The largest change in the routing scheme land transport in the center of Moscow for several decades is scheduled for October 8, 2016.According to the information of the Moscow mayor's office, it is from this day that new dedicated lanes public transport, other route numbers will appear, and their intervals and waiting times at stops will be reduced.

Operation "Highway"

Like any other notable phenomenon of recent years, the new route network received its code designation - "Magistral". The essence of the concept is the formation of a network of frequent routes along the main directions outgoing from the center. Basic intervals for such routes are laid down in the schedules at the level of five to ten minutes. On less stressful directions, there will be “district” routes that can actually go through at least half of the city's territory. Their frequency will be maintained at the level of 10-15 minutes. Routes that have been assigned the “social” status will have an interval of up to half an hour. And the night routes, as before, will operate with a stroke of 30 minutes. To explain to passengers the meaning and benefits of the new route network a special section has been created on the official website of Moscow. Schemes of the new route network have already appeared at some city stops.

Is the crisis over?

As transport gradually left the center, website already told in. The time has come for public transport to at least partially regain its former positions.

"M" instead of "C"

The new number sequence for routes will start with the index " m"(" Um-small "), indicating the main routes. According to the developers of the new network, such indexing will allow passengers to quickly recognize that such a route operates with the maximum frequency of movement, and the intervals of movement do not exceed five to ten minutes.

Buses with the index “ c»At the end - the new numbering will do without these letters, although the routes themselves will be preserved with some changes.

Night route numbers, as before, will start with the index " H". And their common meeting place in the center will move from Lubyanskaya Square to Slavyanskaya, to the southern lobby of the Kitay-Gorod metro station.

New stops

New stops will also work for the rethought public transport routes. However, in the last century, most of them worked. In fact, now they are only restoring a part of the 52 stops lost in a quarter of a century. Again, 25 "public transport access points" will work for passengers:

Buses or trolleybuses?

A number of routes in the new network have been announced as trolleybus routes, but from October 8 they will not be able to go to the streets in a "horned" design - the overhead network on a part of the track has been completely dismantled without plans for its restoration. Since in May-June the trolleybus wires on the section of the route between the Udarnik cinema and Nastasyinsky lane were removed, initially 28 buses will go along its route. Losses in the new network

The introduction of a new route network in the center did not go without canceling some stops (there will not be a single public transport route on them), as well as breaking direct connections.

In particular, residents of the "island" (the area between the Moskva River and the Vodootvodny Canal) are already concerned. The only route that passed the island almost the entire length - № 6 - from now on it will only be crossed across. And the connection between Sadovnicheskaya and Kosmodamianskaya embankments with Bolotnaya Square and many central streets will be cut off.

If we take as a basis as a noteworthy thesis of the designers of the new network that one-way communications are not stable and do not form their own passenger traffic (for example, on a trolleybus № 1 before it was possible to get from Tverskaya or 1st Tverskaya-Yamskaya streets to the Boulevard Ring, but it was impossible to get back, since the route back ran through the Kremlin ring), then with this criterion there is a loss of direct connections.

The connection of the entire “island” with the Arbat Gate square has been lost. Forward and backward bus routes № 6 here they walked along perpendicular streets, but the distance between opposite stops was only 380 m. Outside the center, the connection between the “island” and the areas of Krasnaya Presnya and Khoroshevskoye Highway was lost.

Rebuilding the route No. T2 - successor to the trolleybus route № 2 , this time under No. m2- to Kitai-Gorod, at the same time the Boulevard Ring and Prechistenskaya Embankment were removed from the highway. Meanwhile, from the metro area "Kropotkinskaya" for almost two decades (since December 1, 1998, when the trolleybus route № 44 ) there was a two-way direct connection with Novy Arbat and Kutuzovsky Prospekt.

Along the already mentioned route No. T1 (former trolleybus № 1 ), also for decades, communication was established between the distant part of Tverskaya Street, 1st Tverskaya-Yamskaya Street and the beginning of Leningradsky Prospekt with Bolshaya Polyanka and the Danilovsky district.

