Perfectly ironed uniforms, girls and young men always collected and polite. Even if you are afraid of flying, they help you remain calm and confident. The romance of flights and the profession of a flight attendant in today's everyday life of flights is still popular among school and university graduates. But what about the financial prospects and what is the salary of a flight attendant?

Criteria that determine a flight attendant's earnings

Before determining what the salary is for each employee, it is worth listing several factors that directly affect its level. Namely:

  • the country in which the person works, in particular its industrial level;
  • the degree of development of this industry;
  • the size and authority of the airline and the course it is pursuing to improve operating conditions;
  • route and type of flights;
  • level of education, and specifically knowledge of foreign languages;
  • experience.

Real salary of a flight attendant in Russia

As a flight attendant, you will undoubtedly climb the career ladder. A newcomer and anyone transferring from another airline have the same level of income.

Newly hired employees after specialized training have an initial level of earnings of 15-20 thousand rubles. per month. Gradually, as you master the profession, your experience and the number of hours in flight increase, therefore, your salary increases to an average of 50-60 thousand per month. Employees with the highest qualifications, over time, reach an earnings level of 80 to 100 thousand rubles. The payment for an hour in flight is about 4,000. In addition, some airlines create a system of bonuses for the quality of work performed.

The steps in assigning salary levels are determined as follows:

  • Level 1 – third class flight attendant (30 hours of flight time as a trainee);
  • Level 2 – second class flight attendant (2000 flight hours and passing the exam);
  • Level 3 – first class flight attendant (3000 hours in flight and absolute mastery of passenger service technology);
  • Level 4 – senior flight attendant;
  • Level 5 – head of service.

If you believe the statistics, approximately 60 thousand rubles per month are paid for the services of a guide in Russia. There is also an upward trend. It is not surprising that the city of Moscow has the highest average salary for a flight attendant – 64 thousand. However, there is a dependence of salaries on a specific airline.

Three companies have gained great popularity: Aeroflot, Transaero and UTair. Aeroflot, the largest in the airline industry, pays its employees more than Transaero and UTair.

As already mentioned, many airlines provide great opportunities for their employees and their families. This list first of all includes a colossal discount when purchasing tickets, up to a 5-fold reduction. Without a doubt, travel enthusiasts can consider these discounts as an addition to their salary. It can’t be done without a part-time job. Charter commercial flights ordered by large companies with higher prices. However, if the charter is booked for summer holiday, then this is also an opportunity for a free holiday in relation to the payment of the flight.

But in some airlines, even if they have the required number of flight hours, a flight attendant is not able to earn even the monthly minimum that is usually paid in the giants of the airline industry. Very often this can be seen in non-metropolitan companies that organize transportation between regional centers.

To fly or not to fly

The main disadvantage is the heavy load on the body when at altitude. This means being on your feet for a long time and a feeling of freedom, which makes it very difficult in the future to psychologically and physically adapt to the normal course of life. But all these and other provoking factors do not prevent the desire to occupy such a position.

The job of a flight attendant remains one of the most in demand and competitive, even despite all its complexity. What attracts potential employees to this position? First of all, flexible schedule, fairly long-term vacation, opportunity free travel Worldwide. Therefore, if routine office work is not to your taste, you should think about devoting yourself to the romance of flying.

Which airline's flight attendants are the most stylish among those serving Belarusian passengers? The portal asked this question immediately after the January premiere of the new form of the national operator Belavia. Readers of the portal have the opportunity to compare and make their choice.

It is curious that the previous uniform has served the flight attendants of the national airline of Belarus for the past three years. This is not much, especially considering that, for example, for the flight attendants of the Russian Aeroflot, the current wardrobe is the fourth in a row since 2000. And the Germans from Lufthansa change the uniform for stewards and pilots once every ten years.

So, who is the cutest and most elegant in the sky?

Austrian Airline (Austria)

Austrian Airlines AG is “assigned” to Vienna international airport and Innsbruck International Airport Kranebitten. It was created in 1957. Part of the shares of Austrian Airlines belongs to Lufthansa.

