Haad Rin is a beach village on the island of Koh Phangan (Thailand), home to the world famous Full Moon Party ( Full Moon Party). Located on a cape at the southernmost tip of Koh Phangan. This is one of the few beaches on the island where you can safely swim during the dry season.

How to get there

Fire shows

Besides the music and beach bars, another famous feature of Haad Rin is the spectacular fire shows. They are usually shown in front of the Cactus bar and Drop-In bar. Thais masterfully perform spectacular stunts that delight the crowd. Many tourists themselves take daytime Thai lessons, and in the evening personally demonstrate their skills in front of spectators. Thick ropes twisted around a stick are soaked in diesel fuel, which when burned releases a cloud of toxic gases, so don't stand downwind during the show. Fire shows are free to attend; if you liked them, you can reward the participants with a tip.

Full Moon Party

The Full Moon Party lasts three days in Haad Rin: on the night of the full moon, one day before and one day after the full moon every month throughout the year. It mainly attracts Western tourists.

The first party took place in 1985, when a small group of people noticed that the most beautiful full moon could be seen from Koh Phangan. About 20-30 people took part then. The party soon gained fame, and now attracts a crowd of 10 to 30 thousand participants every month. This is one of the most famous beach parties in the world. It begins in the evening, lasts all night and ends with sunrise. Thai and foreign DJs from all over the world play various types of music: psychedelic trance, rhythm and blues, drum and bass, house, reggae. The party is accompanied by colorful fire shows and massive consumption of alcohol and drugs. There are many bars along the beach to hang out with friends or meet people from all over globe. The Full Moon Party can rightfully be considered the most famous event in the world of dance culture.

If you find yourself in Haad Rin not during the full moon, don’t worry, there are other parties here: Half Moon (2 times a month), Black Moon, Shiva Moon, Jungle Experience.

Full Moon Party: Helpful Tips

A party attended by up to 30,000 young people fueled by alcohol and drugs cannot proceed without problems. Not everyone will leave this party with pleasant memories. In most cases, this happens because not everyone adheres to the basic rules of the festival. A wonderful party will no longer be so the next morning when you find yourself without money and a passport. What you need to know before attending the Full Moon Party.

Housing

Don't think you can arrive the day before the party and still get a room in Haad Rin hotels or nearby places. Most participants reserve rooms or bungalows at least a week before the party (or even earlier).

The full moon party is the most popular night for break-ins, thieves break into the bungalow and steal all the valuables. At many resorts, valuables can be left in safes, but there have already been cases of theft from them. Try to stay in more expensive hotels if you can afford it (e.g. Paradise Bungalow). Alternatively, skip Haad Rin and experience the festivities on a boat tour from Koh Samui. Similar tours are organized by the company http://grandseatours.com/, details on this page

Alcohol

Without booze, any party turns into a dull event. Consider the following points if you plan to drink a lot of alcohol.
Don't drive. There are thousands of alcohol-related accidents on Koh Phangan. Mainly because tourists drink a lot of alcohol and then drive rented scooters.

Don't swim. Don't swim while drunk. Even if you want to go for a swim at Haad Rin Beach, think about the hundreds of drunken participants relieving their bladders in the sea during the party.

Drugs

Although drugs are consumed by many partygoers, Thai laws regarding drug use are very strict. The party is inspected by police officers in disguise; drug dealers can even hand over their clients to the police.

Other tips

Don't go barefoot, be sure to wear shoes. In the morning after the party, there will be thousands of empty bottles lying on the beach. Watch the glass to avoid cutting your feet on broken beer bottles.
Try not to bring money in a bag or wallet.
In recent years there has been an increase in the number of attacks and robberies. Don't return from a party in the dark alone, leave it with friends.
Do not accept any alcoholic drinks or food from strangers whom you do not know and cannot trust.

Beach bars

The main nightlife in Haad Rin is concentrated on the beach area. Beach bars Drop-In Bar and Cactus Bar attract the largest crowds, offering discounts on drinks and fire shows.