Stops without routes will remain:

 • "Cinema" Udarnik "" on Sofiyskaya embankment;
 • “Metro Kitay-Gorod” on Kitaygorodsky proezd;
 • "Metro" Kropotkinskaya "" on Volkhonka street towards Borovitskaya square;
 • Bolshoy Kamenny Bridge on Prechistenskaya Embankment;
 • "Prechistenskaya embankment" on Prechistenskaya embankment.

If these stops that have become unused at this stage are now demarcated for the sake of parking lots or other needs, in the future, additional efforts will have to be made to restore them. For example, now Kitaygorodsky proezd borders on the construction site of the Zaryadye park, and the passenger traffic here is small. But already in 2017-2018, this place will become crowded again.

Once again, the information campaign about the new route network was crumpled. In fact, it began with the publication of a section on the official website of Moscow 4 days before the announced changes.

And again, Moscow decided not to comply with the "Rules for the Carriage of Passengers and Baggage ..." (Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation of February 14, 2009 No. 112), prescribing that information on changing the schedule must be communicated to passengers on time no later than 10 days before the date of change of schedules.

In addition, the launch itself on the scheduled date is given with great difficulty. For example, two days before the launch of the Magistral, traffic lights at the intersection of the Garden Ring with Dolgorukovskaya and Malaya Dmitrovka streets were completely absent.

In this situation, it would be optimal to either start informing passengers about the launch of routes earlier than October 4, or postpone the launch for the next weekend - for example, October 15.

Why so many renames?

Entering a new route scheme is accompanied by the renaming of a number of routes and stops.

It is not clear why it was necessary to rename the stops Alexandrovsky Sad Metro into Lenin Biblioteka Metro Station, Lubyanskaya Ploshchad into Lubyanka Metro Station, and Trubnaya Square (on Tsvetnoy Boulevard) into Metro Trubnaya. The new names reflect the names of the main objects of the area no better than the old ones.

There is more logic in renaming the Central Telegraph stop to Okhotny Ryad Metro. The reconstruction stop has been moved closer to the metro. "Street Balchug" on Sofiyskaya embankment became known as "Sofiyskaya embankment" - inherited from the route № 158 inherited from the route № 6 the stop has a "namesake" in the form of the previous stop on the route № 158 on the Bolotnaya embankment.

The renaming of the stops Trubnaya Ploschad on Petrovsky Boulevard towards Pushkinskaya Square and Petrovskie Vorota in the same direction towards Trubnaya Ploschad into Petrovsky Boulevard is apt as they are located opposite each other in the middle of the boulevard.

The name of the stop "Nikitskie Vorota - TASS" on Bolshaya Nikitskaya Street has been simplified. It began to be called simply "Nikitsky Gate". The stop on Volkhonka "Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts", on the contrary, was complicated to "Metro" Kropotkinskaya "- Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts".

It is also unclear whether the name of the stops “Metro Mayakovskaya” instead of the previous “Triumfalnaya Ploshchad” on the Garden Ring, Tverskaya Street, 1st Tverskaya-Yamskaya Streets and in Oruzheiny Lane will be more informative for passengers.

Many routes have also been renamed. At the same time, the mention of foreign specialists in the presentation article of the project rather indicates that some aspects of the project were not very successfully copied from somewhere.

In particular, the English "translation" of the concept "High-frequency routes" displayed on the new colorful plates is much closer to the essence. Indeed, these are rather high-frequency routes than trunk routes. For real main routes, traffic sections with one traffic lane in each direction, as well as the final ones like "Silicate Plant" or "4th Cable Street", look strange.

The translation of "Specialized routes" is also not literal, which suggests that the term is not chosen well.

In the "Local routes" category, the translation is close in meaning to the original, but this category defines routes that pass through the territory of several metropolitan districts, for example, connecting Luzhniki and VDNKh No. T15, or Nagatinsky backwater and the mouth of the Yauza № 156 .