AirBaltic (Latvia)

Air Baltic Corporation is joint stock company with almost 20 years of history and the state as the main owner. In 2011, the carrier served more than 3.3 million passengers.

Czech Airlines (Czech Republic)

Deutsche Lufthansa AG is the largest airline in Europe, a German air transportation concern with headquarters in Cologne. It began its activities long before its official name - Lufthansa - in 1926. Currently it has a fleet of 350 aircraft that fly to more than 200 destinations.

Turkmenistan Airlines (Turkmenistan)

The airline "Turkmen Airlines" is owned by the state. The base airport is Ashgabat airport named after Saparmurat Turkmenbashi. According to its official data, it is the safest airline in Asia.

El Al (Israel)

El Al (“El Al”) is an Israeli airline formed in the late 1940s. After privatization in 2004, it ceased to be state-owned. A special feature of flying with this air carrier is the need to undergo profiling - an interview with an El Al security officer before boarding the plane, as well as additional control of baggage and hand luggage.

The uniform of local flight attendants is as strict as aviation regulations. But politeness is also at its best.

Georgian Airways (Georgia)

The airline was founded in 1993 as a private entity, initially bearing the name Airzena. Her specialization was charter flights to China, Egypt and other countries. In 1999, Airzena merged with Air Georgia, which, by the way, was the national carrier of Georgia. Later, this honorary title passed to Airzena Georgian Airways - this was the name of the newly formed airline. In 2004, the brand was shortened to Georgian Airways.

On this moment Georgian Airways employs 35 highly qualified flight attendants, whose average age is 28 years. The uniform of the crew members who interact directly with passengers is designed in the style of the Georgian national flag.

The flight attendants themselves note that they now remind themselves of American flight attendants of the 60s.

Belavia (Belarus)

The birthday of the National Airlines Belavia is officially considered March 5, 1996. When hiring flight attendant candidates, in addition to assessing their knowledge of foreign languages and external characteristics, they are tested for resistance to stress, the ability to find a way out of difficult situations, and even knowledge of etiquette.

By the beginning of 2013, 2 men's and 2 women's kits had been developed for the national air carrier. The traditional white-blue-turquoise uniform will be replaced by two options: the winter one is made in dark blue and red tones, and the summer one is made in white, gray and pink. The uniform includes a jacket, vest, blouse/shirt, skirt/pants, cap, apron, and neckerchief. A coat and a hat are provided for the winter season, and a raincoat for the summer season. Also in the summer, flight attendants will wear sundresses. Flight attendants are given special suitcases for transporting personal belongings.

The profession of flight attendants is still considered romantic, however, in reality it is hard work with physical and psychological stress. Despite this, the vacancy of a flight attendant remains one of the most competitive among applicants. So, how much do flight attendants earn at different airlines and how great are the risks of such a profession?

Of course, if you compare the salaries of Russian flight attendants and those who work in foreign airlines, the difference will be impressive. The highest salaries for flight attendants are in the following countries:

  • Australia;
  • England.

Salaries in airlines in these countries range from $3,500 to $4,000. However, such amounts are not the upper ceiling for the employee. Some flight attendants can earn more than $10,000. In many ways, such large salary amounts are determined by several factors:

  • work on private flights;
  • work in elite airlines.

Of course, along with a higher salary, more skills and craftsmanship are required from a flight attendant. Beginners shouldn’t even count on such work; this is the job of professionals with impeccable recommendations.

According to world statistics, the highest salaries are paid to employees of Southwest Airlines and US Airways.

As for Russia, flight attendants working on foreign flights earn much more than those who fly only domestic routes. The requirements for flight attendants on international airlines are often much higher and include not only impeccable professional skills and good knowledge in English, but also certain correspondences of external data. The flight attendant must have an attractive appearance, have no visible flaws and wear clothes no larger than size 46.

