicheskaya embankment.

But the other two most distant skyscrapers - the Leningradskaya hotel and the building at the Red Gate - are not very visible and not from all points. They can be seen in the center of the panorama behind the Kremlin line.

Despite the fact that the Stalinist masses are much larger than the ancient bell towers, they are also much inferior to modern skyscrapers. And the modern skyscraper is made in the style of Stalin's, located much further (on the Sokol - North of Moscow), it is visible much better. However, this building is still not included in the six famous skyscrapers.

The sixth building is best seen from the observation deck. However, it is not in the panoramic view, and in order to look at it, you just need to look back. And you will see the excellent knowledge of Moscow State University in all its glory. We'll go to him.

Another modern building - a tower with a plate on the roof, the building of the Svisotel Krasnye Holmy hotel on Paveletskaya also attracts attention.

A powerful bayonet - the central monument of Victory Park on Poklonnaya Gora at the far left point of view is not visible from every point and can be obscured by trees. Even in such an angle, where the panorama goes far to the left, it is not visible.

Many more interesting buildings can be seen on the panorama, but this is already a subject for more detailed study.

We will go to the church located next to the observation deck of Vorobyovy Gory. Church of the Holy Trinity. It is believed that it was here that Kutuzov prayed before deciding to leave Moscow. And now in front of it is a gathering place for bikers and a regular free exhibition of the most expensive and diverse motorcycles.

A little down the slope from the church is a memorial stone that speaks of the merits of the Moscow mayor's office.

Let's look back at the slope of the Sparrow Hills. Tsar Alexander initially wanted to build the Cathedral of Christ the Savior here after the victory over Napoleon and the solemn entry into Paris on a white horse. However, the hillside is dangerous because slides down into the river and large construction is undesirable here. Even the almighty Stalin had to change his plans to build the bulk of Moscow State University and push it away from the slope. But initially they also wanted to build it here.

There is simply no more magnificent hill in Moscow.

It was from here that the Master and Margarita started their farewell flight in Bulgakov's novel, on the slope of the Sparrow Hills the Master said goodbye to Moscow.

Metro station: Vorobyovy Gory

Vorobyovy Gory is an area located on the high right bank of the Moskva River. In 1935 it was renamed and became known as Lenin Hills. However, the historical name did not come out of the lexicon, the people more often used the phrase Vorobyovy Gory. In 1999 the former name was returned. This hill is one of the seven hills in Moscow. Such an analogy with Rome appeared as early as the 16th century, when Moscow was actively rebuilding itself. Now on Vorobyovy Gory there is a park of the same name. It is very popular among tourists and residents of Moscow. observation deck... Its height relative to the level of the river is 80 m. From the observation deck on Vorobyovy Gory, one of the most picturesque views of the capital opens.

Sparrow Hills history

As shown by archaeological excavations carried out on Vorobyovy Gory in the 19th century, ancient settlements on this place existed already in the 1st millennium BC. e. The name Vorobyovy Gory comes from the village of Vorobyovo, which was located here in the XIV century. The village is named after the famous boyar family - the Vorobyovs - who were its original owners. In 1453 the village was bought by Princess Sofia Vitovtovna, the wife of Prince Vasily I. A wooden palace was built here. Thus, Vorobyovo became a popular residence of Moscow princes, and later Russian tsars and emperors. The palace was rebuilt several times. In 1812, it was destroyed by fire. Since the XIX century. Vorobyovy Gory is a popular summer cottage and resting place.

In 1949, the construction of a new building for Moscow State University began on the territory of the village of Vorobyevo. As a result, only the Trinity Church remained from the village. The history of this is interesting ancient temple... It is known that already at the time of the purchase of the village of Vorobyevo by Princess Sophia, there was an ancient wooden church here. Subsequently, it was rebuilt several times. The stone Trinity Church, which has survived at the moment, began to be built in 1811. The construction was interrupted by the Patriotic War, and completed in 1813. It is known that in 1812 MI Kutuzov prayed in it. It is noteworthy that the Trinity Church was not closed in the 20th century.