And the declared intervals of movement, as the first acquaintances with the timetables show, do not fully correspond to reality. Route No. м6on weekends, more than once every 12 minutes is not planned, although the trunk category provides for a "plug" of 5-10 minutes. There would be no contradictions if the route № 6 with its terminus in the industrial zone and a narrow section along Bolshaya Nikitskaya Street, they would not forcibly declare the main one. The same applies to the trolleybus route that does not meet the requirements of the mainline. No. м8... Its intervals on weekends reach even 30 minutes. The old one would be more suitable for him № 45 .

Further more

In 2017-2018, it is planned to continue saturating the central streets with public transport. Several radial routes can be combined to form diametric routes. And the main "highlight" of the new network should be the extension of the dead-end "boulevard" tram line along Akademika Sakharov Avenue until it connects with the existing line near Komsomolskaya Square. But first, in order to complete what has already been promised, it is necessary to restore the movement of trolleybuses along the routes №№ B-black, B-red, 3, 10, 39, 47 and 79 .

In October, the new Magistral ground transport network is launched in Moscow.
New routes of buses, trolleybuses and trams pass through the center of Moscow and the main transport routes.
In this article we will explain why such a network is needed, who will it help, and how to use it.

Why change something?
In general, we want public transport in Moscow to better meet the needs of passengers. Specifically, this network of routes - to make it easier for passengers to move in the center.

We want our passengers to be comfortable with their daily travel around Moscow, relying entirely on ground public transport. For example, so that you can come from your area to the center on business, move to another part of the center to meet friends at a cafe, then return home - all using ground transportation.

To do this, transport must go quickly and often, be roomy and comfortable, and most importantly, travel wherever passengers need. The launch of the Magistral route network is one of the steps towards this goal.

What's changing?
To make transport in the center more convenient, we are launching three types of routes: mainline, district and social.

Trunk the routes are the main and the longest. They connect several districts of Moscow with the center and with each other at once, for example, Leninsky with Leningradsky Prospekt, Luzhniki and Semyonovskaya, Nagatinskaya and Polezhaevskaya. These routes are marked with a thick line in the new map. The interval of movement is 5 - 10 minutes. These are the fastest and most frequent routes on the network.

District routes are shorter: they connect the districts with the center. They are easy to get to the main route or take a short trip. The interval of movement is 10 - 15 minutes.

Social routes help Moscow residents get to the centers "My Documents", clinics, MFC and other socially significant places. The interval of movement is up to 30 minutes.

The approach to the timetable has also changed: transport is switching to a clock schedule. Passengers will know, for example, that during peak times the main bus from Tverskaya Street to Leninsky Prospekt runs every eight minutes. And if a person comes to a bus stop and the bus door is closed in front of him, then in eight minutes the next one will arrive.

The clock timetable is similar to the timetable for the subway: passengers do not need to know it, although it is. You just come to the bus stop and wait for the nearest bus for a short time.

What happened to the routes?
We have made the popular routes in the center mainline and straightened them to increase the speed and shorten the intervals. For example, trolleybus No. 62 from Udarnik to Tyoply Stan is now called M4, this is a main route with an interval of movement every four minutes.

In the next few months, transport on the routes will run with two numbers - a new one and an old one. It will also be possible to see how the routes were renamed on any transport scheme in the center.

At the same time, we are improving the traffic patterns of cars and ground vehicles so that they do not interfere with each other.

We also straightened out some of the old routes: if earlier they had to make loops and move along one-way streets, now nothing prevents them from walking along the same street in both directions. This makes it easier to memorize routes and find the stops you want. For example, earlier bus number 6 went in one direction along Vozdvizhenka, and in the opposite direction - along Gogolevsky Boulevard. It's almost a kilometer walk between these streets. And now the M6 route goes in both directions along the same streets. Straight routes are easier to remember and easier to use.

In the area of Dolgorukovskaya and Barrikadnaya streets, there is now through traffic through the Garden Ring. Previously, buses took 15–20 minutes to go to Sadovoe, turn around, drive back and continue along the route. Now this detour is not needed, the buses go straight.

What about night routes?

Within the framework of the Magistral, two express trains change: No. 144 and 904. Both depart from Kitay-Gorod, pass through Okhotny Ryad, Teatralnaya Ploschad and Lubyanka. Further, the 144th express turns left and goes along Leninsky Prospekt to Tyoply Stan. Express number 904 goes to the right along Leningradsky Prospekt in Mitino.