Tommy Bar. Tommy Bar is part of the Tommy Resort. On the second floor there is an open-air dining area, a calm atmosphere reigns downstairs, visitors sip cocktails and watch what is happening around them. All this does not apply on the day of the full moon, when musical chaos and general drinking reigns. Address: 90/13 Haad Rin East.

Reggae House. Along the street near the police station is the Reggae House. The bar features a concrete statue of Bob Marley and also offers free consultations for those wishing to get a traditional Thai tattoo.

Accommodation

A week before the Half Moon Party or Full Moon Party, hotels in Haad Rin and the immediate surroundings are already booked. Alternatively, you can use hotels in remote areas of Koh Phangan. Hotels in other parts of the island are much cheaper.

Hotels along the beaches and in the pier area

Haad Rin Beach on Koh Phangan was our first beach on this island. Our acquaintance with Phangan began from Haad Rin Beach. We read that Haad Rin is the main beach of Koh Phangan, since the Full Moon Party takes place here, so it is crowded, there is infrastructure, a lot of shops and cafes. An atmospheric place with a diverse audience, for whom Koh Phangan is like a magnet.

Haad Rin beach: beach overview

All of the above turned out to be true, but we did not suspect the fact that Haad Rin beach would sink into our souls so much. But as I learned from my own experience, on days when there is no Full Moon Party, Had Rin Beach is almost deserted. This is also one of the best places for swimming on the island.

Hadrin Phangan

This is what Hadrin Beach looks like in these photos on the right side. Swimming is not allowed here due to the boats and rocky bottom. It is best to go swimming in the left half of the beach.

Photo of Had Rin in the southern (right) part

To explore Had Rin beach, we stayed in an inexpensive hotel. This hotel is located right on the first line, but on the right side of the beach. For swimming in the sea, we went to the left side - there is an ideal bottom and clear blue water!

Photo: Haad Rin beach in the northern (left) part

As soon as we walked onto the beach from our hotel, we gasped. Don't think, not out of delight. In the first minute we saw that already at 11 am the tide began to ebb and exposed the rocky bottom. Later we learned that the tides on Koh Phangan are almost always low in the summer.

In the southern part of Haad Rin there are taxi-boats and a rocky bottom

Ten more motor boats hanging out. But after walking a little along the beach, since we came out at the very beginning, we were already photographing every meter, so we wanted to capture all this Phangan beauty with a camera.

The northern part of Had Rin is quiet and serene

Had Rin (or as it is also called Rinnok beach from the words Haad Rin Nok) is not considered among tourists best beach on the island of Koh Phangan, but for us it was a real find! The beach creates the effect of a large space, but in reality it is modest in size, slightly less than a kilometer. Relaxing on it is cozy and more than pleasant.

Shadow

The coastline is so wide that even with a large number of vacationers there will not be crowding. There are places with natural shade throughout the day. There is not much shade on Haad Rin. It is mainly available right next to the hotels on the first line. By the way, the peculiarity of Koh Phangan is the opportunity to live in good hotel 3-4 stars right on the beach for around 1500 baht ($50) per day.

Sand and sea at Haad Rin

And what sand there is! He conquered from the first steps. Snow-white, clean, small. Everything we like. Just as cool as the island we were on recently. And most importantly, the sea at Haad Rin beach is beyond all expectations. If you have any. The sea is so blue, so clean and transparent. You can get stuck for 3 hours and not leave the water. Which is what we do every day.

The bottom of Haad Rin is sandy. No shells or small stones underfoot. Only rarely does nipping plankton occur. There are no waves on the beach in summer, which is more suitable than ever for all lovers of relaxation in the water. These are the kind of beaches that islands should have. Beaches that you don’t want to leave, but want to return to all the time.

Small lookout on Haad Rin

In a half-abandoned bar in the north of the beach, on a small hill near the stones, a panorama of the entire Had Rin opens up.

The tides are already low in the morning, but this does not interfere with swimming

Where can I order a transfer from the airport?

We use the service - KiwiTaxi
We ordered a taxi online and paid by card. We were met at the airport with a sign with our name on it. We were taken to the hotel in a comfortable car. You've already talked about your experience In this article.