Vorobyovy Gory and the present

In 1953, a ski jump was built on Vorobyovy Gory, which is still in use. The ski slope is also popular, there are chair lifts. Various competitions are held on Vorobyovy Gory, for example, mountain biking.

In 1958, a metro bridge was built with the Vorobyovy Gory station (at the time of opening, the station was called Leninskie Gory).

At the end of the 20th century, the Vorobyovy Gory State Nature Reserve was established. Its main goal is to protect the nature of Moscow. The park is now protected natural area... Ecological trails have been created. Guided tours are available.

Now Vorobyovy Gory is popular tourist place... Both Muscovites and guests of the capital love to visit here. A beautiful panorama of Moscow opens from the observation deck. And the park stretching along the embankment is perfect for walking and active rest... The most interesting architectural landmark of Soviet times is located on Vorobyovy Gory - the main building of the Moscow State University. Lomonosov (about him in more detail will be written below). Also among the architectural landmarks of Vorobyovy Gory are the Trinity Church, located at the foot of the Andreevsky Monastery, the old estate of Mamonov's dacha.

Moscow State University building on Vorobyovy Gory

The main architectural attraction of Vorobyovy Gory is the main building of Moscow State University. Its spire rises above the entire neighborhood and is visible from afar. The height of the building is 182 m, and the height with the spire is 240 m. The number of floors in the central building is 36. The building of Moscow State University on Vorobyovy Hills is one of the famous "Stalinist skyscrapers". In 1947, at the suggestion of J.V. Stalin, the Council of Ministers decided to build eight high-rise buildings - they were supposed to symbolize the 800th anniversary of Moscow, which was celebrated in 1947. However, the construction of one of the buildings was stopped after Stalin's death. As conceived by the authors, the skyscrapers were supposed to surround the Palace of the Soviets - a grandiose project that was never realized. The style of the seven built high-rises was named the Stalinist Empire style.

The best specialists of that time were involved in the construction of the Moscow State University building on Vorobyovy Gory. The work began in 1948, they were supervised by Beria himself. B. M. Iofan was appointed the chief architect. He developed the general composition of the building. However, he subsequently disagreed with the foundation specialists about the location of the building. Soon B. M. Iofan was removed. Further work was carried out under the direction of the architect L. V. Rudnev. It is noteworthy that the topic of his thesis was called "University big city". The foundation stone was laid in 1948. Work (construction, interior decoration, arrangement of the adjacent territory) was completed in 1953. On September 1 this year, the first training sessions were held in the new building. For 37 years, the main building of Moscow State University on Vorobyovy Hills was the tallest building in Europe (in 1990, the championship passed to Frankfurt).

Luzhniki

The Luzhniki Olympic Complex is located on the opposite bank of the Moskva River. It can be clearly seen from the observation deck on Vorobyovy Gory.

Of particular note is the Luzhniki's main sports facility - the stadium of the same name. Its construction began in 1955, and in 1956 the grand opening took place. Since then, the stadium has been rebuilt many times.

The Luzhniki Stadium hosted many sporting events. In 1980 it became the centerpiece of the Moscow Olympics. It is also a popular concert venue. For example, in 1990 the last concert of the Kino group took place here. It was attended by 72 thousand residents. During the concert for the 4th and last time, the Olympic flame was lit in the stadium. Other major concerts were also held: Michael Jackson (1993), Madonna (2006), Metallica (2007), Red Hot Chili Peppers and Gogol Bordello (2012), etc. In 2008, the Luzhniki stadium hosted the UEFA Champions League final Chelsea " - "Manchester United".

In 2018, Luzhniki will host the FIFA World Cup. It is planned to host the opening match, one of the semi-finals and the final. The stadium is now closed for reconstruction. It is the largest stadium in Russia and one of the largest in the world. The size of the field is 105x68 m. By 2018, it is planned to accommodate 81,000 seats in the stands. The option of demolishing the stadium and building a new one in its place was considered, but in the end it was decided to reconstruct the existing one.