Night routes will also change slightly. Н1, Н2, Н3, Н4, Н5 and Н6 will be united by a single interchange hub on Slavyanskaya Square, near the Kitay-Gorod metro station. At night, these routes will converge on Slavyanskaya Square so that late passengers can change between them and go to the other end of the city. The driving intervals will remain the same - 30 minutes. The rest of the 24-hour routes will remain unchanged.

It's clear with the old ones. Are there any new routes?

One of the new routes is bus A from the square of three stations to Luzhniki. Now it is easy to get from the railway stations to the center, drive along the boulevards and go to Komsomolsky Prospect. And you can go to the Sapsan by bus.

Previously, the only way to get to the center from Kazansky, Leningradsky or Yaroslavsky railway stations was to take the metro. Because of this, the Komsomolskaya metro station is the busiest in the city. Ground transportation can now be used instead of the metro.

But A is not quite new route... Since the beginning of the 20th century, Moscow has been tram route A, which cruised along the Boulevard Ring. The route changed many times, postponed and shortened until 1991, when it was closed. In 1997, the route was restored along the eastern part of the Boulevard Ring - from Kaluzhskaya to Chistye Prudy. Muscovites call this tram route "Annushka". The new main bus route A runs along the western part of the Boulevard Ring, continuing the traditions of the historical route of the last century.

Another example is the M1 route, which connects Leninsky and Leningradsky avenues through the center. You can sit on Tverskaya and in 15 minutes be near Gorky Park or drive further along Leninsky Prospekt and get off at Neskuchny Sad.

Previously, from the north along Tsvetnoy Boulevard it was possible to get only to Trubnaya Square, then the route was interrupted. If you had to get to Teatralnaya or Lubyanka, you had to take the metro. Now there is a route number 38: - from Rizhskaya to Neglinnaya, the Bolshoi Theater, Lubyanka and Kitay-gorod without changes.

Finally, we have restored traffic on Bolshaya Nikitskaya - see route M6 from Nagatinskaya to Polezhaevskaya. Public transport traffic on Neglinnaya has been restored. Some of the routes that are being launched now have not been in Moscow since the 1990s.

How to understand the new route numbering?

Very simple: all renamed routes now contain the letter M: M1, M2, M3 and so on. Route numbering - in a row from top to bottom counterclockwise:

M1 - along Leningradsky prospect;
- M2 - according to Kutuzovsky;
- M3 - according to Komsomolsky;
- M4 - according to Leninsky;
- M5 and M6 - according to Warsaw;
- M7 - according to Volgograd;
- M8 - along Entuziastov highway;
- M9 - along Mira Avenue.

Especially for the project, we have created new bus stop flags, maps and stencils. At first, the stencils will contain both old and new route numbers.

At each stop in the center, there is a traffic map with all stops.

Why are new routes faster?
There are two reasons: there are more buses on the routes, and the routes themselves have straightened out and almost completely switched to dedicated lanes.

More buses mean shorter intervals and less waiting at stops. The average traffic interval for the entire network is eight minutes, while the average interval at peak times for main routes is seven minutes.

Buses and trolleybuses run faster thanks to dedicated lanes. And since routes no longer have inconvenient detour loops, passengers can get to their destination faster.

For example, along the central corridor around the Kremlin, buses will now go along specially designed designated lanes in two directions, rather than going around the Kremlin in a circle. Previously, due to one-way traffic, a trip around the Kremlin could take up to half an hour.

Are the stops new too?
Some yes. We are establishing 24 new stops in the center of Moscow, 12 of which are located in areas where public transport has not been running since the 90s.

We will also gradually replace old stops with new, more convenient ones.

Why ground transportation and not the metro? What buses will run? How to ride now? Why did you design such routes? You can find out the answers to these and other questions on the special project website.

The new route network of land transport "Magistral", focused on the central areas of the city. The Village understands why the buses were renamed in the Central Administrative District and how to get there, for example, from the Rizhsky railway station to the Lubyanka directly.