Before moving on to more detailed figures, you first need to find out the criteria that make up the salary of a flight attendant. The size of the salary, regardless of the airline, primarily depends on:

  • airline rating;
  • domestic or international flights;
  • number of flights;
  • work experience in the profession;
  • education (linguistic, pedagogical or psychological will be an advantage);
  • knowledge of foreign languages at a conversational level;
  • class of service.

It affects monthly earnings and the level of board; business class flights are always more expensive, unlike economic ones. However, serious airlines do not accept newcomers without work experience, even with an impeccable education, on prestigious flights; business class passengers are served by top-level flight attendants.

Salaries are affected not only by the level of the airline, but also by the region of residence. In Moscow and St. Petersburg, salaries, even within the same airline, are usually higher than in other Russian cities.

So, what is the average salary of flight attendants in Russian airlines? Beginning flight attendants have 3rd class and trainee status, their salary is small and amounts to about 15-20 thousand rubles. Over time, when the skill in the profession and the number of flights increase, the salary will be 50-50 thousand. 1st class conductors can receive up to 100 thousand rubles per month. According to statistics, the highest salary was 120,000 rubles. And this is not counting various allowances and bonuses for the quality of work. In some airlines, flight attendants, in addition to their basic salary, receive a percentage of on-board sales (from 3 to 5%).

In addition to high salaries, flight attendants may have various benefits:

  • increased vacation time (up to 42 days);
  • discounts up to 90% on employee flights as a passenger on airline aircraft;
  • free flight to any country in the world once a year;
  • salary supplement for the provision of additional services;
  • discounts on hotel accommodation in countries where planes fly on business flights, etc.

Of course, various bonuses depend only on how the employee performs his duties. The more hours spent in flight, the more allowances and bonuses you can count on.

This company has the highest salaries for staff compared to other carriers. Even the minimum salary for a newbie here is higher than the salary of an experienced flight attendant at other airlines.

When applying for a job at Aeroflot, you can expect a salary of 40,000 rubles, while personnel officers indicate this amount as the minimum for newcomers. Over time, when a flight attendant flies a sufficient number of hours to improve her qualifications, her salary will also increase - up to $1,800 per month.

Watch the video of one day at work as an Aeroflot flight attendant:

The earnings of flight attendants flying S7 flights depend on the standard requirements for the profession - level of education, length of service, class of service, etc. However, the salary of S7 flight attendants is lower and on average varies from 25 to 70 thousand rubles, depending on length of service.

The requirements for employees are practically no different from those imposed by other companies. However, flight attendants can work at UTair without a university degree, the minimum threshold is 11 classes high school or similar education.

Employee training is carried out at the expense of the airline. The salary of flight attendants at UTair is lower than at Aeroflot and S7. On average, a flight attendant can expect a salary of 30,000 rubles.

Flight attendants in Pobeda earn slightly less compared to Aeroflot, on average about 50 thousand rubles. The airline offers training in the profession of flight attendant with the issuance of relevant documents based on the results of the study. When applying for a flight attendant position at Pobeda, it is worth considering that the company hires girls from 165 cm, which is determined by the model of the aircraft on which the flights are made.

As in any other country in the world, the salary of flight attendants in Kazakhstan depends on the rating status of the airline, class of transportation, region, etc. The requirements for future employees are standard:

  • age up to 35 years;
  • height from 160 cm;
  • pretty appearance;
  • knowledge of languages, including Kazakh;
  • stress resistance.

The average monthly salary for a flight attendant ranges from $800 to $1,600. The most rated airlines in Kazakhstan, where you can count on the highest salaries, are Air Astana and Euro-Asia Air.

No matter how tempting the salaries and prospects may be, before you decide to come for an interview with an airline, you should consider the advantages and disadvantages of your chosen profession. The obvious advantages of working as a flight attendant include:

  • spectacular appearance;
  • flexible work schedule;
  • high salary;
  • long vacation (in some companies up to 70 days);
  • the opportunity to visit different cities and countries for free;
  • benefits and bonuses;
  • receiving additional income from sales and tips.