Haad Rin - the most party beach on Koh Phangan

Despite the fact that Haad Rin is the very beach of the Food Moon Party and therefore it is recognized as the center of life for all of Koh Phangan, we would never have thought so. Yes, there is everything to hang around forever, but there are very few people. Tourists, who are mostly European youth aged 20-25, behave with dignity. Some play volleyball, some play with dogs, some just sunbathe. Calm and quiet. And it is always so calm here, except for a few days when the Full Moon Party is held on this beach.

Imagine that Haad Rin beach on Koh Phangan is not even among the top three most beautiful beaches in Koh Phangan for many, but we liked it so much. Our feedback about Haad Rin will be only positive. What beaches will be next if the “ordinary” beach of the island made the best impression on us

Evening life and discos on the beach

As you know, the world-famous Full Moon Parties are held on Haad Rin beach. Then thousands of teenagers from all over the world hang out on the beach until the morning. Such parties take place once a month on the day of the full moon. But what about other days? In the evening, there are several cafes on the shore with music and flashlights. Also, bars by the sea hold daily discos even on ordinary days. So, for those who like to party, Haad Rin is an ideal place. But if, on the contrary, you want privacy and silence, it is better to choose other beaches. See our article -.

Haad Rin is located on the island of Ko Pha Ngan off the coast of Thailand. Best known for his Full Moon Parties.

Haad Rin is fairly small to walk around, although to get to some of the resorts on the coast you'll have to consider riding a motorbike. Motorcycle rentals are very common here. At the same time, road traffic here is minimal, since the hills around Haad Rin are quite steep, and it would not be wise to try to conquer them without experience. Resorts provide transportation to and from the pier: minibuses, shuttle pickups and motorcycles.

How to get there

On the boat

From Ko Samui: At least three ferries depart from Ko Samui every day, from the pier at Big Buddha(Big Buddha) straight to Haad Rin.

On a route pickup

Minibus taxis on the island are a pickup truck with an awning and benches; this is the official form of taxi and costs about 100 baht per trip. You may want to consider pre-purchasing a return ticket after the party to avoid overcharging that drivers may charge drunk tourists in the early morning hours.

Get to your destination without transfers. When traveling with fellow travelers, you don't have to worry about queues and hours spent waiting at the station.

Safety

Be very careful about where you sleep and where you store your belongings if you are attending the Full Moon Party, as thieves break into many people's bungalows during this time each month and steal valuables. At many resorts and in the city itself you can use luggage storage, but there have been cases of theft from there too. Try to find a place where you can put up your own padlock, or stay at a more expensive hotel if you can afford it. Alternatively, consider staying outside of Ko Pha Ngan - you can take a boat from Ko Samui to the party. If your things have already been stolen, be prepared to stand in line the next day to report the theft to the police department and pay for the report if you need it for insurance.

A week before the Full-Moon party and the Half-Moon party, all hotels in Haad Rin and surrounding areas are filled to capacity, and the number of people on the beaches increases greatly, and the most comfortable places are dealt with first. If you plan to arrive during this time, then find a place outside of Haad Rin and take a taxi there and back. Rooms on the other side of the island are not only cheaper, but also quieter.

Haad Rin Nok is the same beach where the monthly Full Moon Party takes place, parties that have long been sensational outside of Koh Phangan, Samui and the entire Kingdom of Thailand. In fact, FullMoon Party, developed infrastructure and sunrises are the only things that distinguish this ordinary beach, without any special natural splendor, from dozens of the same ones on Koh Phangan.

It has the hospital's average length, width and depth. Located on the most southern point islands and faces east, so for night party makers the party always ends grandly with the dawn sun.

In this part of Koh Phangan there is a long cape that stretches from north to south, towards Koh Samui. The very tip of this cape is high hills with rocky steep banks. Between it and the main island a kind of flat surface has formed, an isthmus, on the sides of which there are two beaches: Haad Rin Nok and.

Haad Rin Nok is east beach, shorter, about 600 meters long. It is bordered along the edges by steep rocky shores and can only be reached from the sea or by road from Tong Sala.