Why is the “Magistral” needed?

The Moscow government says that with the launch of the Magistral, ground transport in the city center will run twice as often, the city's car fleet will be replenished with 103 buses, and 24 new stops and six dedicated lanes will appear in the Central Administrative District. Thus, 370 buses, trolleybuses and trams will run through the center, and their passenger traffic should increase by 43%. The "Magistral", according to the mayor's office, will help Muscovites build their routes through the city center only with the help of land transport. It should be noted that the innovations will not affect the sleeping areas of Moscow, as well as route B.

What will change?

All ground transport routes in the center were divided into four categories: trunk, district, social and night. The main difference of the new system will be the main routes formed on the basis of the old directions. Their trajectory was adjusted so that the buses can cover the same distances in less time. These routes will be the longest and will connect several districts - for example, the territory of the Polezhaevskaya and Nagatinskaya metro stations - through the city center. The interval in the movement of main routes is the smallest - from five to ten minutes, and their numbers contain the letter "M".

District routes - shorter routes that can take you from a specific area to the Central Administrative District. For example, from Alekseevsky to Trubnaya Square. These buses run at intervals of 10 to 15 minutes. Social routes will run less frequently - once every half hour. On them, townspeople will be able to get, for example, to the MFC, clinics and passport offices. Night routes will be united by a common interchange hub located next to the Kitay-Gorod metro station. The intervals of their movement will remain the same - twice an hour.

Several popular routes have also been "straightened" in the center. For example, in the area of Dolgorukovskaya and Barrikadnaya streets, a through movement of public transport was organized, thanks to which buses will not go to the Garden Ring - due to this, the route time was reduced by 10-15 minutes.
And the bus number 6, which used to travel in one direction along Vozdvizhenka, and back - along Gogolevsky boulevard, will now run only along Gogolevsky and will be called "M6". For the townspeople to have time to get used to the changes, the next few months on the buses will hang signs with both old and new numbers.

What new routes will appear?

Among the new routes is bus “A”, which will run from the square of three stations to Luzhniki through the western part of the Boulevard Ring. There will also be an M1 bus, which will connect Leninsky and Leningradsky avenues through Tverskaya and Gorky Park. It will also be possible to get from the Rizhsky railway station to the Lubyanka directly by a new bus number 38. And the main route "M6" will run from the Nagatinsky district to the "Polezhaevskaya" along Bolshaya Nikitskaya, which has recently restored traffic.

Andrey Karmatsky

founder of Urbica Design mapping company:

At the Department of Transport, a working group was created from employees of the mayor's office and transport organizations, including our company Urbica Design, as well as from foreign experts. The team members analyzed large amounts of information, based on this data, they identified ineffective routes and developed a new transport network. Then the experts evaluated how the new scheme is more effective than the existing one. For example, it was calculated how far can be reached in half an hour by public transport on old routes and using the Magistral network.

When creating new routes, we focused on data on passenger traffic, took into account the routes of transfers from ground transport to the metro, metro statistics, average speeds of public transport according to GLONASS sensors and other information.

Basically, we are bringing ground transportation back to the city center. And due to the opening of new dedicated lanes, in particular on the Kremlin Ring, it became possible to optimize routes so that they become convenient for passengers.

Press Service of the Moscow Department of Transport:

Moscow needs high-quality and convenient ground transport. Instead of scattered and outdated routes, Muscovites will receive long-distance transport that runs during the day at intervals of five to ten minutes, which will connect the most popular points of attraction in the city with the most convenient trajectories.

We expect that in the next two years, the passenger traffic of ground transport in the city center will grow two to three times and reach one million people a day. This will be possible thanks to a new approach to network planning.

Trunk routes running at intervals of five to ten minutes throughout the day will be marked with an “M” in front of the number. We have made changes to the route numbering for the convenience of Muscovites. The letter “M” in front of the number will indicate to passengers that this route does not need to wait: it runs at minimum intervals throughout the day. The average traffic interval on the central routes will be more than halved. If now in the center of Moscow it is necessary to wait for transport on average 16 minutes, then after the entrance of the "Magistral" and the new allocated lanes, the waiting time will be five to eight minutes.