One of the cult sights of Moscow, which has become a must-see point on the maps of tourists coming to the capital. It is from here that the widest panorama of the city opens, accessible all year round, at any time of the day or night - and, by the way, absolutely free.

The height of the observation deck is about 80 meters above the level of the Moscow River (200 meters above sea level).

The high altitude is due to the features of the relief: the site is located at the highest point of the Vorobyovy Gory - a steep cliff of the Teplostan Upland that forms the high right bank of the Moskva River. Thanks to this, Vorobyovy Gory noticeably rise above the city, and visitors to the observation deck are literally on the edge of the cliff, from which a magnificent view of the central part of Moscow opens.

Observation deck on Vorobyovy Gory, September 2018

It should be noted that Vorobyovy Gory is popular not only among tourists. Following a long-standing urban tradition, newlyweds often come here, and in the evenings, Moscow bikers and street racers gather at the site.

Panorama of Moscow

The observation deck of Vorobyovy Gory is rightfully considered the main observation deck in Moscow: this is the only public place from which you can really feel the scale of the city.

Due to its convenient location in the center of Moscow, it boasts the widest and most diverse panorama of the capital: no other observation deck has so many visible sights.

Panorama of Moscow from Vorobyovy Gory, September 2018

From here you can see almost all the iconic skyscrapers of the capital, 6 of the 7 Stalinist skyscrapers (including the Moscow State University building behind the site), a number of architectural landmarks in the central part of the city (and even the Kremlin!), As well as the embankments of the Moskva River. And if you look closely at the construction cranes on the horizon, you can even look a little into the future of Moscow and imagine how the cityscape will change in the future. The panorama of the city is changing rapidly, and in a few years it will be markedly different from what can be seen today (just as the panorama today is different from what it was several years ago).

At the same time, the view that opens is very dynamic: if you look closely, you can see how cars go along the Third Transport Ring and the bright red Lastochka trains along the MCC.

And in order to admire the view of Moscow from the Sparrow Hills it was even more interesting, free viewing binoculars were installed on the site, thanks to which some buildings can be seen literally in detail.

Exactly opposite the observation deck is a noticeable round structure, the Luzhniki Big Sports Arena. The Olympic Stadium, opened in 1956, is very convenient to use as a starting point for views of the city.

Left of Luzhniki

At the leftmost point relative to Luzhniki, the eyes meet with views of modern Moscow and the highest Moscow skyscrapers: the Mirax Plaza business center, as well as residential complexes and the House on Begovaya. The business center "Nordstar Tower" on Begovaya Street is clearly visible on Krasnopresnenskaya embankment.

Slightly to the right - unexpectedly adjacent to the Ostankino TV tower and CHP-12 pipes, ("White House") and. In addition to the hotel "Ukraine", two more Stalinist skyscrapers are visible to the left of the
and. The view of the Foreign Ministry skyscraper is impressive: from here it looks like a giant rock towering over the city. Between the Stalinist skyscrapers were lined up in a row of houses-books, and in front of them was the Novodevichy Convent and various residential buildings.

If you look a little more closely, you can also notice a 165-meter skyscraper, the silhouette of which is sometimes confused by tourists with Stalin's skyscrapers.

Vorobyovskaya and Luzhnetskaya embankments of the Moskva River are clearly visible, as well as the Berezhkovsky bridge, which connects the Novodevichya embankment with Berezhkovskaya, and the Luzhnetsky railway bridge.

Center - "Luzhniki"

The Luzhniki Olympic Sports Complex is the undoubted dominant of local species: the Big Sports Arena located exactly opposite the observation deck cannot be confused with anything or not seen.

Behind the dome of the arena, you can see a number of iconic Moscow sights and simply notable places: St. Basil's Cathedral and the bell towers of the Kremlin cathedrals, the building of the Sechenov Moscow State Medical University, a Stalinist skyscraper on the Red Gate and a giant ("In commemoration of the 300th anniversary of the Russian fleet") by Zurab Tsereteli. Especially the eye clings to the monument to Peter I - this is the tallest monument in Russia and one of the tallest in the world, its height is 98 meters.