Entering the water, depth and waves

The entire beach is covered with grayish-yellow, flour-fine sand. On the flanks of the beach and in the surf, the sea washed up large fragments of shells and corals, pebbles and just very coarse sand, but these are isolated areas of Had Rin.

In general, it’s fine, fluffy sand, which, when wet, is compressed into a perfectly flat, dense surface on which sometimes it even hurts to walk barefoot; your heels feel like they’re hitting asphalt.

Together with the barely noticeable slope of the coast, the beach at low tide turns into an excellent walking track about fifty meters wide. In some places the bottom is so flat that puddles of sea water remain on the shore. The shallow water is such that you have to walk to shoulder depth (even at high tide) about 30 meters from the shore, and waves occur only during high tide and with a fair wind.

You can also catch waves closer to the edges of the beach, where it becomes a little deeper. The bottom of Had Rin is perfectly clean, without stones or other solid troubles. And it should be noted that when high water Yes, at noon, the color of the sea on Haad Rin deserves special attention from amateur photographers.

Not far from Haad Rin Nok, in a cozy bay under Cape Laem Ta To, there is a beach called Haad Khontee. In general, I would like to make a separate post about it, but I only saw it while driving along the sea and only through a camera lens.

So at the end of Haad Rin's photo you can look at a couple of images lost world. The sea there is not swimmable, there are a lot of stones at the bottom. The beach is also like that, more for the surroundings than for a carefree vacation, but some people like it just like that, wild.

Sunbeds and shade

There are many trees on the beach, especially on the left side. The center of Haad Rin Nok is wider and more open, and shade can only be obtained from single huge trees or palm trees that grow in the private areas of the resorts. But as I said, Haad Rin is a beach on the eastern side of the island.

Therefore, the sun is hot here until noon, and then it begins to go to the west and the shadow from private trees creeps onto the public beach, so that closer to lunch you will have more than enough shady areas for shelter. I didn’t notice any sunbeds on Had Rin.

Infrastructure

The beach infrastructure corresponds to its status - the number one party spot on Koh Phangan. Therefore, the entire isthmus is a labyrinth of buildings of different heights, where you can find absolutely all types of services, from rentals to medical care.

There are chain mini-markets, bank branches, ATMs, massage parlors and travel agencies, guesthouses, fruit shops, cafeterias different countries and different price categories. The first line is occupied by resorts and hotels of various sizes.

Houses and hotels on the beach

There are really a lot of accommodation options, from the most chip options with rooms for a group, to hotels with completely non-budget rooms. Based personal experience and reviews from people I know, it makes sense to book accommodation in one of these hotels/resorts for the long term:

Be sure (and I insist) to check for discounts or special offers on a great service. It will quickly and easily show you discounts in all existing booking systems. In Asia, for example, there are a lot of offers on Agoda.com, which are much more interesting than for exactly the same hotels on Booking.com.

How to find the beach

Below on the map, I marked with a special brown marker a corner mini-market, near which you need to turn left to get to Haad Rin Nok beach. The main road in this part of Phangan looks like an ordinary secondary concrete road, so the turn will not be obvious and it is better to remember the landmark. Next, drive all the way until a parking lot full of bikes appears. The place is popular, so the closer to the sea, the less free parking space, especially cars. Keep this in mind.

Ample parking space

Close to Koh Samui, among the waters of the Gulf of Thailand is located an amazing paradise of Thailand - the island of Koh Phangan. Numerous beaches and untouched nature have made it a resort of world importance. Many people know about the island thanks to it, which is held regularly on the day of the full moon. Most of Koh Phangan is hilly with wild, delightful vegetation. In order for a visit to the island to bring a lot of positive emotions, you need to choose the right vacation spot. Let's look at the main beaches of Koh Phangan, which are very popular among visitors.

One of the most attractive beaches of the island of Koh Phangan, which is located in its southern part on a small peninsula, is Haad Rin Nok. This real paradise for romantics, as hundreds of vacationers come here to enjoy the morning sunrise and evening sunset. Its length is about 800 meters and in absolutely all places it is covered with snow-white sand. The only drawback of the beach is the sharp depth of the sea, which makes it inconvenient for families with children. Within its boundaries is concentrated most of bars and clubs throughout Koh Phangan, and what brings it fame is the Full Moon Party, which has been held here since 1985.