On October 8, 2016, dozens of bus and trolleybus routes were changed. Some of them went along new routes, and some of the stops in the city center were renamed.
To make transport in the center more convenient, we have launched 3 types of routes: mainline, regional and social.

Trunk routes main and longest. They connect several districts of Moscow with the center and with each other at once, for example, Leninsky with Leningradsky Prospekt, Luzhniki and Semyonovskaya, Nagatinskaya and Polezhaevskaya. Movement interval: 5-10 minutes. These are the fastest and most frequent routes on the network.

District routes shorter ones: they connect districts to the center. They are easy to get to the main route or take a short trip. Movement interval: 10-15 minutes.

Social routes help Moscow residents get to the My Documents centers, polyclinics, MFC and other socially significant places. Movement interval: up to 30 minutes.

The approach to the timetable has also changed: transport is switching to a clock timetable. Passengers will know, for example, that during peak times the main bus from Tverskaya Street to Leninsky Prospekt runs every eight minutes. And if a person comes to a bus stop and the bus door is closed in front of him, then in eight minutes the next one will arrive.

The first prototypes of the Magistral project began to be created in Moscow back in 2012. The city then ordered a study of the transport system, then it was proposed to launch routes through the city center and divide them into different categories. Then the developer company was told that nothing would come of this idea, Alexander Morozov, co-chairman of the interregional public movement City and Transport, who worked on that project, tells Gazeta.Ru.

Four years later, the situation has changed. In October 2016, the first line of routes will be launched, and the last line of the Magistral network will be launched in 2017, the Department of Transport reported.

There will be practically no new routes within the project: most of them are, to one degree or another, modified existing flights.

There are two main innovations. First of all,

all routes will pass through the center, even if they previously crossed the border of the CAO tangentially.

And secondly, three categories of routes are being introduced: main, regional and social.

Get a master's degree

There are only seventeen main routes, ten of them are designated with the letter M and a serial number. For at least the first two months after launch, such buses will run with two numbers, new and old, on the basis of which the main route was invented. The main routes are the longest, they leave the outskirts in one part of Moscow, cross the center and go out to sleeping areas in another part of the city. For example, on the route "m1" (former T1) it will be possible to get from Kravchenko Street along Leninsky Prospekt through Tverskaya and Leningradsky Prospekt to the MPS hospital. The m3 route will allow you to get from Luzhniki to the Semenovskaya metro station through Prechistenka and Pokrovka. Trolleybus routes No. 33, 62 and 84 have been combined into the M4 route, which will now follow from the Udarnik cinema to Ozernaya Street in the south-west of the city.

Trunk routes will run most often, every 5-10 minutes, and should become a full-fledged alternative to the metro. For nine main routes, a kind of single interchange hub will be organized on Lubyanskaya Square, for some buses this stop will be the final one, and for some it will be in the middle of the route.

In addition, three trams, two express routes, one "alphabetic" bus and one "alphabetic" trolleybus can be considered mainline in fact, but not by number. Main trams are route A (from Chistye Prudy to Oktyabrskaya), No. 3 (from Chistye Prudy to Balaklavsky Avenue) and No. 39 (from the same Chistye Prudy to University).

Two express routes (# 144 and # 904) have been slightly modified. Both will depart from Kitay-Gorod, pass through Okhotny Ryad, Teatralnaya Square and Lubyanka. Further No. 144 follows Leninsky Prospekt to Teply Stan, and No. 904 - along Leningradsky prospect in Mitino. As for the "letter" routes, then

first of all, we are talking about the famous "Bukashka" - trolleybus "B", which will continue to run along the usual route along the Garden Ring.

The new route of the bus "A" is, in fact, a well-forgotten old one, it partially repeats the tram route that existed in Moscow at the beginning of the 20th century. From October 8, it will run from the square of three stations to the Luzhniki stadium, covering the western part of the Boulevard Ring from Trubnaya Square to Kropotkinskaya. For the eastern part of the boulevards, as mentioned above, tram "A" will be "responsible".