As for the disadvantages, the main disadvantage of working as a flight attendant is the high physical load. The point is not only that the profession requires constant work on your feet, the constant change of time zones and overload during the flight also do not have a positive effect on your health.

Diseases associated with blood vessels and the heart are considered “occupational” among flight attendants.

Flight attendants retire early, at 45 years old. Whether this is considered a plus or a minus is up to everyone to determine for themselves. However, when trying to find a new job after years spent on board an airplane, former flight attendants face psychological difficulties. After a flexible schedule and relative freedom, it is difficult to adapt to the requirements of “earthly” vacancies.

A disadvantage for women in working as a flight attendant may be the inability to bear a child. Overload on an airplane leads to miscarriages, so if you plan to have children, you need to cancel flights in advance to prepare your body. Also, a flexible work schedule complicates personal life - few men would agree to live with a woman who is constantly not at home.

Despite the heavy physical activity and risks, the profession of a flight attendant still attracts young girls and boys; stewards and stewardesses do not consider their profession more dangerous than others. Performing duties on top level and the desire to constantly improve in your chosen profession will open the door to high prospects and the coveted six-figure salaries.

On October 31, Utair airline presented an updated brand and the first 737-800 aircraft in the company’s new livery.

The presentation took place at Vnukovo Airport with the participation of airport representatives, journalists and bloggers.

“Utair is one of the leaders in the Russian aviation industry with 50 years of experience. We are trusted by major oil and gas companies and the United Nations. Our aviators were the first in the world to fly on a Mi-26 helicopter to the North Pole and tested Mil helicopters and an Il-76 aircraft. A lot has changed in 50 years. It’s time for Utair to change too,” commented Andrey Martirosov, CEO of Utair airline.

“The new brand is an expression of Utair’s new strategy and priorities. Soon all components of the company's service will change. Our key priorities are the development of the hub in Vnukovo (the number of daily flights from the airport increased by 15% compared to 2016), digital channels, which provide us with over a third of our sales, and the principle of the travel designer, which allows passengers to independently create the composition of services transportation," added Pavel Permyakov, president of Utair - Passenger Airlines.

“What matters to passengers is not the flight, but what awaits them upon arrival. And therefore, Utair’s mission is to bring people together, making aviation simple, transparent and convenient. This commitment is embedded in the new brand and its clean, uncluttered style. Simplicity is conveyed by the new font and layout; the brand name is a metaphor for the aircraft's trail and movement; The corporate colors – blue and white – are reminiscent of aviation. We remain true to tradition: the brand name and the concept of its color design have not changed,” said Alina Shcherbinina, vice president of marketing at Utair – Passenger Airlines.

The new design was developed by the Friends Moscow agency. By the end of 2018, the aircraft fleet will be repainted, the website will be updated, mobile app, uniforms for pilots and flight attendants, all company services will be released in a new image.

Airline Utair accounts for 60% of the turnover of the large international aviation group UTair, operating on four continents. The UTair Group includes companies operating aircraft (planes and helicopters), as well as companies for aircraft repair and maintenance, personnel training, flight maintenance and air transportation sales. The group includes the companies UTair - Helicopter Services, Turukhan, Vostok, UTair CJSC, Helisur, Utair Europe, Utair South Africa, Utair India, TS Technik, UTair-Engineering, Ural Aviation services", "UTG" and others.

Utair airline occupies 7.4% of the market air transportation in Russia (3% per international routes and 10% on domestic Russian routes, according to Rosaviation data for January – August 2016). It is consistently among the top five largest airlines in Russia in terms of passenger air transportation.

Utair airline, unlike its competitors, is part of an aviation group with extensive competencies in the helicopter, ground and educational segments. The airline operates flights from the capital's Vnukovo Airport, as well as a number of regional flights.

Flight attendants are traditionally considered the face of the airline, and the carrier’s reputation largely depends on their appearance. Therefore, while developing, the company cares not only about replenishing the fleet and expanding the staff, but also about improving the uniform of flight attendants, its uniqueness and exclusivity. AviaPort asked Russian and foreign carriers what they dress their flight attendants in.