The beach is ideal for those who love fun and active nightlife. You can get to it from the pier by taxi for 200 baht. If you want to stay near Haad Rin beach, then I advise you to pay attention to the Neptune’s Villa 3* hotel or the cozy Little Paradise guest house.

Haad Leela Beach

Not far from the well-known Haad Rik Nok beach there is a slightly smaller beach called Haad Leela. Peace and quiet reign here. The coast offers wonderful views of evening sunsets, and on top of that, it is recognized as one of the most photogenic on the entire island.

Snow-white sands combined with rocky terrain do not leave anyone indifferent. In addition, within Haad Leela there are many observation platforms, from the tops of which you can view all the surroundings.

The type of hotels within the beach is very diverse, ranging from luxurious apartments such as Cocohut Beach Resort and Surikantang Resort, ending with modest bungalows located right on the shore.

Baan Tai Beach

Phangan beach called Baan Tai not particularly popular among vacationers, even though it is located almost in the southernmost part of the island. Every day it is subject to strong low tides, during which the water can recede up to 200 meters. Due to this, the sea here is relatively shallow, and there is a lot of natural debris on the shore.

All these facts are reflected in the pricing policy of the beach. There are few high-class hotels here, and accommodation is available mainly in small bungalows and hostels. The most luxurious hotels on Ban Tai beach are Chantaramas Resort & Spa 4* and The Bay Resort & Restaurant 3*. Among the budget options, I can recommend the Sunsea Resort 2* hotel and the Baan Klong House guest house.

The most common time to stay in Baan Tai is during the full moon parties, when all the hotels on Haad Rik Nok Beach are full. A week before the island's main party, the Full Moon Festival is held on Baan Tai Beach.

Thong Sala Beach

Tong Sala is the central city of Koh Phangan. This is a great place for those who like to have fun, visit clubs and discos. The main part of vacationers are young people. Within the beach there is a large pier, which is designed to accommodate large ferries. This is where you come when you sail to Koh Phangan. The beach infrastructure is developed at high level: There are numerous exchange offices, shops, and you can rent a car or bike. In the evening, the Thai market opens. In addition to various clothes and souvenirs, you can taste dishes here national cuisine.

Thong Sala Beach is not the cleanest in all of Koh Phangan, as it is characterized by regular low tides. But, even despite this fact, tourists come here all year round, and hotels are almost never empty. The most popular hotels near the pier are The Nidhra Boutique Resort 3*, Angkana Hotel Bungalows 3*, V-View Beach Resort 2*, Sabaii Bay Resort Guest House and Phatchara Boutique Hotel.

Wok Tum Beach

One of the longest beaches of Koh Phangan is Wok Tum, its length is several kilometers. It is not crowded here, since the beach is not particularly popular among vacationers. In the southern vicinity of the beach there is a pier for fishermen, and literally 300 meters from the shore you can see a coral reef. Wok Tum Beach is surrounded by numerous mangrove trees.

This beach is the best place For romantic walks and watching sunsets. At low tide they appear here local residents who come here to collect shells and other living creatures. In the evening, the water on Wok Tum beach goes quite far and it is inconvenient to swim in it. Therefore this beach is not suitable for beach holiday.

Many Thais live near Wok Tum Beach. There is a lot of cheap housing here. The most popular hotels are Baan Manali Resort 3*, Grand Sea Beach Resort 3*, and budget options include Colorful Hut Guest House and Moon Beach Resort.

Sri Thanu Beach

Those who want to plunge into the depth of traditions and life of the Thai people should visit Sri Thanu beach. Located within the beach wonderful lake Laem Son, which is famous for its water activities. The second attraction of the beach is the village of Baan Sri Thanu, where the life that existed on the entire island long before tourism began to develop here reigns.