Maternity hospital, kindergarten, school - further everywhere

Regional routes are not as popular among passengers as the main ones, so they will run a little less often, once every 10-15 minutes. As Gazeta.Ru was informed in the Department of Transport, the main difference between the regional routes and the main ones lies in the interval. As for the rest, the district routes will pass their own way along the central streets in the same way, but they are shorter in length than the main ones. Eight trolleybus and seven bus routes received the district category, they will be marked with blue plates.

Their numbers will not change, so there is no need to memorize new ones, but some streets they follow will be different.

This is done so that the transport does not make unnecessary loops and goes as quickly as possible to the goal.

If you decide to take a ride, for example, on the regional route of trolleybus No. 3, which used to follow from Samotechnaya Square to Milashenkov Street, then you will have to take it near the Mayakovskaya metro station. The t15 route, as before, will help to get from Luzhnetskiy proezd through Kropotkinskaya along the Boulevard Ring to the Maryina Roshcha metro station, and then to the southern exit of the VDNKh metro station. And, for example, the 156th bus will take you from the Nagatinsky backwater through Andropov Avenue and "Taganskaya" to Kotelnicheskaya embankment.

Social routes run even less frequently than district routes. But their main task is not to deliver passengers to the center as quickly as possible, but to go around the maximum number of socially significant places along the way, that is, clinics, MFC, councils, social security services, and so on. Social routes, marked in pink, will run every 20-30 minutes.

As well as main and regional routes, social buses will either drive into the center from residential areas, or walk directly through the central part of Moscow.

For example, bus # 64 will travel from the Luzhniki stadium through the Garden Ring and the Smolenskaya metro station to Sandy Square. And, say, route K will follow the ring from Okhotny Ryad through Lubyanka, Kitay-Gorod, Raushskaya embankment, the Udarnik cinema and the Lenin Library.

Night routes will practically not change, except that H1, H2, H3, H4, H5 and H6 will now stop in one place - on Slavyanskaya Square near the Kitay-Gorod metro station. The rest of the night routes will remain the same as before, as well as the interval of their movement - once every 30 minutes.

Dedicated striped flight

The mayor's office expects that the launch of the Magistral project will increase the popularity of surface public transport and unload the traditionally packed central metro stations. Passengers will save up to 30% of their travel time, Deputy Head of the Transport Department Alina Bisembaeva told Gazeta.Ru. “Regularly running transport will appear in the city center, which will enable residents of the Central District and passengers who work in the center to get to their destination without spending time on the road to the metro, descent underground and transfers between lines,” she added. Optimization and straightening of routes will allow to reduce the average interval of movement on central routes by more than half.

To prevent ground transport from getting stuck in traffic jams, dedicated lanes will open for them where necessary.

The Department of Transport assures that the traffic management scheme is made in such a way that the delays of personal cars because of this are minimal.

But they do not hide how the city's priorities are actually distributed. “73% of city dwellers traveling around the city use public transport. And one of the most important priorities in our work is to ensure comfortable movement of public transport, ”the department said to Gazeta.Ru.

Experts believe that the organization of additional "leased lines" will not lead to a significant increase in traffic jams - they simply will have nowhere to form, especially since in recent years many streets in the center of Moscow have already been greatly narrowed. “The wider the carriageway becomes, the more motorists decide to drive on these roads. Thus, no matter how you widen the roads, they will be filled to capacity. For all motorists to fit in, 60% must be asphalted, which is impossible. When the street narrows, including at the expense of dedicated lanes, motorists rather quickly abandon personal transport in favor of public transport, ”says Morozov from City and Transport.

Alexander Chekmarev, an expert of the Probok.net organization, adds that

there are traffic jams even now, "it's just that they usually have all the transport, and after the launch of the project there will be only personal vehicles, while buses will be able to pass."

He also noted that there is no need to move around the center of Moscow by personal transport: "It is difficult to find a parking space, you constantly have to stand in traffic jams, so, perhaps, motorists themselves will switch to public transport and there will be less traffic jams." And with the launch of the project, public transport will be launched where it has not been in recent years, for example, along the southern part of Petrovka.