A flight attendant's uniform should not only be beautiful and stylish, but also comfortable and practical. At the same time, the uniform should emphasize the individuality of both an individual person and the entire company as a whole! It is the employer’s task to provide the employee with such a uniform. Companies order development from a studio or from a designer, but in most companies the final version of the form is approved directly by the CEO.

As a rule, new uniforms are issued every two to three years. The kits depend on the season: a number of carriers are limited to winter and summer options, many also introduce a demi-season uniform for flight attendants.

Our style

Aeroflot has uniforms for women in two colors: navy - a winter version and red mandarin - a summer version. Clothing sets for men are made in dark blue for winter and summer wardrobe. The color of the uniform matches the company's corporate colors. One set of clothes includes almost 20 items. The manufacturer is the St. Petersburg company BTK Group, and the design was developed in 2009 by designers Y. Bunakova and E. Khokhlov. “Women and men are given one set, which includes a summer set for two years and a winter set for three years. The cost of a women’s set is 63,274.2 rubles, a men’s set is 50,804.5 rubles,” noted an Aeroflot representative ". But flight attendants purchase shoes, suitcases and accessories at their own expense.

Rossiya Airlines is currently finishing the introduction of new uniforms, which the BTK Group company also worked on. The uniform is close to a business suit: the combination of a strict dark blue jacket and skirt/pants with a white shirt is considered classic. The design of the uniform is a continuation of the company’s corporate style, so it reflects corporate colors and design elements. Flight attendants are issued one set of uniform. The form is updated every two years. The uniform is tailored for each employee, based on preliminary measurements, and is personal, containing a tag with the first and last name.

One of the important functions of fabric for corporate clothing is increased abrasion resistance. Therefore, for suiting products, BTK used wool-blend, bi-elastic fabric with a twill weave (gabardine). This is considered the optimal composition for corporate clothing.

Corporate accessories are also provided. It is allowed to wear a wedding ring or a thin chain. Wearing jewelry and large jewelry is not encouraged, but wearing a watch, on the contrary, is mandatory. “In case of loss of a sign or badge, the company provides the flight attendant with a replacement, but systematic loss/damage entails spending the employee’s own funds,” says Marina Peshekhonova, head of the public relations department of Rossiya Airlines.

The uniform of UTair airline employees is divided into winter, summer, and demi-season (autumn-spring). A summer uniform set for women consists of a black uniform coat, a three-piece suit, which includes a jacket, vest, skirt or trousers, as well as a short-sleeve blouse and scarf (crepe); The men's uniform consists of a cap, a raincoat, a two-piece suit, a shirt with shoulder straps and a tie. Winter and demi-season uniforms also include hats and outerwear. The company also said that employees will have to refrain from large accessories.

The uniform of flight attendants of Ural Airlines is made in the corporate color scheme. The uniform is designed and sewed by the Technoavia company; it is sewn in Yekaterinburg.

“Flight attendants represent the company, so appearance plays a huge role: everything must be neat, in strict accordance with the company’s style,” the carrier’s press service said. When developing the form, the opinion of flight attendants is necessarily taken into account, but the final version is personally approved by the airline’s General Director Sergei Skuratov.

The uniform set includes: a uniform suit (jacket, vest, trousers, skirt, two blouses), a sundress-apron, a demi-season raincoat, a winter coat, a scarf, an airline sign, uniform shoes for the cabin - two pairs of shoes (for the stage of meeting and seating passengers - with a heel of at least 7 cm, at the stage of horizontal flight - with a heel of at least 3 cm). The male flight attendant uniform includes a trouser suit, shirt, tie, tie clip with company logo, uniform cap, for the winter season: down jacket and uniform.

Flight attendants" Ural Airlines“receive several options for uniforms, which can be easily combined depending on the season. Summer option forms are conventionally considered: skirt, blouse, vest and jacket; demi-season: trouser suit and raincoat. Uniforms are issued every two years, warm clothes - every three years.