The infrastructure on the beach is well developed, there is everything necessary for life and recreation. Travelers who come to St. Petersburg like to stay here. The beach has White sand, and a lighthouse was built not far from it. You can swim here even at low tide, as the water does not go far. In the northern part of Sri Thanu there are numerous comfortable hotels, such as Loyfa Natural Resort 3* and Phangan Akuna 3*.

Haad Yao Beach

Haad Yao located on the southern side of Cape Lem Nokrong. Thanks to the rocky area, the beach is isolated from the rest, which gives it additional mystery. Haad Yao is a bay with white sands.

You can get to it by boat, but if you wish, you will have the opportunity to walking tour through the jungle of the island. The length of this trail is about 8 km.

Haad Yao is a great place for those who want to retire and enjoy heavenly holiday. It is great for a beach holiday. The beach has many bungalows located close to the shore, such as High Life Bungalow and Haad Yao Bungalows. It also has many excellent hotels: Sunset Hill Boutique Resort Koh Phangan 4*, See Through Resort Haad Yao 3* and Sun Moon Star Resort Koh Phangan 3*. There are no coral reefs in the sea, which makes it possible to visit it at any time of the year.

Haad Salad Beach

Among the popular beaches of the northwestern coast of Patang it is worth noting Haad Salad. Just a few years ago it was considered a rarely visited beach, but today the tourist flow to it has increased significantly. The sea here is shallow, so people often come here with small children.

The infrastructure is represented by small cafes with Thai cuisine, small grocery stores and souvenir shops. You can stay in either comfortable hotels or wooden bungalows. Most popular place Accommodations among tourists are Salad Beach Resort and Cookies Salad Resort. Not far from the shore there is a coral reef - this is a great place for snorkeling.

The only drawback is the low tides, during which the sea drops several tens of meters.

Mae Haad Beach

The most popular beach north coast is Mae Had. From its shore there is a view of the small island of Koh Ma. During low tide it can be reached on foot along a sand spit.

Due to pure water and rich underwater world The beach is suitable for snorkeling and diving. The beach infrastructure is represented by various cafes, shops, hotels, bungalows and numerous diving schools. If you want to stay in this area, I recommend the excellent Maehaad Bay Resort 4* hotel, Maehaad Garden Inn guest house. The beach is ideal for family vacation with small children.

Malibu Beach

Geographically Malibu beach located in the village of Chaloklam. Thanks to its snow-white sand, clear turquoise water and unusual trees, it is recognized as the most original and beautiful on the entire island.

But all this beauty is not a miracle of nature, but was formed as a result of human activity. The owners of numerous hotels brought fine sand here and planted vegetation. And those stone blocks that you will see on the sides of Malibu were laid out specially so that the sea here always remains quiet and calm.

Entrance to the beach is open to everyone. Not far from the shore there are usually several boats on which you can take an unforgettable walk around the entire bay. The beach infrastructure is not particularly well developed, so most often you can see tourists who come here just to sunbathe. There is only one hotel on Malibu Beach, Malibu bungalows.

Bottle Beach

Bottle Beach located in the northern part of Koh Phangan. Like all beaches in this area, it is windy and there are frequent waves.

The road to Bottle Beach is quite long and it will take you about 30 minutes to get to the beach from the main highway. This trail is not very convenient for riding bikes, but at the same time it has picturesque scenery.

Thong Nai Pan Beach

The northeastern beach of Koh Phangan is considered Tong Nai Pan. Holidays here are a little more expensive compared to other places. This is due to the fact that there are many upscale hotels located on the beach. If you decide to stay here, I recommend paying attention to the hotels Panviman Koh Phangan 4*, Limelight Village,

Thong Nai Pan is a great place for a family holiday, including those with small children. The sea is not deep and is available for swimming all year round. The sand on the beach is fine and it almost never happens here big waves.

Map of Koh Phangan beaches

On the map you can see where all of the above beaches on Koh Phangan are located. I surrounded all the beaches that I talked about with a red frame.

We looked at the main beaches of Koh Phangan, each of which has its own characteristics. When going on a trip, it is worth remembering that island holiday can be very diverse. These include numerous excursions, fun discos, and relaxing time on secluded beaches. The right place will provide you with positive emotions and pleasant memories.