What's in my room?

However, the project also has a number of disadvantages. One of the main ones is that

the traffic pattern has been substantially redrawn, and passengers will now have to get used to new numbers, new intervals and new routes,

no matter how convenient they are in the end. At bus stops, they promise to post new schemes with detailed explanations, but a few months of confusion are almost certainly guaranteed.

“Routes with the same numbers will appear: with the letter“ M ”and without the letter“ M ”. For example, there will be bus # 4 and # m3. The numbering system needs to be simplified, otherwise people will get confused. I would suggest leaving the successive numbering: similar routes should keep the same numbers, ”Kirill Yankov, chairman of the Russian Passengers Union, explained to Gazeta.ru. “In addition, it would be better if each route of land transport in Moscow was designated by one unique number. Now there are no more than a thousand routes in the city, and the numbers should be enough for each of them. "

At the same time, Alexander Morozov, on the contrary, believes that it is correct to designate routes with letters and numbers. “So you can immediately understand whether the bus runs often on this route or not, that is, the passenger is confident in the regularity of the buses, just like on the metro trains. A similar numbering system has been introduced, for example, in New York and Berlin. Moreover

berliners know the system of bus routes by heart, as Muscovites know the scheme of the subway ”,

- noted Morozov.

According to the expert, until now, while the routes in Moscow were only numbered, people did not understand how often they go. “Moreover, the traffic pattern itself was a“ macaroni network ”: the route can go along the avenue, and then dive into some courtyards and an abyss. Traffic in the city center was completely destroyed under Luzhkov when one-way traffic around the Kremlin was introduced. Finally, Moscow has come to the point of making an oncoming lane on Okhotny Ryad, ”he added.

Yankov from the Passenger Union agrees that Magistral is a major step forward for urban transport, but he is convinced of the need to further improve the system. “There should be fewer routes to end in the center, on Lubyanskaya and Slavyanskaya squares, and more routes should be“ dragged ”through the center. It is unlikely that someone will travel by buses with a transfer through the center, the metro is better for this, - the expert says. - It is also worth running direct buses that run on routes other than the metro. For example, Novy Arbat and Prospekt Mira could be connected by one route, given that there is no direct transfer from the orange metro line to the blue one. Such a route would look very correct. "

Lubyanka is preparing for the assault

The potential demand for the new system among passengers also raises questions. Of course, this is what the mayor's office wants to achieve, but will the new transport network withstand the load and will the situation not be repeated when, after the reform of minibuses, legal buses are often packed to capacity? Additional buses, trolleybuses and trams will be launched specially for the "Magistral", a total of 370 units of transport. “After the launch of the route network, we will constantly monitor the congestion of routes and rolling stock,” said the Department of Transport.

Another controversial point is the organization of "day" and "night" interchange hubs at Lubyanskaya and Slavyanskie squares. However, the Department of Transport is confident that the infrastructure will cope with passenger traffic. “There are a lot of transport hubs in the city, the daily passenger traffic of which is 100 thousand and more people per day. Changes in routes and transport schemes within the framework of the Magistral project will not affect the change in the environment in these areas, ”the department stressed.

However, experts note that the same Lubyanka still lacks normal infrastructure for passengers: most of the crossings are underground, the interval of pedestrian traffic lights on zebras is too short, so getting to the bus stop sometimes takes much longer than going down the subway.

“I think that the transfer points at Lubyanskaya and Slavyanskaya squares are a temporary measure,” says Alexander Morozov. - Ideally, routes should go through the center, dock in pairs with each other and form diameters that go through the center. These diameters should deviate from metro stations to compensate for the lack of metro in certain areas of the center. In any case, the main task now is to restore through traffic through the center. "

Kirill Yankov from the Passengers' Union believes that traffic jams can be avoided by observing the clock movement of buses within 5-10 minutes. “How the movement of personal vehicles on the Lubyanskaya and Slavyanskaya squares will change in reality depends on the volume of traffic,” he added. “I think that there will be no crowds of passengers at these large interchange points, because the subway will still remain the main trunk transport”.