Another interesting detail was the cable car, which stretches between Vorobyovy Gory and Luzhniki over the Moskva River: its stations and cabins moving above the water are visible from the observation deck.

To the right of Luzhniki

On the right side of the panorama you can see another Stalinist skyscraper -. Not far from the high-rise is the building of the Swissotel Krasnye Holmy hotel, which is noticeable due to the design of its upper part: a flying saucer is parked on the roof. The Shukhov radio tower (Shabolovskaya tower) stands apart: a unique hyperboloid structure peeps out from behind the green massif. The structure, erected in 1920-1922, is a recognized masterpiece of engineering, in no way inferior to Eiffel tower in Paris.

To the right of other notable objects is the 22-storey building of the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Sciences, opened in the early 1990s. Muscovites liked the building of the Russian Academy of Sciences: for the unusual architectural forms on the roof it was dubbed "golden brains" and there and then they invented many fantastic stories about their purpose - they say, these are antennas for communication with extraterrestrial intelligence. "Golden Brains" have become one of the city's mysteries - perhaps it was for this building that Muscovites fell in love.

In front of the building of the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Sciences, you can see a unique structure - the 2-level Luzhnetsky metro bridge, spanned over the Moscow River between the Luzhnetskaya and Vorobyovskaya / Andreevskaya embankments. On the lower tier there is the Vorobyovy Gory metro station (until 1999 - Leninskie Gory) - the world's first metro station located above the river: it was opened in 1959. The upper tier of the bridge is given to cars - a busy highway runs along it. In addition, there are open pedestrian crossings on both sides of the bridge, along which you can cross the Moskva River without entering the station.

The history of the observation deck

The observation deck was equipped simultaneously with the construction of the Moscow State University complex in 1949-1953.

The place for it was dictated by the relief itself: Vorobyovy Gory - the high right bank of the Moskva River, a steep cliff of the Teplostan Upland, washed away by the current. Construction over the cliff was unsafe due to the danger of a landslide: initially, the main building of the Moscow State University was planned to be built closer to the river, but this turned out to be impossible. The skyscraper was built far from the cliff, and an observation deck was arranged on its edge. Since the construction, the observation deck has changed little: nowadays, viewing binoculars have been installed on it, and an illuminated diagram of Moscow with the Moskva River has been built into the paving, otherwise it has remained the same.

Various organizations have repeatedly had plans for the construction or installation of monuments on the observation deck of Vorobyovy Gory (in particular, the city authorities considered the possibility of installing here), but, fortunately, none of them came true.

According to urban legends, in the past, Vorobyovy Gory more than once became an observation platform for conquerors: they say that from here, during their campaigns, the Crimean Khan Kazy Girey II (Gaza II Giray) and the Lithuanian hetman Khodkevich looked at Moscow.

How to get there

You can get to the observation deck on Vorobyovy Gory on foot from the metro station "Sparrow Hills" Sokolnicheskaya line, it is located on Kosygin street in the area of the University square.

However, the path from the metro is not so obvious: to go from the station to the site, you need to leave the lobby in the direction of Kosygin Street, then go under the bridge to the end of the alley under it and turn right - there, along the slope of the Sparrow Hills, an equipped trail with steps and a log parapet. The trail goes up to Kosygin Street, where there are signs towards the site (one of them is located just at the end of the trail).

The trail to the observation deck of Vorobyovy Gory

The observation deck on Vorobyovy Gory is available around the clock and free of charge.

Vorobyovy Gory is mentioned in almost all the works where the story is about Moscow. Woland Bulgakova watched the ancient city from this wonderful observation point. You can see this place in films, but it's better to see it yourself. Vorobyovy Gory is filled with history and spirit of ancient times. They changed their name several times. In fact, these are not mountains, even on old maps they are Vorobyovy Kruchi, in Soviet times they became Lenin's, and now it is the Vorobyovy Gory park.