Yakutia Airlines is currently updating its flight attendant uniforms; its design and equipment will change. The introduction of the new form will begin in the first half of July. The uniform was designed and sewn in Krasnodar. Airline employees created a special commission that controlled the process of developing the design of a new flight attendant uniform.

The new uniform design was developed separately for the winter and summer seasons. The flight attendant uniform for the spring-summer period includes: a blouse, a sundress, a jacket, a raincoat and a neckerchief. All uniform elements are made in white and purple colors, on the neckerchief there is a design with a national Yakut pattern. The uniform for the autumn-winter period will include: blouse, skirt, jacket, scarf, coat. The airline's corporate colors were chosen for this kit - blue and white. In addition, the uniform is supplied with an apron for serving passengers during the provision of in-flight meals. The suit for male flight attendants includes: trousers, jacket, shirt with short and long sleeves.

Female flight attendants are issued one set of uniforms for the spring-summer and autumn-winter periods. Each set includes 2 replacement shirts. For male flight attendants, one set of uniform and outerwear is provided for each period.

The uniform includes accessories such as a neckerchief for female flight attendants, a tie for male flight attendants and a name badge. The inscription on the badge is made in the airline's signature font, and the Yakut ornament is applied to the scarf. The use of personal accessories by flight attendants is not permitted. It is possible to wear watches, jewelry: earrings and rings in a discreet official style.

Neighborhood style

The uniform of Armavia flight attendants is in heavenly shades - gray-blue. According to the carrier's press service, a new form is issued every two years. Thus, last summer season Armavia introduced new uniform for flight attendants - the design has undergone significant changes and has become more stylish and modern.

"The designers have created an advanced the lineup- summer, demi-season and winter uniforms of various configurations. This takes a lot of time, and what is important is finance. Before starting to develop models, the technical requirements for fabrics, the specific working conditions of flight attendants are carefully analyzed, and ideas are selected, comfortable and practical models are thought out that distinguish the Armavia uniform and create a current and stylish image of flight attendants,” the company reported. The company also noted that the company’s management also takes an active part in the discussion of models. “And therefore, as they say, the truth is born in a dispute,” the Armavia press service notes.

The following corporate accessories are issued: ties, hats, scarves, tie pins, badges with the Armavia logo, aprons, pilot cases.

Georgian Airways flight attendant uniforms are updated every three years. The men's uniform includes: jacket, trousers, two shirts, badge (emblem). The women's uniform includes a jacket, vest, trousers, skirt, shirt, and headscarf. Georgian Airways corporate accessories are not provided. The use of personal accessories is permitted, with some restrictions.

According to the deputy head of the flight attendant service at Belavia Airlines, Ruslan Prilepsky, the appearance of flight attendants pleases the eye, inspires confidence in safety, and shapes the image of the airline. The flight attendant uniform is updated every 3 years. Consists of almost 30 elements. Now they are planning to introduce a new form developed by the Belarusian designer Elvira Zhvikova. The competition to sew a new uniform was won by the Moscow company "Galaktika".

This time it was decided to develop and produce two completely different versions of uniforms for winter and summer. The winter uniform maintains the corporate style and colors of navy blue, red and white. Summer uniform is a figment of the designer's imagination. Both winter and summer uniforms are complemented by corporate symbols in the form of badges, pass holders and name badges. The suit buttons and belt buckle also bear the airline logo. Each employee receives one set of uniforms for winter and summer. Flight attendants wear basic elements such as outerwear and the suits themselves for three years; accessories such as ties, scarves, mufflers, shirts and blouses are changed once a year. In this case, part of the cost of the uniform is paid by the flight attendants themselves.

Foreign things

The current Emirates cabin crew uniform was introduced in 2008 and the airline works closely with the manufacturer to improve small elements where the need arises.

The women's uniform features an elegant beige jacket with pinstripes in chocolate and red, a cream blouse with red trim, and a pleated skirt with red accents or trousers. The signature element of the Emirates flight attendant uniform is a red headdress with an elegant white scarf.