Not a single excursion around Moscow is complete without visiting them, there is an observation deck here, and from it an excellent view of the capital opens up.

Historical reference

There is no doubt that Sparrow Hills have been inhabited since ancient times. Since about the 2nd millennium, these lands have been mastered by man. This is evidenced by numerous archaeological finds, for example, stone tools were found under the building of Moscow State University. Also at different times arrowheads, various decorations, traces of settlements were found.

The name Vorobyovy Gory was given by one of the first owners of local villages, Kirill Voroba. The sparrow is a nickname, possibly derived from a tool of labor, a board that goes around on a nail. The villages changed owners many times, at one time there were royal estates here, and kings of different eras rested here, hid and made their plans.

Sparrow Hills in the 20th century and in our time

The village of Vorobyevo remained for quite a long time. Summer residents lived here, raised and kept tea houses for tourists. In 1924 the village consisted of 180 households and more than a thousand inhabitants.

Since 1917, local festivities with attractions, carousels, fairs, ice cream stands and waffles have been held on Vorobyovy Gory. After death, they began to call Lenin and even the nearest metro station was called that. It is located on the lower tier of the bridge. The station, like the bridge itself, was rebuilt and altered, for many years it was closed for use. Now the park on Vorobyovy Gory has its usual name.

The birth of the green zone

For several centuries, the capital's university asked for the territory of Vorobyovy Gory for its buildings and was invariably refused. Only under the rule of the Soviets in 1948 was permission obtained, and the construction of the building of the Moscow State University began. The houses of summer residents were demolished, and a botanical garden was grown near the university, the slopes were strengthened, the rugged bank of the Moskva River was straightened, in general, the territory was ennobled. This is how the park appeared.

Why visit the park

If you happen to be in Moscow, then in the list of places worth visiting, be sure to include the Vorobyovy Gory park. How to get there? This question has multiple correct answers. You can do it by metro, there is a station with the same name, not far from Frunzenskaya. If you prefer by car, there are enough parking spaces in front of the Moscow State University building on Kosygin Street.

Park "Vorobyovy Gory" is a protected area like green There are no cars driving here, only cyclists and pedestrians walking. The green zone has a total length of 10 km and stretches along the embankment. There is both a forest area and shady ponds, in good weather you can see local animals, especially squirrels. Here you can disconnect from the non-stop traffic of the capital, relax, breathe in the fresh air, listen to birdsong, enjoy the scent of lilacs, the bushes of which are planted along the embankment.

Near the observation deck there is a cafe where you can eat deliciously, and for those who like active recreation in the warm season, there is a bicycle rental service.

In addition to the observation deck and nature, there is a chairlift or funicular, where you can go down to the pier. A ski jump 72 meters long is open all year round. Near the observation deck is the Trinity Church, known for the fact that it was here that Kutuzov prayed before the Battle of Borodino. After enjoying the Sparrow Hills, you can take a pleasure boat at the pier and explore Moscow from the side of the river. And at the next opportunity, be sure to visit Vorobyovy Gory again.

Gorky Park

The famous nature reserve in Moscow is a desirable place for any developer, locals how can they oppose it. But not so long ago, the rights to it passed to the Park of Culture. M. Gorky. This greatly worried everyone, since the first actions on the part of the park's management were the construction of a fence around the perimeter of the nature reserve, and they also limited access for the regulars of the park, athletes, coaches and others. They built a buffet, closed one of the trampolines and destroyed the informal parking lot, which they had used for a long time and to which they were accustomed. And after rumors about an increase in the building height and the construction of an underground parking lot under the observation deck, residents began to write letters and complaints to the city administration.

People do not want changes, because they are not often for the better. Many are in favor of preserving a piece of nature, and not covering everything with an artificial lawn, conducting communications, and making large-scale lighting. How this story will end and whether the Vorobyovy Gory park will become another shopping and entertainment complex is still unknown. Let's hope for the best.
